That's...just fantastic. So well-written, and yet so damn devious at the same time. As Sol has said, you do an excellent rendition of Dark RockMan, and I especially enjoyed how he seemed to prolong the pain by choosing his motives carefully and not diving in for the kill until he's had his sadistic pleasures fulfilled. Fantastic job.
Now, erm, I actually have a request, but seeing as how there are three people ahead of me, I'll drop it here, and leave it entirely up to you if you ever want to fic it.
My request is simple--a Shuko and Aquaman-centric fic. Let her take some time to reflect on how she's changed from her inception into the storyline to the present moment, "present" being the initial...say....eight episodes or so of Beast. The situation I leave in your hands. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! But they'll have to avoid the Whammy, as they play the most exciting game of their lives! Barrel walked into his dorm and sat down on his bed with a heavy sigh. His navi, not quite sure what to make of this looked at his Net Op with concern and asked, “Barrel, are you all right?”
Barrel nodded, “I’m fine. It’s been awhile since we’ve met up with that kid and his dad, hasn’t it?” he asked.
“Hikari, sir?” Colonel asked.
Barrel nodded. He knew what he had to do for the Nebula Grey incident but it was hard, to come and go through the future as he pleased. He could feel his body wearing thin while he hopscotched through time to watch over the kid and his navi. Not that it wasn’t worth it, he knew that the kid was headed for even more dangerous battles that only he could fight. Still… such weariness was new the Barrel and he wasn’t sure if he liked it.
“Barrel, if I may?” Colonel asked.
Barrel nodded and lay down on his bed with his face turned towards the ceiling. “Go ahead,” he told Colonel.
Colonel cleared his throat, “Are you sure you wish to be doing this?” he asked him softly.
Barrel smirked, “If I didn’t, would I have you?” he asked.
“That’s not what I meant,” Colonel replied.
Barrel shook his head, “I know what you meant. And my answer is yes. I like that kid and his navi, they’re good people. They deserve a chance and I like doing something worthwhile with my life, even if it does mean to sacrifice a few things.”
“Barrel, I can tell you’re getting tired, you can’t continue to do this,” Colonel pointed out.
“I think…” Barrel paused. “I think there may be only one more incident.”
“You think?” Colonel asked dubiously.
Barrel shrugged, “Intuition. Anyways, you’ll be there, and that’s probably what helps them the most.”
Colonel allowed himself a small smile. “You belittle yourself.”
Barrel shook his head, “I’m far from being modest, my friend.”
“Oh, I’m well aware,” Colonel replied. “Believe me, I’m well aware.” He paused for a bit, “So, are you going to finish this out?” he asked.
“You can bet on it,” Barrel said with a grin.
~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~
When it was all said and done, Barrel still believed what he did was most of what he could do. Before the notorious last fight, of which the outcome he already knew he visited a place that he had only seen in nightmares.
“So, this is where it ends, huh?” Barrel asked softly while gazing down at the stone.
Colonel nodded silently in his PET. “Yeah…”
Barrel kneeled down and wiped some dirt off of the grave stone. “A beloved soldier and friend…” he read.
~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~
Two months later Netto knelt by the grave stone and placed flowers on top of it. “Barrel the immortal,” he whispered, reading the familiar nickname one last time and let a few tear drops fall onto the cold granite.

That was...sad. It was very good, but still sad. I love it when people do fics that delve into Barrel's character. He's such a cool guy.
Anyway, I have a request if it's not too much trouble. I'd really like to see a fic on what would happen if one of the net saviors, specificly Enzan or Netto, lost their sight and was permanantly blinded. How would they deal with the handicap and how would others react? _________________ “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”

Very, touching Neko, I though it was nice how you had Barrell read his own grave, and then have NEtto read it too. Very good work, Thanks. _________________ Current story-Elemental Maiden |

