The funeral scene really tied in Enzan and Blues' relationship, seeing as Enzan no longer had anyone else to turn to. In that scene, his father also orders him to begin special training to be a top net battler for their company. Which explains Enzan's entire determination to "be the best", as he acted in the first season.
Ah well. |
Well, and, without strong evidence of Stream showing up here in the States, unfortunately, it looks like it won't even matter. -.- |

How do you think I felt when I saw what they did to the fight scene in Episode 35? Sure, I like it that Brightman's personality remained intact. In fact I loved it. (typical me) However they cut waaaay too much material in that fight. I would've glady let Brightman strangling Thunderman slide but they removed waaaay too much to be feasible. It's a damn good fight, let the fans see it in the entirity.
Wait, what were talking about again? Oh right, Episode 49. Perhaps I'd be more upset had I seen the original version of that but I didn't so I really don't know what to think actually. Maybe I SHOULD be upset? |

It just makes me sad to see character development left out. This was Enzan's episode to shine, which the fans had been waiting for a really long time.
On the upside, I -was- happy to see they pretty much left in the monster cross fusioned Blues had become. They cut out the first shot of him strangling Netto, but what he was doing was still blatantly obvious in the later scenes. Kudos.
I still think Dark Protoman's voice was smexy. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

The dark navi's voices were always smexy!
Blues' Japanese voice was great, and I felt the American one was also as good... ^__^
Especially 2 days ago..."Delta Ray!" was said exactly as I pictured it.

Yep, it stayed. ^_^
Even though I know it's got edits up the wazoo [okay, I'm exaggerating...this time ], I still enjoyed it. I haven't seen the original [except for the clip that was up on the REO site before], and I'd been looking forward to seeing it since I read the summary, so...yeah. It was a pleasant surprise to see it not hugely mutilated. I have to say my initial reaction was, "Wait...aren't there more episodes before this? o_0" but then I remembered that some got cut [yeah...I'd been out of the loop ^^;]. Ah well. _________________ Thanks for the avatar hobbit_hunter! |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Axess dub a surprise as well? It literally popped up out of no where. Stream will come. The anime is popular in the United States... it shouldn't take 103 dubbed episodes to figure that out... _________________

I thought they were gonna cut it off too. I was happy and shocked at the same time.
I ticked that they didn't show the part D. Blues didn't turn to dust. T_T _________________

To be honest, I didn't find EITHER a surprise. I mean, if they licensed the first part of the series why wouldn't thet license and dub the REST of them? oO Pokemon, Slayers, Dragonball and Yu-gi-oh, to name a few, were series that eventually had sequels of some sort, and the same companies have dubbed those not long after. I'm confused as to why people doubted tha AXESS or Stream wouldn't've been picked up and continued after that o_o
EDIT: I found Scott Perrie's performance on Chaud a bit more noticable than Dark Protoman's. I found most of his dialogue kind of cheesy and irritable until the later scene where he's being turned back to normal, but Chaud sounded like he was really into it from beginning to end, and that seemed to help add to the situation.
Also, I looked at the credits real quick to see Gravityman was voiced by Robert...something. I REALLY gotta get a screencap of these things already x_x |

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with you there on that. There was one line in particular (I'll check my tape for it later) where it sounded like Chaud was practically in tears, and I remember thinking "Wow, he sounds really into it o.o". I'd also thought about the quality of his voicework in several other spots in the episode. So yay for feeling behind Chaud's voice for once xD ^^ /o/ _________________

Without having seen the original, I have to admit this was alright. A shame about the funeral thing, hard to say the reasons why. I thought it flowed well without it, which ultimately leads to the question, what else SHOULD they have cut? Let's face it, Kids' WB has a lot more commercials than the Japanese one seems to, and that's nothing new on any station here. So stuff gets cut for time. Might've been the same with the choking bit, too. We got to see the end of that, so maybe they weren't trying to avoid it, but to show as much as they could without losing themselves to trying to cram it all in.
It's a shame, yeah, but I thought the ep was pretty intense, definitely hit the right notes with me. And I think that's who they're aiming this stuff at, guys like me and kids who haven't seen the original.
Seriously, best way to enjoy the dub? DON'T watch or read up on the originals first. If you get to see them later, look at them as like a DVD extended cut version or something(and God willing, that's precisely what'll come of these someday on DVD).
The series as a whole flows MUCH better when you haven't seen the original first to scrutinize the dub by.
This is also why I don't check this thread 'til after I've seen the ep myself.
Anyway, not telling anyone what they're doing is wrong, different strokes and all that. But if you're able, try to see the dub while blind to the original sometime. It's like I say, a strong show can still be good despite a number of hackings. That's how you know it's good.
And despite my initial distaste for the whole CF thing(I'm cool with it now), Axess is good.

Enzan being impaled by Dark Blues' sword attack was cut out; you only see Blues striking the attack and it goes to Enzan's sunglasses breaking. Dark Blues crumbling was also cut out.
I didn't like the BGM after Blues was saved. The triumphant fanfare sort of matched it if you look at it in the positive way, whereas the original made the scene kind of emotional. _________________ I'll remember that day, and I won't let it go. |

Axess was a surprise because of the intense violence and tone difference in comparison with the original EXE. Many of us didn't think they'd be able to show it on Kids' WB, especially since ShoPro seemed a lot less lenient with their dubbing of EXE. So, Axess getting dubbed? Yeah, that shocked some of us. But now that they've shown ALL of Axess can be shown on Kids' WB, there's no reason not to expect the same of Stream and Beast and whatever comes next... _________________
