Enzan briefed Saito quickly on how to use a battle chip properly as Rockman and Blues fought the small army of viruses with their default weapons. “Okay, here’s the chip, just stick to sword-type ones and you should be okay. Here are the sword ones,” Enzan said while shoving some battle chips into Saito’s hand. “Just slot them in, and when Rockman looses the effect put in another one. I’ll make sure to have Blues back you up.”

Saito held the chip up in front of his face and stared at it blankly. “Enzan-san?” he asked.

“Yes?” Enzan replied while giving Blues several battle chips including one shield so that he and Rockman could breathe for a bit.

“Which way does this go in?” Saito asked him in a bemused voice.

Enzan gave him a blank look before sighing heavily. “See the end with the arrow and the ‘slot in’ on the edge?”

Saito turned it over in his hand and his eyes widened, “Oh!” he exclaimed. “I see it now,” he grinned sheepishly and slotted in the chip properly.

Rockman summoned the data and started to slash through the Metool with the sword as Blues backed him up on the other side. Saito fidgeted uncomfortable and finally Rockman asked him what was wrong.

Saito looked to the side and asked, “Well, when you’re deleting them, doesn’t it hurt?”

Rockman stopped dead. “They’re viruses…” he muttered.

“Yeah but… aren’t they like you? Can’t they feel?” Saito pushed.

“Virus: a form of corrupt data taken over by a primitive program that go from computer to computer looking for more data to dismantle and corrupt,” Enzan sighed while giving Saito a textbook definition of what a virus was. “Trust me, they need to sympathy.”

Saito looked back at the Metool, “But they look kinda cute…” he protested.

It took of Rockman’s will power not to groan. “Saito-kun, can you send me more battle chips before these Metool bring down this building’s internal structure and thirty families become homeless?”

Saito blanched and hurriedly slotted in another battle chip. “There,” he said quickly.

“Thanks,” Rockman sighed and launched himself at another virus.

“What am I going to be doing here?” Netto asked pointedly.

“Like I said before,” Adrian answered, “The basics. Just enough for you to protect yourself and others if need be when Laina attacks. She going to come back tonight you know,” he said darkly.

Netto growled, “I figured as much.”

“Who is she?” Searchman asked.

“She is the leader of the people who try and destroy Guardians. And the rumors say she’s found a way to do it,” Adrian explained. “So we have to be extra careful. You and Saito need to be even more so, understand?”

Netto nodded sullenly, “Yeah.”

Adrian smiled, “Not fond of orders?” he asked.

Netto crossed his arms, “I wouldn’t say…”

“Yes,” Laika answered for him.

“Thanks Laika,” Netto said dryly.

Laika shrugged, “It’s true. You never listen, to anyone, ever.”

Netto shot him an angry glare while Adrian laughed out loud. “Ah, you kids are a riot. I can see why you work so well together as a team. I hope your navi’s are a bit more amiable on the battle field,” he observed.

“Rockman and I tend to argue less,” Searchman said fairly.

Adrian nodded, “I figured as much. But today isn’t about net battling. That’s apparently what Saito is doing. So,” he clapped his hands together. “I see you’ve already discovered the first two and really only two things you need to know how to do. It’s just a matter of doing them well.”

“Huh?” Netto asked.

Adrian raised an eyebrow, “Two things?” he asked.

“Spell it out,” Laika said. “We’ll be here all day if you don’t.”

Netto made a point to step on Laika’s foot, hard. Laika shifted, but refused to give Netto the satisfaction of a yelp. “I don’t need help from you,” he growled.

Searchman sighed softly while Adrian shrugged indifferently. “Well, the only things you really need to know are flying and summoning your weapon. Learning how to use your weapon is all up to you and what it is. I can’t help you there.”

“Weapon?” Laika and Searchman both asked.

Adrian nodded and proceeded to explain the theory behind the weapons. When he finished he summoned his own. There was a brief flash of light and his weapon was secured safely in his hands. “Note this however, never ever let someone else get a hold of this. Your weapon is linked directly to your soul and if it is destroyed then so is your soul. I’ve seen far too many Guardians go this way. It is not a pretty sight.”