Netto slowly opened his eyes, putting up his hand to block an unwanted light from reaching his eyes. “Hello, Netto-kun,” a soft voice said to him.
“Rock… man…” he mumbled slowly.
“Yes, Netto-kun. I’m glad you’re awake, you scared me for a minute,” Dark Rockman said quietly.
Netto shook his head dazedly, “Rockman…” he said again. “I…”
Dark Rockman helped Netto sit up. “It’s all right, you’re fine now.”
Netto took in a deep breath and shook his head to will away the bad feeling he had in the back of his mind. “Yeah,” he said, a little more sure of himself. “I’m fine.”
Dark Rockman nodded, “Yes.”
Netto looked around with a small grin on his face. “Rockman is here,” he told himself. Then he looked at Rockman with empty eyes, “I missed you nii-san.”
Dark Rockman grinned and hugged Netto, “I missed you too, little brother,” he said truthfully. “Very much.”
Netto looked past Dark Rockman and blinked. “You’re here, but where is everyone else?”
“What do we need them for, Netto-kun?” Dark Rockman asked. “We’re here, and that’s all that matters.
‘No!’ a voice yelled in the back of Netto’s mind. ‘No, that’s not true.’ Netto shook his head and shoved away the small voice. “Right,” he agreed.
Dark Rockman’s lips twisted into a small smile. “Very good, Netto-kun.”
~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~
In the deep recesses of Netto’s mind, a small light throbbed vainly against the dark energy that consumed the area. “No…” Netto thought harshly. “This isn’t right. That’s not my nii-san and I’m not being heard!”
‘Netto-kun…’ a soft voice said.
Netto relaxed for a second to try and hear the voice again.
‘Netto-kun…’
“Rockman?” Netto called out. “Is that really you?”
‘Netto-kun, calm down,’ the voice said again.
Netto did as he was told and when he became aware again he was standing in a dimly lit room with no noticeable boundaries except an unknown light source. In front of him stood his elder twin and best friend. “Saito!” Netto gasped and hugged his twin tightly.
Saito smiled and hugged Netto back. “I knew something was wrong,” he murmured. “As soon as I felt the dark energy I knew something was wrong.”
“Saito, I can’t do anything,” Netto said in a small voice. “Something…”
“You’re infected with the Dark energy,” Saito said while clutching Netto closer. “I was convinced you were gone,” he gasped. “I was so worried.”
“But, if I’m here then what about…” Netto wasn’t quite sure how to word the rest.
“The Dark energy has taken over your body, just like it took over mine. Netto-kun, you have to fight it, or it will consume your entire being,” Saito told him with worry in his dark eyes.
Netto shook his head, “But how?” he asked. “How do I fight it? I tried before but…”
Saito smiled sadly. “I’m afraid I can’t tell you how, but if you don’t you will never regain yourself.”
Netto shut his eyes and buried his face in Saito’s chest. “I don’t want to leave you…” he whispered.
“I’ll be fine,” Saito replied with a soft smile. “I promise. I’m always here with you, Netto-kun, I promise. If you escape the darkness then you can get Rockman and together we’ll fight back against my dark side but… until then you have to win your own battle.”
Netto nodded and held Saito closer. “All right,” he said.
Saito put his hand on Netto’s head and pushed his head back gently so they would look eye to eye. “Promise?” he asked.
Netto gave him a broad grin that seemed to put his twin at ease, “I promise, Saito-nii-san.”
Saito grinned, “Good, Netto-kun. Are you ready?”
Netto nodded and gave Saito a smile. “I’m always ready. You should know that.”
Saito winked at him, “I’ll remind you that tomorrow morning,” he teased.
Netto nodded, “Yeah, see you tomorrow morning.”
The dim room slowly began to grow lighter and lighter until Netto could no longer see Saito’s face but only feel him. Saito squeezed Netto’s hand gently before the room dissipated.
Netto was back in his own private little corner and he could feel the Dark energy begin to pulsate around him. “Please,” he whispered. “I promised…”
The small light within the Darkness grew stronger and stronger until Netto could no longer keep his own thoughts inside of the small area and he slipped into oblivion.
~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~
“Netto-kun, are you all right?” Dark Rockman asked, suddenly wondering why Netto was looking at nothing in particular.
Netto shut his eyes tightly and put his hands to his head. “No,” he whispered.
“Netto-kun?” Dark Rockman asked.
“NO!” Netto yelled.
Dark Rockman backed off at the sudden surge of emotion that came through his link. “What?”
Netto collapsed to his knees and shut his eyes tightly. “No…” he whispered. “I promised.”
A dark energy pulsated around the child before slowly dissipating. “You…” Dark Rockman growled.
Netto took in several deep, shuddering breaths, “I won’t… give in… to you!” he yelled while fixing Dark Rockman with an angry glare.
Dark Rockman took a slow step back then his expression changed completely. He gave Netto a cruel smirk and nodded, “All right… Netto-kun,” he smirked.
Netto stood up shakily, “What are you planning?” he snapped, the devious thoughts of Dark Rockman making themselves know through the link.
Dark Rockman stepped forward and grabbed Netto’s shoulder. “Hmm… I wonder?” he asked before sending a shock through the brunette’s body that rendered the child unconscious. "A promise, huh?" he asked dully to the air.
~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~
Netto opened his eyes slowly to look up at the ceiling of his familiar room. “Huh?” he asked.
“Good morning, Netto-kun,” a soft voice greeted him.
Netto sat up quickly and stared at his navi before his face broke into a large grin. “Morning, nii-san!” he answered cheerfully.

