Yay, another cell phone game Westerners won't get to play. All that is known about it so far is that Crosses will be available, such as Search Cross (not Search Soul) and there is a new Cowboy themed boss. |

Just when they released the "Secret Illustrations Guide" and everything. I was already accepting the fact that the EXE series is done, and then this comes up. XD I hope artwork of the new characters and crosses will be available... if at all. >_>
It's nice to see Searchman back after the 5th game. And when you get passed the fact that the cowboy navi looks like another cowboy navi I've heard about, Lawless.EXE, he doesn't look too bad. =P _________________ ~スライダーちゃん~

When I first saw the cowboy navi, I thought he looked a bit like Dynamo from the X Series at first glace. :P
I wonder where this story will fit into the timeline of games. Between 5 and 6, mayhaps? _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

;_; SEARCH CROSSSSS?!??!?!? ;_;
I swear, when it comes to Rockman games, we really get the short end of the stick.
...How do they fit a game that requires a lot of programming like a Rockman.EXE game on a cell phone anyway? o.o _________________ The time is come. Bid farewell to your bloodstained past.

As long as they eventually make a Battle Network collection and remember to include all the spin-off games they've made, cellphone games included, I'll be happy. -.-
EXE started on the freakin GBA. How do you "officially" end the series and then continue to releases games on another system? _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

Huh, that's interesting. You think they'll have any new versions of old navis this phone game? Or will it just be like hatman/jammingman. |

See Classic Series and X Series. That's how. Even though they weren't "officially" ended, it's the same, they were supposed to be. C'mon, you didn't actually believe that "officially done" bit, did you? This is Capcom! If money can be made, any series they have will come back for more. :] Good to hear EXE is not totally dead.
Since it's a phone game, I won't complain about the crappy Search Cross-ish sprite design. But then again, the rest of the graphics didn't seem to lose much by the looks of things, so maybe I should. I like how Cowboy Navi's got tumbleweeds on the field. Maybe there's a chance one or two unused classic characters will finally get their navi reincarnation, although I doubt it. (Is that maybe what you really meant, Unknown Neo?) _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II

In a way though, this doesn't surprise me. Every kind of change for Rockman has been in two games if you think about it:
Armours: EXE 1 and Transmission
Styles: EXE 2 and 3
Souls: EXE 4 and 5
Crosses: EXE 6,
Crosses were the only ones that didn't fit into the pattern and now they do. But yeah, the inevitable lack of artwork for the game as it's a mobile game will be irritating. _________________

See Classic Series and X Series. That's how. |
Except none of the Classic or X games had a "this is the end of the series" statement in them like EXE 6 did. Now, granted, they haven't made a new (non remake) Classic or X game in ages, but they haven't bothered wrapping up their plotlines either. So if they up and, say, made a Megaman 9, it wouldn't be much of surprise.
They did that with EXE 6. Everyone grows up, peace reigns, roll credits, tell everybody about the next series in the timeline. Hell, they did that with Zero and ZX. Have you seen them releasing any Zero games saying "Whoops! We know we told everybody Zero's REALLY dead and gone this time, but we decided to make another game for him on cellphones, just for the hell of it." Nope. Zero 4 connects directly to ZX, period. So why the hell are they making another EXE game and giving us some lame excuse about how (EXE 6 ending spoilers)[spoil:20287eb4b3]the Iris/Colonel security system didn't REALLY end major crime and bring about an era of peace?[/spoil:20287eb4b3]
EXE and Zero have resolutions. They "officially" ended. Classic and X did not have resolutions, atleast not outside the BnG Cataclysm movies. They have not "officially" ended. Legends is just, I dunno, out there or something. Maybe Capcom will get their lazy asses into gear and make a third Legends for the Wii to tie up loose ends or something. _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

Well, yeah, that's why:
I wrote: | Even though they weren't "officially" ended... |
But there are endings in the classic and X series games that could have been understood as ones that could wrap up the series, but are also given enough leeway so that a sequel could be produced if/when Capcom wanted to. Or they just say, "No, that ending wasn't supposed to be canon." X5, for example.
Now I haven't played BN6 to know the exact wording, but I have seen the final credits/description of the end from the Japanese version. (Not a spoilers person, so sue me) But 1) - I don't think it talks about the next series (Ryuusei) does it? and 2) - that ending still leaves quite a gap that any kind of story could be put together for an EXE 7 before that supposed future. Or, like in the case of Transmission, you can make a game that is supposed to be in a earlier period, even though the story has progressed/ended. Just because [spoil:c0f05c20ca]there is peace on an evil netcrime organization level, does that mean netbattling came to a standstill or that society itself was in such harmony there was absolutely no crime at all? Saying there is "peace" is just a little device they use to fill the time gap.[/spoil:c0f05c20ca] You can easily work around that if you're creative enough. But then again, if EXE 7 was merely a tournament game again, I could hear the haters groaning with excitement. :]
Disclaimer here: [spoil:c0f05c20ca] if there was something in 6's ending about the net and every Navi being destroyed because of Iris/Colonel (I don't remember), I suppose that makes my argument pretty weak. If there's no net, guess you can't have an EXE game.[/spoil:c0f05c20ca] But since you didn't mention it, I hope what I've said has at least some validity.
I dunno. I know what you mean, I'm not trying to say you don't have a point, but I just thought that 6's ending was such a weak, bland, cookie-cutter cop-out that I don't hold much value in it being considered an absolute resolution. Zero series, sure, totally agree with that, but for the rest, these are more or less created in order to milk 'em for all they're worth, not for a clear, concise plot over a limited number of games. That's what I'm really getting at. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II