Netto and Laika both winced when he said this but offered no other comments.

Archie nodded and let go of his weapon. It disappeared in a flash of light and was gone before either boy could blink. “It’s a simply rule but a serious one. So, wanna try?”

“No,” Netto admitted.

Laika couldn’t help but to grin briefly at Netto’s forthcoming ness to everything he answered.

Adrian smiled, “I’m sure, after what happened last night. But if you want to make sure Saito stays safe this is your best bet.”

Netto sighed and concentrated like he did the night before. Nothing happened for a little while until he thought, ‘I just want to make sure I can help Saito if I need to.’ After that happened there was a brief flash of light and Netto held his glaive securely in his hands.

Laika blinked and stared at it for a bit, unsure of what to say before Searchman offered his advice. “Hold it upright or it’s going to fall on something.”

Netto blushed and did as he was told while Adrian nodded. “Yes, I didn’t get to really see this thing last night. Very impressive.”

“What’s so important about these things anyway?” Netto asked.

“They’re the only way we can protect ourselves,” Adrian replied. “We can fly and we have these, that’s it. And if we can’t use them to their full potential then we had better hope we never get caught by the Dark Ones or we’re in very big trouble.”

“And Saito has survived this whole time?” Laika asked dubiously.

Adrian laughed softly, “Yeah I know. It’s amazed me too. Especially because he’s almost defeated the strongest one of em. Only thing is she was a lot weaker then. Still, that kid gets major kudos for getting as far as he has.”

Netto let go of the weapon and it disappeared. “I don’t want to try flying again,” he muttered.

Adrian smiled, “No, I would suspect not. We’ll save that for later. I bet your brother is done with his little adventure. I’ll take you two home now.”

Netto and Laika blinked and they were back in his room.

Two seconds later the door handle turned and a slightly harried looking Enzan and a sheepish looking Saito came into the room. “Hey,” Saito said softly.

“How’d it go?” Netto asked them.

“I… don’t like deleting viruses,” Saito admitted.

Enzan rolled his eyes so that only Laika and Searchman could see. Laika smiled sympathetically while Saito reiterated the story back to Netto. By the end of the tale Netto was in tears and Laika looked slightly hurt.

“It’s not that funny,” Saito pouted.

“Oh no, not you,” Netto giggled as he took back Rockman’s PET to put in the recharger for the day. “Enzan,” he said with a grin.

“Huh?” Saito asked.

Netto shook his head, “Nothing, nothing,” he said soothingly. “So, do you guys want to stay for dinner?” he asked Enzan and Laika.

They both exchanged glances then nodded. “Sure,” they said.

They all turned around to leave the room when Saito touched Netto’s shoulder softly. “I think you can take in your wings now,” he whispered.

Netto tried and sure enough he could tell that they were gone. “Thanks,” he whispered back.

Saito patted Netto’s shoulder and smiled mysteriously. “You get to tell me what you did with Adrian while I was gone later.”

Netto scratched the back of his head in wonder. “Wait, how did you know?”

Saito grinned, “I’m your older brother. Trust me, I know a lot more then you think.”

Rockman laughed as Saito left the room, “Older brother he is, Net Battler he is not.”

“Was it really that bad?” Netto asked Rockman.

Rockman took in a deep breath. “Let me put it this way, I really missed you today, Netto-kun.”

“Aw, thanks Rockman, that makes me feel better,” Netto laughed as he left his room.

Rockman shook his head amusedly and linked out of his PET to join everyone else downstairs for dinner.

Heh. It only makes sense, given his nature that was presented throughout the previous chapter or two...

Anyway, again this doesn't fail to put a smile on my face. It seemed somewhat dark how Adrian explained the situation to Netto, but givent eh circumstances, he'll need all of the help he can get. Good job.

After dinner all of the boys went back upstairs to Netto’s room to talk. Netto fell onto his bed with a heavy sigh and curled up around his pillow. “So now what?” he asked while looking over the soft anchor at his friends and brother.