You're getting good at writing the tear-jerkers, I'll admit.
I concur with Sol on this one--having Saito appear to him in an ethereal state was a rather touching method of passing inspiration onto Netto--and this is definitely something I can see as being continued on its own accord. You spent just the right amount of time allowing for Netto to realize his error and for him to resist. This should be good.
I look forward to the next, as always. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! But they'll have to avoid the Whammy, as they play the most exciting game of their lives! From Television City in Hollywood! It's time to 'Press Your Luck!'--Rod Roddy

It's good to see you writing these requests again, Neko. I loved all the recent ones you've written. You've captured Dark Rockman as the perfect specimen of evil - cunning and manipulative.
If you are able to, Neko, could you please do another ShunxYaito fluff? I don't care about the content so long as it's cute and fluffy. _________________

Netto skated slowly down the sidewalk looking around at the stores to see if they had something he might want. “Hm…” he said thoughtfully.
“Netto-san?” Colonel called from his PET.
“Yeah?” Netto asked while peering into a window.
“Are you sure you want to be out? I mean after everything…” Colonel paused.
Netto grinned, “Nah, I want to be outside. Rockman would yell at me if I stayed cooped up inside all day.” A brief look of sadness crossed his eyes before he spotted something on display in the window. He grinned and walked inside.
“What are you looking for?” Colonel asked.
Netto headed towards a small rack with hats on it. “Mama’s birthday is next week,” he said in a happy voice. “I need to get mama her present before I spend my money on anything else.” He looked a little sheepish as he looked at a hat. “I’m really bad with money.”
Colonel smiled a little, “I can imagine. I don’t think I know of many 12 year old boys who are good at handling money.”
Netto put the hat back and wandered over to a place with pretty silk scarves he saw his mom looking at last time they were there. “Do you know many 12 year old boys?” he asked with a laugh.
“Well… no,” Colonel admitted.
“Point,” Netto said and picked up a pretty silk black scarf with red roses on it. “Besides, it’s not like I’m horrible at it. I know when to save money, it’s just if I see something I really want I…” he paused and laughed, “I’m not good at holding back.”
“I think most people have that problem, Netto-san,” Colonel said good naturedly.
“Really?” Netto asked. “Does Barrel?”
Colonel shrugged, “I would think, even though he doesn’t talk about it.”
“What does he talk about?” Netto asked while they headed towards the register.
“Not very much,” Colonel admitted. “Barrel-san is a very action first, talk later kind of person.”
Netto giggled, “Rockman would probably say the same about me. I know for a fact I act on impulse. It drives him crazy.”
Colonel nodded, “Oh I can see why,” he said softly.
“Hm?” Netto asked as he accepted the bag from the cashier.
“Nothing,” Colonel said quickly. “So, is that what you’re going to get for your mother?” he nodded at the bag.
Netto nodded, “Yeup, mama was looking at this last week when we were out. I think she liked it because she kept on looking at it but she didn’t have enough money. I think it will make a good birthday present.”
Colonel smiled, “I believe you’re right.”
Netto walked out of the store and clipped on his skates. “So, you ready to go home?”
Colonel opened his mouth then closed it. “Excuse me?”
“Are you ready, to go home,” Netto repeated slowly. “I was just wondering if you were ready to leave or if you wanted to stay around for a bit.”
“O-oh…” Colonel said slowly. “Umm… we can go home now.”
Netto started to skate in the direction of his house. “Barrel doesn’t ask your opinion much, does he?”
“Not outside the context of battle,” Colonel replied. “I just go where he carries my PET. Does Rockman ever want to stay?”
Netto shrugged, “Sometimes. And sometimes he wants to leave early.” Netto made a face, “Sometimes I don’t want to listen. Anyways, it was just a question.”
Colonel smiled, “I know,” he replied. “And I think I’m ready to return back to your house. I need to e-mail Barrel anyways.”
Netto nodded, “All right, we’ll be home in about ten minutes. If we’re lucky I can get upstairs and hide mama’s present without her seeing.”
Colonel laughed and nodded then looked out of the PET and the world whizzed by. It was a lovely day and he wished it would never end.

Aww, this was nice. I've seen several authors take on this time period, but I still think that you interpret the events the best. Not by much, though.
I do not know much of Colonel, having not played EXE5 Colonel, but from what I can tell from his brief appearance in the game, you seemed to get his personality down pat. Great job. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! But they'll have to avoid the Whammy, as they play the most exciting game of their lives! Make that three instances where you've typed in Barrel instead of Colonel.

