because Sonic has always really been regarded as a kids' game in the US. swearing kind of changes it all.

Does swearing really change it? Maybe in a shadow sequel he'll bleed and when he destroys an enemy he'll knock their heads off with some real gory effects to it. Or maybe you'll hear him say stronger language like the F word. That would really make it a mature game. Yeah that would be great, lots of blood and swearing. That would be a great sonic game.

I'm sorry I was so sarcastic but I had to say it. It doesn't matter if it's a "kiddie" game. Sonic games are fun and they don't have to be "mature", They're alright the way they are.

Shadow's a cartoony hedgehog. Making him say hell and damn and use weapons is NOT going to change that and no matter how you look at it, it won't make the series seem more appealing to more "mature" audiences. If anything, it just makes the series look more "kiddie."

Please SEGA, don't let Iizuka and Sonic Team USA anywhere NEAR the next gen Sonic Game. I can only take so much raping of my childhood favorite videogame series. T_T

i know they are. it's what the developers (probably) think.

It's a false maturity. Like you see on tv. And thanks timestones, I though someone from the GHZ boards would have a good opinion on this.

From what I've heard, they weren't really going for the false "mature" style that some games have, they were trying to make it a darker game to accomidate Shadow's backstory and stuff, while keeping it kid friendly.

Finally got around to getting the final scenario and stuff a little while ago.
I liked the game, but I really hated how they did the ending...

[spoil:f86d9d1088]
They used a variation of my least favorite versions of Shadow's creation and everything seemed rushed.
The final stage was just another version of the Alien homeplanet, and shorter than the previous final stages because of it's gimmick.
I didn't like the first big plot twist about why the aliens came to Earth...
The second one was more interesting IMO, but even though it does have a way it could work, the way it was presented felt like it barely could without creating a plothole and while I enjoyed all the other final battles for 3D sonic games so far, I hated this one because of the controls and how you fought.
[/spoil:f86d9d1088]

At least, we've got Shadow's story out of the way now. Still kinda happy to see that.

That's another thing that gets me, what the hell is the point of giving the game multiple endings if you're just going to have one "final" ending that overrides all the others? Doesn't that pretty much defeat the purpose of giving the player a choice in how to make the game play out in the first place? They hype up the whole "hero of villain? You decide!" aspect of the game as one of its major selling points but in the end it's really just some marketing BS since Shadow turns out to be a hero anyway!

... because no video game should ever be hidden behind a gimmick. Seriously... they all do, you guys know that. The game had to have a final resolution, Storylines explain who Shadow 'is'. the Last Story is a continuation of any Story within Black Comet, and finally tells you of Shadow's Birth, which was the whole purpose of the game, all the while giving hints in every cutscene of what he 'was'.

And I want to see Nack/Fang back...

(Late post, sorry)

in my opinion this game was alright, the only real problem I had was the lack of any lock-on system.

"Final Story" is a storyline tool, that is "THE STORY" to follow in the next game Shadow is in.

Anyways, I can find time to complete this game..stupid midterms

the way I see it, this game serves as an apology (at least for me) for that POS sonic heroes. just like SC3 is an apology for those who had the PS2 version of 2

Well... no, not really.

I just find it a bit exciting that they actually do a bit of swearing, since previous Sonic games didn't have that. It's probably just me, because little things just so easily amuse me sometimes. =P And of course, there really isn't much of it, hence why this game didn't have a teen rating. The only ones who swore so far, to my knowledge are [spoil:80078ce394]Shadow, Espio, and the commander[/spoil:80078ce394]. =P

Try failing the one Hero mission. (I'll get back to you on the name) Sonic shouts "damn" as well.