Saito sighed and sat next to Netto. “I don’t know. As soon as it gets pitch black out she’s going to return. There’s no way around it.”

“Joy,” Netto muttered sarcastically.

Laika and Enzan exchanged looks and a silent agreement came up between the two. “We’re staying,” Laika announced while sitting in Netto’s computer chair.

“What?” Saito yelped. Netto nodded, he already figured his friends were going to say something like that and he wasn’t about to argue with two of the most stubborn people on the planet.

Enzan held up a hand before Saito could continue, “Look, it’s not like we’re just going to leave when we know that something will happen tonight. Just like Netto wouldn’t leave us in the same situation.”

Netto smiled, “I figured as much.”

Rockman nodded, “Don’t forget, if it gets really bad then maybe we can call Mejin-san for a dimensional area.”

Netto sighed, “Let’s avoid that though. Mejin-san would ask a lot of questions if we did that.”

Laika and Enzan both nodded, “If anything we can use our navi’s to take temporary control over the internet devices,” Laika said.

Searchman nodded from within his PET. “That’s a better plan because then it would be easier to blame on a virus attack if things got messy.”

Rockman’s laughter could be heard from his PET, “Getting a little devious, aren’t we Searchman?”

“I’m merely thinking like a soldier,” the navi defended himself.

Rockman nodded, “Yeah, his idea is the best.”

Saito gazed at them. “Are you so used to planning out battles that you can do this calmly?” he asked softly.

Netto shrugged and sat up. “We have to be,” he pointed out. “It’s not like I’m not used to fighting, or even flying because of cross fusion. Rockman, Searchman and Blues already know how to use the items that are part of the internet to attack things in the real world in case we can’t use cross fusion for some reason. Laika and Enzan both know how to fight in their own right like I do and we all Net Battle on a regular basis so we can stay in close touch with our navis. It’s pretty much a part of our lives, Saito.”

Saito frowned, “But you do it so easily,” he said softly.

Enzan sighed, “Well, the night before we planned our attack on Dark Blues to return him to normal, I was a wreck. It wasn’t an outward thing but Netto knew something was wrong.”

Netto grinned over his pillow, “I remember that.”

Enzan nodded, “We pretty much did what we are doing now. Planning out a good strategy and thinking of what we can do. When we finished I was much calmer for it and it made me feel like I had a plan to accomplish what I needed to do.”

“Because Enzan can’t do anything without a plan or a list,” Netto told Saito quietly.

Saito’s lips formed a quick grin before he looked at Netto, “I feel bad about depending on you though.”

Netto shook his head, “Don’t, Saito. We’re all here to help, whether you like it or not.”

Rockman nodded, “That’s right. Everyone here wants to help you Saito. You don’t need to be so distant.”

Netto grinned and grabbed Saito in a loose chokehold. “Enzan, Laika, Searchman and Blues really aren’t ones to give pep talks but they feel the same way,” he laughed and let Saito go.

Saito straightened up and smiled at all of them. “Thanks guys,” he said softly.

A second later Adrian appeared in the room scaring everyone. “Hey kids, did I miss the party?” he asked.

Netto blinked then fell on his back while trying to catch his breath. Saito patted his chest and took several deep breaths, “Warn us next time,” he said softly.

Adrian blinked then laughed. “Sorry kids. I didn’t mean to startle you. Lady Eleanor thought it would be wise if you had someone experienced tonight. She’s got her hands full keeping the Guardian headquarters safe from the invaders. Unfortunately the sunlight limit doesn’t exist for all of the dark ones.”

“And they can’t help more to take down their leader?” Enzan asked with a raised eyebrow.

“More like can’t,” Adrian said with a frown. “I barely got down here without being noticed, I’d hate to see what would happen if we led the battle to earth.”

Enzan blinked, “Oh.”

“So… we’re just gonna wait now?” Netto asked.

Adrian shrugged, “Not much else we can do, kid. Laina’s the one attacking, not us.”

“Maybe we should go outside,” Laika suggested. “So Netto’s house is okay.”

“I like that plan,” Netto said while jumping up off his bed.

