Looks like BN4 topic got de-stickyd anyhow in BN4 i just beat DUO and was woundering if there are any chips that are in NORMAL mode only? I want to know before i go onto HARD mode.

Hi, Sketch. As for the normal only chips, the version 1 chips of viruses, can be gotten later through the chip trader.

However, they can be quite difficult to obtain, especially when you're trying to look for them in a specific code.

Normally a not so high and not so low rank can give you the first chip, i've gotten v1 chips from v3 viruses, and the chip trader can also help

Not necessarily.
When you proceed from run 1 to run 2, as you may know, all of the viruse are upgraded one level. This provides for some rather difficult scenarios, since there is no way to degrade the virii back to their original state. As for the question at hand, most of the xxxxx1 chips are exclusive to the first run, so try to obtain at least one copy of them in each code before proceeding. I erred there and was stuck in run #7 lacking a WideShot2 L and Boomer2 L, so I had to resort to Chip Trader, which failed miserably. If you are unfortunate enough to be trapped in that situation, bear in mind that all non-Internet connected spaces have virii that will remain static, so plug in almost anywhere and eventually process of elimination will win out for you.
Also, it's a good idea to get every BMD and unlock every PMD so that you don't miss anything later on in a future run.
