I went to Pony Canyon's site (they print the DVDs) and found cleaner scans of 15 and 16's box artwork (though they're not very large). You can see them here and here. Still no sign of 17 and Beast 01's box artwork, though Pony Canyon DOES have pages up for both of them. We'll just have to wait a little bit longer. I assume they'll start showing up around the time 15 and 16 release. However, in other news, I also found that both Beast 02 and Beast 03 are scheduled to release on August 18th. They're really pumping these DVDs out now... _________________

Hey, what do you know, duo does have a body. This would be a great thing to have, but it is a bunch of raw eps. Oh well. |

Well, I was right about Stream 17's cover, but to a lesser degree. While the artwork of Netto and Rockman in the center fold is new, all of the other 12 Cross Fusion Members that occupy the background are just rehashed artwork from the previous DVDs. Weak. (Notice that R Colonel is especially, disproportionately huge.) I guess laziness is a Stream trademark.
I also discovered that there have been VHS versions of all these DVDs the entire time! There also seems to be an alternate DVD version specifically for rental, but I'm not quite sure what that's about. Nonetheless, the DVD rental covers are slightly altered to match the VHS covers. For the most part, the VHS and DVD rental covers use the same artwork, but there's a few occasions (like Stream 01 and 02) that has new artwork.
See for yourself... Go to Pony Canyon's site...

Now go to a website that has the Japanese writing for "Rokkuman Eguze," copy it, paste it into the search field in the top-right corner of that page, search, and enjoy. I always go to http://www.sokopara.net for quick access to the Japanese characters. (It's the very first sentence on the entire page.) _________________

Sorry for the double-post, but I consulted Heat Man about this "for rental" crap. He's not completely sure either, but presumably in Japan, they release movies separately in "rental" versions that you can't actually purchase. These versions probably don't have any special features or bonuses; just straight episodes and nothing more. EXE is released in both DVD and VHS for rent, but it's only available in DVD for purchase. That's a smidge disappointing because I figured being able to import VHS tapes would be perfect for those who don't want to fight regional protection, but oh well. _________________

Yeah, usually a week to 2 weeks before the DVD hits stores, a rental version comes out. That is why if you buy an R2 DVD, it has Sale Only printed on its cover. _________________ Once I was Dr Kain, but I died and have been reborn as Gankutsuou. |