Rockman laughed, “Yes, it’s a good plan. And I have an even better one.”

“Oh?” Netto asked. “Do tell.”

Rockman grinned as he told them his plan for taking down Laina.

Netto sighed happily as he leaned back on the bleachers. “I am so glad it’s summer,” he laughed. “Or I would be miserable.”

Enzan nodded, “I know you would. I haven’t forgotten our last mission in Sharro.”

“I didn’t whine that much,” Netto protested.

“Yes, you did,” Rockman answered for Enzan.

Netto crossed his arms, “It was cold,” he muttered.

“Yes, I’m well aware,” Enzan said dryly.

Saito giggled softly, “You seem to have been on many missions,” he said.

“Many,” Laika answered. “And I can’t say I care for the ones in Sharro either.”

“Why not?” Saito asked.

“I’m not fond of military style missions because Netto feels the need to complain excessively every time he hands in a report.”

“Because military style reports are a pain in the ass,” Netto countered hotly.

“That’s true,” Rockman admitted. “They are.”

“Shh,” Adrian said suddenly.

Laina stepped out of a shadow onto the high school football field. “So, you kids decided to take this battle away from home? Smart choice,” she smirked. She reached down and pulled her jet black sword out of the ground. “It’s not going to save you though.”

Adrian swung his weapon at her and blocked her attack at the last second. “Hey there, I’d like a rematch,” he said with a cheeky grin.

“I’d love to destroy you,” she hissed and lunged at him.

Netto jumped off the bleachers and plugged Rockman into the system. “Ready when you are,” he muttered into his PET.

“I’m all set over here,” Enzan replied.

Saito held his breath for a few seconds before Laika’s reply came over Netto’s PET. “I’m all set too,” he muttered.

“Ready, set…” Netto said slowly.

Then the whole stadium became flooded with the bright lights. Laina hissed as her weapon slowly disappeared. Adrian smirked at her, “Looks like we found your weakness.”

Laina laughed and vanished herself. “Not exactly,” she whispered in Adrian’s ear. “You merely intensified your shadows for me.”

“It didn’t work!” Rockman yelled.

“Adrian!” Saito yelled.

Adrian swallowed hard. “So, are you going to kill me then?” he asked her with a lopsided grin.

“Why not? I haven’t had anywhere near enough fun lately,” she smirked and drew her sword up to Adrian’s neck. “I promise this will hurt, a lot.”

Netto ran out onto the field and slid into Laina, knocking her legs out from under her and sending her to the ground. Adrian took that chance to grab Netto and fly into the air. “Thanks kid,” he said breathlessly while landing a little over to the side. “I thought I was a goner.”

“Blues!” Enzan yelled while plugging his navi into the heating system as Laina crossed the concession stands to get to Saito.

The fire came out of the ovens and hit the dark one with a vengeance. Saito ran in the other direction as fast as he could.

“We need to save your brother,” Adrian said quickly.

“Right,” Netto agreed as he summoned his weapon. Then he turned around and plugged Rockman into the system. “Help Searchman and Blues in any way you can,” he told his navi. “Laika, Enzan, Rockman is in your hands right now.”

“Okay,” their voices came over Netto’s PET as Rockman appeared next to Searchman in the other concession stand.

Laina pulled another sword out of her own shadow with a smirk. “As thought out as that plan was, it was certainly stupid,” she laughed. “Saito-chan, your existence is mine.”

“That was a lame line,” Netto yelled as he parried her strike with his own weapon. “You’re the bad guy, can’t you think of anything better to say?”

“Netto-kun…” Saito said softly.

“Netto, stop provoking your enemy,” Laika’s voice yelled over his PET.

Netto rolled his eyes and pushed Laina back with his weapon. “But it was lame,” he said with a huff as he attacked her himself.

Laina’s face contorted into an ugly mask as she attacked Netto. Netto, on his part was doing fairly well with blocking her attacks. He wasn’t anywhere near as fast as he was in cross fusion, but he was fast enough for his own comfort. “Stay away from Saito,” he growled at her.

