The mass-producing copy chip thing, really DOES make sense indeed.
Think about it: normally for specific tasks, you would require an specific reploid because of its abilities, perfect for that job (like Frost Walrus, for brute force, etc...).
But that would cost too much money, and not to mention the rarity of some metals needed for their creation.
But thanks to the copy chip, any reploid CAN become any other in existence, having every ability packed, all in one.
That way, it would be easier to colonize space, create a new future and stuff, but after the incident...
(The idea of having some reploids turning into ancient mavericks like Chill Peguin would be SOOO awesome. )

That is a problem for sigma because if the reploid copy him, they could think like him . That mean they could all turn against him wanting to do their own army because they aren't infected. _________________ Pray Megaman as your God. |

uhm? copying ones body doesn't immeadeatly relate to copying ones thoughtpattern...you saw the copy-sigmas around lumine, they didn't go Irregular on instance...however, if X were to decide that the human race has no more value and turns on them, that would be choice, and Reploids are known to be able to CHOOSE to BECOME IRREGULAR, though in most cases lies infection of the Irregular virus...
like VAVA, I don't think he WENT irregular, but he CHOSE to follow Sigma, two different things... _________________ -'MOTTO CHIKARAWO~!!-

I think what they mean is sigma wouldn't want that because if they copied sigma they could take over his organization and kick him out. |

Something about this has caused me to think about it for some time.
In Command Mission, Axl mentions that his copy ability was developed in Giga City. He also mentioned that there were a few other Reploids who also had the same ability. Yet in X8, it clearly shows that the copy chips have been in mass production.
And before anyone says anything about the mass productions taking place after the Giga City investigation, the events in Command Mission occur AFTER the events in X8. _________________

Well, there's no real way of telling when that actually happened; we only know when Axl found out.
Even though he knows 'what' he is, being a prototype of what he saw, it would probably be of interest to him to find out how he himself was developed rather than the mass-produced final versions.
Of course, this could be another silly X plothole that I'm thinking into too much :/ _________________ Greatness is achieved through the pursuit of greatness. |

Actually, MMX8 explains a lot of stuff about Command Mission:
- After X8 they stopped the production of Copy CHips and recalled most of the Copy Reploids who hadn't gone maveirck yet. But it says at the end that there was illegal production of further chips years later.
- This is why in CM, Axl was at Giga City and said there were only a few others who could Copy. They were either ones who just had the ability (like Axl) or they obtained illegal Copy Chips.
- Redips, he was a surviving Copy Reploid from X8 who apparently went into hiding and infiltrated the Hunters, becoming the head of Eastern division and using his position to try and get the Supra-Force Metal from Epsilon. When that failed he used X and Zero to kill him and get the metal.
Didn't he seem kind of like Sigma at the end? He even had marks on his face like Sigma. the Sigma in him was taking over.
- X8 also explains how Axl's powers increased (he can beocme something bigger than him, when in X7 and X8 he couldn't). It was Lumine's tentacle attack. It boosted his powers |

Axl can actually transform into reploids and mechaniloids of similar size and shape. If memory serves, the mass-produced copy chips only allow a certain design to be duplicated, but doesn't actually transform the reploid. I think Axl was referring to a few other reploids with his specific ability. |

Whoa! I didn't really think that Command Mission had really taken place right after X 8. Well, at least that it puts the fears of Axl going Maverick to rest for now. I didn't know that the copy chips went from going to be legit production to illegal produce. It's really a shame and a waste. I mean, the people of that world could've done a lot of good with those chips if they have just anaylzed those chips more carefully. They would have just taken out the data that contains that of Sigma's and safely used them without having to worry about the reploids using them going Maverick. I'm just glad that Axl was just a prototype or otherwise we'd see blood on his hands. Thank you for listening.

I think CM still takes place some years ahead of X8, given the 22XX date, which is also when the meteor fell. X9 will tell us for sure, no doubt.
Regarding Axl's Chameleon Chip being developed in Giga City, I think I finally figured out what happened so that it makes sense...
It was mistranslated.
Well, misinterpreted, at least. I think what Axl has meant to say is that more chips like his were developed in Giga City, not so much that his specifically was created there originally.
As far as going Maverick, well, I'm going to give Capcom the benefit of the doubt for now until they're able to further explain themselves, and assume that MAYBE in copying Sigma's body, that somehow whatever mental conditions were present that lead to Sigma's decision somehow manifested in the copies Reploids as well. I can accept this a little more readily, since they are mechanical lifeform, seemingly created with the hand of Sigma somehow involved at the start, and typically mass-created robots(I imagine even Reploids) of a type seem to share similar mindsets.
Of course, the same might be said of biological life forms in some cases, too. I imagine most if not all polar bears would naturally prefer a cooler climate, for example.
Also, off of my little rationalization tangent there, I really like the idea now that the repeat boss battles are Reploids mimicking the bosses. Adds a sort of freshness to the idea that doesn't really affect the original characters.

|
|
Well, about the reploids that could copy other reploids of different designs and abilities, the could actually be used to adapt to any enviroment that they are in. Now, think about this for a moment, now if one of the old boss Reploids from one of the X series titles like say, Rainy Turtloid frome X 6 for example, were to be copied by one of these New Generation Reploids, that very reploid could possess the ability to defend against any type of weapon or chemical like very strong acid.
As for the New Generation Reploids going Maverick, there really isn't a danger of copying one's own physical structure which is a brilliant choice of defense for any type of viruses that could threaten to turn them Maverick. Example: If a New Generation reploid were to be in a situation where there's nothing but traces of Sigma Virus all over the area, that reploid could turn into another reploid that could resist the effects of the Sigma Virus. I mean, think about it, there could be a flaw in the copy chips that not only allows a New Generation Reploid to copy one reploids own unique physical structure, but to gain their thought patterns and memories as well. Now, take one of the reploids from X 4 for example like Storm Owl, now would you all think that if a New Generation Reploid were to copy the physical traits of that reploid as well as his thought patterns, would he become Maverick?
As for the Copy Chips being cost effective for the human's finanical gain. Sure, it cuts back on all of the supplies, metals, and equipment necessary to construct a certain reploid. However, without thinking about the consequences, I'd say that trying to save money and materials would be the least of their worries.
Well, that's all that I have to say about this topic. Later!

I think it's good. It does make sense, but why does Axl's look crappy in comparison? I mean, okay, so he's a [spoil:dcaf9560b4]prototype[/spoil:dcaf9560b4], but doesn't that mean he can at least transform into a useful enemy? [spoil:dcaf9560b4]And when he transforms into a humanoid reploid, he has a completely useless salute attack.[/spoil:dcaf9560b4] _________________ EXEHQ. Click now, I demand it.

...his attack actually involves throwing bombs in that mode.
I wanted him to be able to turn into Mettaurs or Copy Sigma... *grumble*

If you could become Copy Sigma, the game would be WAY to easy. But if you transform into bosses, like Burn Rooster, that'd be understandable. They wouldn't make the game super easy, just a little easier, and you could use some cool attacks with them. _________________ EXEHQ. Click now, I demand it.

Would it? It's not like you'd be able to use him anywhere but the last level, and those were relatively weak compared to the first one.

Eh, I'd think they'd make it easier than Sigma. 'Sides, you're talking bosses, I'm talking stage enemies.

Never seen a boss copies for gameplay, so nah. 'Sides, beat the boss, stage is over, and you lose the core. Defeats the purpose, ne?
