I think it's all done for corporate correctness, so to speak. Because CAPCOM has such a good image, it doesn't want to wreck it by creating controversy by bringing up names, events, or places and such that actually exist. That would kinda create hot topics that are pretty much the last thing CAPCOM needs.
So they alter the names of countries and stick them randomly so that you're reminded that this is a FICTITIOUS set of events, with a set of characters and settings to whom "Any resemblance is strictly coincidential!" What they then do is add familiar names like Amerope, which sounds like America and Europe, to make it borderline real without representing any real nation or person. Cartoons, after all, are the worst place for controversy...because then the mothers get involved and start calling to spank CAPCOM in the rear :D _________________ Better to keep your mouth shut and make people wonder if you are stupid, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. |

Heh... I guess I didn't think of that. It reminds me a little of the Shadow Hearts games - which I love - all of which contain countries and historical events that exist in this world, and yet have the seemingly preposterous disclaimer that 'all people and places in this game are a work of fiction...' _________________ I win because I love my enemies. Oh for crying out loud. There's nothing in the games that COULD create international controversy. A ton of games use real place names and you don't seethem being attacked just for that. The EXE world has locations named the way they are as jokes and puns, that's it, no more complicated than that. Stop reading too far into it. |

Which country's next?
Philippines? (for my fan fic, I personally call this as Cybertopia)
North Asian countries? (They have these names: Routerpol, Disktopia, Driverpolis and Algorithima)
I wonder if Philippines and Northern Asian countries might be featured in EXE 6... _________________ Rockman.EXE Level-Up! coming soon! Work in progress to be exact! |
