Next week's episode will feature (highlight)Shouken Chiyokichi and Cancer Bubble.

And yes, Misora's seiyuu, Fukuen Misato, sings Heart Wave. Another interesting thing is that Harp Note's Pulse Song attack is literally a heart wave.

Random: I still find it amusing how Tsukasa's other half, Hikaru, has a commonly female name. XD

I wonder if Capcom is trying to promote anti-gay implications by constantly making effeminate male characters who are usually mentally deranged and evil (like, say, Elpizo in Zero 2, Lumine in X8, or Narcy in EXE)... Or maybe I'm giving Capcom too much credit.

First off, gay and effeminate are by far not the same thing.

Second off, Japanese culture (if I recall correctly) praises effeminate characteristics in men. I'd be willing to wager that the sole reason some of the villains in Capcom's more recent works are so effeminate is that it enhances their masculine image.

No duh. That's why I said anti-gay IMPLICATIONS. While effeminacy and homosexuality are indeed not the same, there is often a correlation, and effeminacy usually implies some degree of homosexuality.

That makes no sense whatsoever. You're contradicting yourself. Effeminacy cannot "enhance" masculinity because effeminacy is the complete opposite of masculinity. So how can you say that making a villain more effeminate is going to at the same time make them more masculine, or in other words, "girly" traits making someone "manly?" That doesn't work.

Getting defensive, are we? I didn't happen to strike a nerve, did I?

As far as your first point goes, that's simply not true and based solely on stereotypes. It's like saying that Irish nationality generally implies a stupid, violent drunkard, or that Islam as a religion generally implies a fanatic willing to die for an extremist cause. Bite the bullet and accept that you were wrong; no matter what angle you approach it from, trying to equate gay men to feminine men is bigotry.

Furthermore, "promote anti-gay implications" doesn't make a whole lot of grammatical sense. Either you're literally saying Capcom is attempting to get people caught up in some kind of anti-gay event, or your use of "promote" and "imply" together is pointlessly redundant. For Capcom to imply an anti-gay viewpoint, they're intrinsically promoting it on some scale.

With regards to your second point, the masculine image and masculinity, while similar, are not quite the same thing. The former is a depiction of what defines an idealized male, and the latter is a collection of traits typically associated with that image. While I was vague about my exact meaning, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out that my use of the word "effeminate" is based on the Western viewpoint, whereas my use of phrase "masculine image" is based upon the Japanese ideal.

To put it in terms that'll no doubt be easier for you to digest, Capcom made the bad guys into bishonen so they'd look more badass.

There's a pretty strong yin-yang theme with Gemini. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Tsukasa makes up the white half of Gemini Spark, doesn't he? That would make sense, at least, since Yin is dark and feminine, so a female name would be fitting for the black half of Gemini Spark.

...Getting back on topic...

This ep did make up for the last... 4 or 6 fightwise. Good fight, but there were some very boneheaded moves made by all parties involved.

Gemini Spark: The Denpa Net does not go underwater, therefore, no teleporting for you.

Subaru: Taking on an elec element enemy underwater is a good way to die fast. Ruining your reputation with the head of police just when he was beginning to trust you is also not very bright.

Misora: Announcing your prescence to a powerful enemy by singing a song at high volume isn't very wise.

I can't blame Misora's manager for not noticing Subaru and Spark Black though. He was preoccupied with Misora going missing way back in 11, and the two combatants were still in radio form; he wouldn't be able to see or hear them anyway. That scene did have the best fighting in the episode, oddly enough.

I am confused, inspector Goyoda could see Rockman earlier when he released the viruses. Couldn't Rockman have destroyed the virus truck while remaining in radio form? I first thought both Rockman and Gemini were visible during the fight. Although I found it strange why they would let themselves been seen in that situation.

Would Kanata Kintarou (the manager) be wounded if he didn't move his head away when Gemini moved his sword?

Okay, for Goyoda, I'm assuming that in order to physically interact with a real world object in that manner, Subaru had to be in the real world as well, visible to all who would look up at the truck. Remember that in the past, Goyoda has used his Tranzer to track Subaru, implying that he was invisible to the naked eye.

For the manager, I'm pretty sure that they were in radio form then, for it would be awfully hard to miss two costumed weirdos sword fighting in your apartment. As to why he didn't get hurt: radio beings can't directly touch people that way, plus they were fighting away to his left. Towards the end of the scene, you can see Subaru leap onto the edge of the coffee table, showing that there was some distance between the two.

To offer an explanation to them being on solid objects while in radio form: the denpa net is in the air, and doesn't pass through objects on the ground such as the aforementioned coffee table, so an FM can't pass through it, only touch the top or sides (or underside if it's lifted). I would only assume that the walls and floors of buildings and certain other structures are different so that signals can pass between computers and whatnot without interference.

They were constantly shifting through the realms in this fight, so it's easy to lose track.

He is correct actually, though he worded his statement vaguely. Men with aesthetic sense and value, aka metrosexuals, are the ones who are praised highly, especially in entertainment. Ever hear of JE? All girly men. Who do fangirls alike craze over? The bishounen characters. It's similar to the statement "real men wear pink".

I think Rockman and Gemini Spark actually were there in the physical world as the anime usually makes it obvious. Kanata Kintarou is just an idiot. He was an idiot in the games and he's an idiot here. I wouldn't be surprised if the two were fighting in the physical world.

Yes, Kintarou would have been injured. As shown, even while in the form of waves, Denpa Ningen can still touch the material world.

Yes, that would be correct, except Tsukasa is also more commonly a girl's name. XD

I wasn't trying to make war with this, and if you couldn't tell by the wording of my post, there was a slight twang of sarcasm with it all. "Or maybe I'm giving Capcom too much credit." I'm the last person who would be discriminating against someone based on their orientation.

Bottom line is, yes, effeminacy has an implication of homosexuality, regardless of any modern tolerance conditioning you may have been through to deny it. Stereotypical? Of course. While there's no true correlation between the two, you can't deny that they do commonly occur together. And stereotypes are based on these kind of connections, whether they're misconstrued or not, and many of which no longer hold true at all.

Regardless, stereotypes are common in many forms of media because they're nearly universal to the audience. So it's not in the slightest bit a result of "bigotry" to make a connection between effeminacy and homosexuality.

I was just trying to express a sort of observation about Capcom's recent trend with villains and effiminacy. Maybe if you would snap yourself out of this advocative persona for half a second, you would realize that I wasn't trying to express any kind of negative views toward homosexuals. You don't need to defend them, or rather, us.

At last the series starts to get interest this is just me talking but I found ep 1-15 so boreding. Yeah ok so I watched them but lets face it, how would I know what there where like that if I didn't watch them.

All in all it was a good episode and glad to see Misora back. Personal I can see a MisoraXSubaru coming I just can't see LunaXSubaru I really hope that Harpnote will appear more and be Rockman's Parhter. In later episodes and I liked how she started to sing the Theme song a little nod there as it's her VA that sings it in the opening to start with.

ComicX6, thank you for your explanation, and my thanks to DrkXFuZion as well about Misora's manager.

I watched the episode again and this time I did notice most of the moments were Subaru seemed to switch between Radio Waves and the real world. I think I understand it a bit better now. I am going to re-read the topics about the earlier chapters again, I like this series but everytime I watch I feel I am missing something about the background and certain events.

You mean like how we used to call Utagai "Mr. Decaf" just because didn't know his name?

Yeah, that's the ticket. XD
Either way, I loved the fact that he didn't notice Rockman and Gemini Spark B fighting during his phone call/self pity rants. The true highlight of the episode. Razz