I'd like to request some fluffy scene involving Larkman and his 'family', grandparents too, if possible XDD You know who is Larkman e.e; |
Larkman pranced through the house, humming a nonsense tune to himself while looking for something to occupy his incredibly short attention span. “Hello?” he called out sweetly, looking for someone to play with.
In the other room his ‘mommy’ was spread out on the couch, fast asleep on top of his ‘daddy’ while the radio played some music softly. In a moment of mischief the small bird like navi wandered over to the radio and turned it up as loudly as he could. The music blasted out and jerked his parents out of their peaceful slumber.
Swallowman fell off of Cosmoman with a grunt while the bigger navi sat up with a gasp. Larkman cackled as his parents looked around wildly to see just what was going on while the radio continued to play full blast. Swallowman whirled around to where his son was rolling on the floor in laughter and glared at his son. “What are you doing?”
Larkman grinned and sat up with a cutesy grin on his face, “I was bored and no one was there to play with me,” he said in a small childish voice that he knew his mommy couldn’t resist.
Swallowman swallowed and looked at Cosmoman for help. ‘Well?’ he thought.
Cosmoman sighed and stood up, turning off the radio as he walked over to Larkman. Larkman looked back up at him with big eyes and smiled, “Yes daddy?” he asked.
Cosmoman picked up his son and cradled him, “You know you’re not supposed to wake us up when we’re asleep.”
“But I was lonely!” Larkman whined. “I didn’t have anyone to play with.”
Any thoughts of punishing his son flew out of his mind when Larkman gave him the big eyed look that screamed ‘I’m a spoiled brat and you know it, now love me.’ “Well, what do you want to do?” Cosmoman asked.
Larkman gave him a broad smile. “Make cookies!” he cheered.
Swallowman sighed, “All right. Then daddy and I get to take a nap.”
Larkman hopped out of Cosmoman’s arms, “’Kay!” he said brightly as he ran towards the kitchen.
~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~
Larkman pulled things out of the cupboard and looked around wildly as he got chocolate chips, sugar and vanilla as well as the other ingredients he knew he needed. But it was all about the chocolate and sugar. Swallowman made sure that his son didn’t put anything too odd into the recipe but in all reality the two parents were more then happy to just sit back and let the child mess around with the messy dough.
“What is that?” Cosmoman asked while Larkman put something into the batter.
“I think that was… brown sugar,” Swallowman said gently.
“How much sugar is in there now?” Cosmoman asked.
Swallowman shrugged, “I doubt he’ll eat any. Just let him play around a bit.”
“All right,” Cosmoman said doubtfully.
“Ooooo… can I color them?” Larkman asked as he saw the food dye.”
“Only a few drops,” Swallowman said with a grin.
“’Kay!” Larkman said and true to his word he only put in three drops to turn the cookies blue. “Like mommy,” he giggled.
After he was done mixing the concoction he carefully made small tiny rolls and set them out on a cookie sheet. “Daddy, can you put these in the oven for me?” Larkman asked sweetly.
Cosmoman stepped forward and took the cookie sheet. “All right,” he said and opened the over. Larkman gazed into the glowing oven while hiding behind his daddy’s legs but he didn’t say anything. Cosmoman shut the door and looked around. “There you go,” he said.
“Yay!” Larkman cheered.
~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~
After a few minutes they took out the cookies and looked around. “Oooooooo,” Larkman said at the pasty blue lumps. “Can I have one?”
“Ummm…” Cosmoman said slowly. “I don’t think…”
“Sure!” Swallowman said with a smile and took one himself. He popped it in his mouth and Larkman mimicked the action. “Hey, it’s good,” Swallowman said with a laugh.
Cosmoman eyed the cookies and shook his head. “No thanks,” he muttered.
Larkman giggled, “They’re yummy,” he said happily.
“Now we go take a nap,” Cosmoman muttered.
Swallowman nodded, “Yeah, that sounds good.”
“You need to clean up this mess,” Cosmoman told his son as they left the kitchen.
“’Kay!” Larkman answered and turned to the gooey bowls and utensils he used to make the cookies.
~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~
Ten minutes later Cosmoman felt someone crawl in between them in the bed. “Did you finish cleaning up?” he asked.
“Mmmhmmm….” The child answered and curled into Cosmoman’s side.
After another five minutes Swallowman chuckled, “You believed him?” he asked sleepily.
“No,” Cosmoman answered. “I don’t really mind though.”
Swallowman smiled, “You’re a good father,” he said before falling back to sleep.
Cosmoman sighed, “Yeah,” he answered with a small grin and drifted off to sleep while holding his son.