Laina sprang back and landed on her feet. “You got lucky kid, it looks like your little trick did enough to keep me from being able to kill you, barely,” she said with a cruel smile.

Netto backed up and stood in front of Saito. “Hear that Rockman?” he asked loudly. “Your plan worked!”

Laina yelled her rage and attacked Netto blindly. He sidestepped her and knocked her into the grass.

“Making the enemy loose their cool in battle, huh?” Enzan asked softly. “You would know a lot about that.”

Netto’s eyebrow twitched slightly, “Ignoring that, what time is it?”

“11:34,” Rockman replied automatically.

Netto groaned as Laina stood up. She chuckled and picked up her sword. “Can you keep this up all night, brat?” she asked him as she lunged forward.

Netto parried the strike, “If I have to,” he said with a smirk.

Adrian came up behind Laina and threw his weapon at her. She parried it and Netto took the opening to attack her once again. Laina was quick and managed to dodge and jump smoothly out of the way.

“Stupid brats,” she hissed. “I’m not giving up.”

“That’s nice,” Adrian said with a calm smile. “While your army is attacking the Guardians what can you by yourself do?”

Laina grinned, “Don’t think I became the leader of my kind for nothing,” she hissed. She raised her hand and the shadows on the ground began to grow and spread while they enveloped everything on the field. “I can do a lot more then you give me credit for,” she sneered as she broke all of the lights, plunging the field into darkness.

Netto looked around as the lights disappeared. Now he only had the lights of the city to see by. Laina yelled and came up behind them where Netto barely managed to block her. She intensified the force of the blow and knocked Netto off balance before flinging him halfway across the field.

“Netto!” Saito yelled out as he took off after his twin. Netto hissed in pain as he sat up. “Are you all right?” Saito asked him.

Netto rubbed the back of his head, “I’m fine,” he said softly.

Laina smacked Adrian in the other direction and walked over to Netto and Saito. “Well, well, well,” she smirked.

“Netto?” Laika’s voice came scratchy over his PET.

Saito stood up and held his arms out in front of Netto. “Do it,” he hissed. “Kill me, but leave him alone.”

“Saito!” Netto gasped.

“No,” Saito said softly. “It’s my fault you’re in this mess, and I don’t want to see you get hurt.”

Laina’s eyes lit up, “So you’re just going to lay your pitiful existence down for that brat?” she asked him.

“I will,” he said to her.

Enzan and Laika could both sense where the battle was currently turning. “Netto, get out of there!” they yelled.

“What?” Netto asked.

Laina snapped her fingers and several shadows came out of the ground and wrapped themselves around Enzan and Laika. Neither boy could move or speak into their PET’s anymore.

“Hey!” Netto yelled as he lunged himself at her once again, “They’re not your enemies, I am!”

She smirked and backed away, and struck back, hard. “You think you’re a match for me?” she sneered.

Adrian came out at that moment but before he could so much as throw his own weapon he took was trapped in her shadows.

Netto looked around while Saito ran in front of him. “Stop,” he hissed. “We can’t win.”

“That’s what you think,” Netto snapped. “I don’t give up.”

Laina laughed and ran forward, “You’re an annoying little brat, you know that?”

Netto grinned and brought his glaive around in a full circle. “I’ve been told that by people worse then you.”

Laina laughed and raised up her hand, Netto blinked and felt something grab onto his left wrist. He pulled at it but found he was tethered to the ground by one of her shadows. “Netto-kun, pull back your weapon, now!” Saito yelled in a panic.

Netto’s eyes widened as he recalled what Adrian had told him earlier. Quickly he released his hold on the weapon and watched as it vanished.

Laina smirked and caught Netto into a similar trap to that of his friends. “Well now,” she said to Saito. “Looks like it’s just you and me.”

Saito took in a deep, shaky breath. “Go ahead, just leave them alone.”

Laina smirked, “You think I’m going to let you off that easily after the humiliation you put me though?” she asked. “I don’t think so. Let me show you just how useless you really are,” she said as she pointed her sword at Netto’s throat.

