FMA is a true piece of art as far as Japanimation. |

I have to agree with you there. In the begining of axess things looked good but they started to mess up the animation and stuff. As a matter of fact things were animated alot better in the original exe. The animation was smooth but axess and stream just arent. Thats one of the things i dont like about axess and stream. Just look at how elecman+rockman vs magnetman turned out. One of the best animation used and the battle was amazing. Axess and Stream need that quality in animation. |

Animation does cost money... the more you can save, the better, and a freeze frame could be seen as some kind of dramatic element.
It is true though, Axess and Steam had more 'lazy' episodes than the first two seasons (not to mention the very crappy ones one of the animation teams must have thrown in to annoy just everybody :p).. what if the producing studio reached their budget limit? What if Capcom became greedy?
Anime, or animation in general is rarely done for any other purpose than to make even more money, money, money. It´s all about profit.
Despite how much we love it, this series wasn´t done just to please us, but to advertise other products *bricked*
... sloppy animation is very annoying though. Sad thing that they don´t see it like this: "We produce in higher quality, more people will like it then, thus more people will buy our products" ^o^ |

But let's not forget that whenever there's a really IMPORTANT battle scene, they go all out and make it look damn good :3 |

Yea and just a note i really dont like that 3d explosion anymore cause it IMO looks crapy. In most of the important fight scenes they make it look good. They started with good animation in axess and slowly it was getting weaker. Im 100% positive that the animation in the movie is great thats for sure but it gets boring when there use freeze frames over and over again. |

Any season of Pokemon before Advanced Generation they always kept the same footage of Ash turning his hat backwards and sending out his pokemon. (it really clashed near the last few seasons of GS)
It's true though, most animes will recycle footage. By using computers, it feels like all they did was hit copy and paste.
I'm not complaining, it's price effective. Go watch an old ep of Gigantor, chances are you'll see Gigantor move his arms up and down and then show some odd surge of electricity running through him. |

So in the end we shouldn't blame EXE or any of the cheaper anime for cutting corners, we should blame the really high-quality anime for making them look bad. Is that it? |

Although costs of production factor into this, I think that the other half the problem is that the creators think that RockMan is so popular they can get away with cutting corners. _________________

No no no, MANY animes used re-used footage. But footage like Ash throwing a poke-ball or Lan jacking in are things I don't mind, it's when they use a clip of Beastman getting hit and knocked to the floor...and then showing it again 2 seconds later, that pisses me off. Plus, there' still the repetetive camera pans and zooms and simple "getting hit" pan things. |

I wouldn't say it's exactly fair to compare RockMan.exe to FMA. I mean, FMA's target audience is obviously different from EXE's and they probably have a larger budget and whatnot. :O
Anyway, yeah, Axess and Stream still repeat footage like mad, but I ignore that. It DOES get annoying to see the same animation for attacks over and over again. Same thing for all those errors and footage that makes no sense. Personally, I don't care. I'm basically their pawn for enjoying what they give me just fine. :P
Besides, the anime is basically a commercial for the games with more talking. What do you expect it to do? >_>;;
Anyone else think it's possible that some of the horrible animation is from them pooling their efforts into the movie? I mean, I'm sure the movie isn't exactly making things anything easier for the anime cost-wise. D:
My low expectations. :O
Oh yeah, your title proves Mal's point from the old forum. :o _________________ get out |

Again, not as many as you think do that.
It's just that the ones that do that the most end up being some of the most popular for some reason, like Yugioh, DBZ and Pokemon.
If you look around a bit, you can find plenty of anime that don't/rarely resort to that type of animation trick or don't have much focus on action (Although it's not always the case, in my experience those generally have consistantly good animation with the possible exception of a couple of episodes). |

It's not the fact that they reuse animations so much that bothers me. It's the fact that they do so without making any attempt to adjust the quality of the animation nor do they do any sort of touch ups. They've been using the same Gutshammer animation from the very first episode with the same darkened effect and quality from that episode. There's also Roll's attack animation from episode 8 where Roll was in a firey atmosphere. They reused that in a very bright area where the darkened colors on Roll looks very strange. You'd think they'd at least change it in some way so it wouldn't be so blatantly obvious that it was meant for a a semi-apocalyptic event.
Oh. And most of the viewers of the anime in Japan are too young to notice anything, so they easily get away with it (similar to what Soala said). _________________ Net navis are like imaginary friends. The only difference is that you don't get weird looks for talking to them. |