“NO!” Saito yelled.

Netto glared at her, “That’s low,” he growled.

“I’m not going to kill you, yet,” she told him with a chilly smile. “I’ll go even lower,” she said and vanished.

Saito ran towards her but realized he was too late. She was gone, and so was Netto.

Good god. Please excuse me while I scoop my jaw off of the floor.

This was quite good. Different than your usual chapters full of characterization through non-combat adventures. This combat seemed to be quite well-done. It had me almost to the edge of my seat for the entire latter half of the chapter.

And now the plot winds down. This seems to be building to something quite spectacular. I'm hoping that you will make it fantastic. Great job.

Saito fell to his knees and looked at where they had been only moments before. “No…” he said softly. “Damnit!” he hissed and hit the ground with his fist.

Enzan and Laika picked themselves off the ground now that they were released from their constraints and ran over to Saito. “Are you…” Enzan said softly.

Saito stood up and shook his head silently. “I’m going home,” he said softly. “Rest assured I will think of something but right now…” he drifted off and walked away.

Adrian came over and put his hands on the two boy’s shoulders. “Let him be, kids. If you want to help Netto then come with me, we’ll think of something.”

Enzan and Laika both looked up at him and nodded. Adrian was impressed to note that neither boy was panicking like he thought they would. There was obvious concern and worry in their eyes but both of them remained cool and collected, something Saito obviously was not.

Adrian nodded back with a tiny smile, “Let’s go,” he said and led them in a different direction.

Saito rushed upstairs without a word and ran into Netto’s room where he fell on the bed and began to sob into his pillow. “Why?” he hissed into the pillow. “Why did I come down here? I should have just stayed where I was and listen to Lade Eleanor…”

“Come now child, we both know you don’t mean that,” a cold voice snapped behind him.

Saito sat up and whirled around to see the tall lady behind him. “Lady Eleanor,” he gasped, “What are you…”

“I make some effort to look in on my little projects and I’m sorry to see this one isn’t turning out so well. However, we both know that these past few weeks on earth have been the happiest in your short life. Why do you defile it with those thoughts of yours, hm?”

Saito dragged his arms across his eyes and took in a deep breath. “No, I don’t,” he admitted.

Lady Eleanor patted him on the head. “That’s a good child. I knew you didn’t mean it. So, now Adrian has taken control of Netto-kun’s friends and you are here. What will you do?”

“I’m going to get Netto-kun back,” Saito said with confidence. Then with a start he realized who else was missing, “and Rockman,” he added with realization.

Lady Eleanor nodded, “Very good choice, child. How?”

Saito frowned, “I’ll… I’ll fight alone if I have to. But I have to try something!” he said. “Anything…”

Lady Eleanor gave him a genuine smile. “It’s nice to see you openly sharing your feelings after all these years.”

Saito rubbed his arm, “I want Netto-kun and Rockman back,” he admitted. “I need them.”

“As is it should be,” Lady Eleanor said fairly and walked over to Netto’s dresser and looked around. “I’m sure I felt…” she picked up the lid of a small trinket box and smiled. “Here we are.”

Saito looked and saw his crystal hanging from a thin chain. “Netto-kun had it?” he gasped.

“I don’t think he wanted you to feel pressured. He wanted you to be happy, Saito-kun,” she said with a smile as she handed him the chain. “He cares for you very much.”

Saito held it tightly, “I know,” he whispered.

“What are you going to do?” she asked him.

Saito looked at the crystal then put it over his head, “I am going to get my little brother and his navi back. And defeat Laina if I can.”

Lady Eleanor nodded, clearly pleased, “I wish you luck then. Good bye,” she said and vanished.

Saito looked out of the window, “Netto-kun,” he said softly. He adopted a more serious look and took off into the night, “I’m coming,” he said softly. “I promise, I’ll save you, like you saved me.”

Adrian looked around and grinned, “Hm? Interesting.”

“What is?” Enzan asked as he looked at the tall angel.

Adrian shook his head, “Nothing. Just mind your work, kid. These light bursts are the only thing that will weaken her but I don’t have the technology smarts to wire em.”

Enzan shrugged as he closed another metallic ball and set it to the side, “It’s not that hard,” he murmured.

“Then why are you shaking?” Adrian asked him softly.

Enzan looked at his hands, then blushed. “I’m tired,” he growled and grabbed another light burst to wire.

Adrian nodded, “I’m sure, I’m sure. You’ve been up all night and then some. Think you kids can handle a second round?”

Laika’s eyes became sharp, “We’ve been through worse,” he hissed. “Don’t underestimate us.”

Adrian nodded, “Oh I’m sure, I’m sure,” he said again. He looked out into the night and smiled softly, “Saito has his wings back, huh?” he asked the sky. “How interesting.”

Laika frowned as he worked and his anxiety became greater and greater as time wore on.

“Laika-san?” Searchman asked him softly.

“Hm?” Laika asked.

“Are you all right?”

Laika blinked, “I’m… fine. Everything will be fine.”

Searchman frowned, “Yes, Laika-san.”

Laika shut the sphere with a snap. “He better be fine,” he hissed. “For his sake.”

Enzan, who was only a few feet away nodded his consent silently.

Laina looked at the child who was currently trapped inside a clear energy sphere in his guardian form and completely unconscious at the moment. His navi or whatever it was had stopped yelling at her a while ago and merely took to sitting quietly in his PET, waiting for his operator to wake up.

Laina’s eyes flicked to him constantly. She marveled just how much he looked his Saito, almost to the point where it annoyed her. It was a pity he had taken back his weapon so soon, she could have had some real fun if she had managed to get a hold of it.

Netto groaned softly and pushed up against the side of the sphere while holding his head. “Ow…” he muttered. “What?”

Immediately Rockman came back to life. “Netto-kun!” he gasped. “You’re okay!”

Netto blinked and looked around. “Hey!” he yelled.

Laina smirked and stood up, walking over to the large bubble that Netto was currently trying to push his way out of. “You finally woke up,” she smirked. “Sure took you long enough.”

Netto growled at her, “What do you want?” he snapped.

Laina popped the bubble without any effort and stood in front of Netto as he blinked, obviously confused. “My dear child, I want revenge. And I’m going to get it too,” she said with a smirk.

Netto backed up while Laina held up her hand as Netto’s crystal fell from her closed hand. “Going to leave without this? I don’t suggest it?” she said with a grin as she squeezed it. “It’s connected to you now. Don’t think you’ll escape me without it.”

Netto took in a sharp breath and collapsed onto his knees. Laina let it glow briefly then let it vanish from her grip. “Besides,” she said as she dragged Netto to his feet. “You can’t go running around the human world with these,” she said while running a finger down one of his wings, “now can we?”

“Let him go!” Rockman yelled.

Laina did as Rockman suggested and let Netto fall to the ground. “Ow…” he hissed as he picked himself up.

“Your twin is the bane of my existence,” she hissed. “And trust me when I say this. I will make his departure from this world as painful as possible.”

Netto stood up with a yell and landed an unexpected punch on Laina’s face. Netto blinked, amazed that he managed to hit her. Laina brought her head around and smiled at him as she cracked her neck. “Stubborn little brat, aren’t you?” she asked him sweetly.

Netto took a step back and had half a mind to take flight but Laina was too quick. She grabbed onto him and shoved him backwards where he fell onto the ground, hard. Netto swore as the clear force field appeared around him again. “Get out of that if you can,” she teased.

Netto stood up and hit it with his fists, but he could tell it was a lost battle. “I hate you,” he said venomously.

Laina smiled and bowed, “Thank you dear. I try, I try.” She turned around to go sit on a stone. “I’ll make sure your death is painful too, brat,” she hissed as she touched her stinging cheek.

Indeed she is, Neko.

Anyway...another rather venomous chapter. And by venomous I use that term to refer to Laina's character. You do such a good job of making her the supreme antagonist, and this time, I felt that she was more detailed than that of some of the other villains that you have introduced in your docket of stories.

I look forward to the next chapter as always. Good job. :D
