OMG WHAT DO youz think111!!!![/n00b not knowing that you have to say your opinion...]

I don't know why, but I seriously hate Sports games... becuase it's unrealistic, and you can make the characters that seriously suck into the best!

Strange thing is, RPGs are the same way too...

Unrealistic, and youc an even make Colette in ToS the Best character you ever had!!

They both have stats that you can improve...

So how is it, that two genres so alike can be so different?

I think RPGs are the 8 Wonder of the world, and I think that Sports games are (Insert bad name for group that likes a certain sport) crap

Isn't it weird?

One Word, MADDEN. Seriously, one of the most realistic Sports game ever in my opinion.

Now I see where you are going with you can make the crappiest players ever some of the best, but that's usually when you only play on Rookie. I mean Rookie can make any player good, try harder levels and see how they fare. Also players tend to get better based on their Potential and Playing time, which is pretty realistic to me.

I have to disagree with you also on the Sports games are pieces of Crap, EA Sports games at least. Over the past couple of years they have gone into more detail and added more depth to their games. A great example would be NHL 2004, my favorite hockey game. There is a dynasty feature in which you take part as a Team Owner. You handle expenses, Ticket prices, Stadium Upgrades, and many more as well as playing through an 82 game Season. I would like you to go more into detail why you think Sports games are pieces of crap, because in my opinion it sounds like you haven't played a recent Sports game, or you don't understand sports all that well. =P

I mean I've played them, but I just don't like them for some reason...

It may be my lack of sports fanaticism, or soething else...

Yeah, I think if you're not a big Sports fan chances are you probably won't like Sports games ( Realistic Like ones anyway ). For me Baseball is one of the most boring sports out there, and I can't play Baseball Video Games because I think they're boring like the Sport. Laughing

I, although, DO agree. I think of it like this, if you are pathetic enough to not want to play the sport for real, but on a 3D field inside the big electronic picture box in your living room, then you are really lazy. I don't know if anyone lives in the US, but here we are the leading nation(I use nation lightly) to have obeseity. Not to say that RPGs get you to exercise, but with it, you are at least challenging your creativity and intelligence. I find it redundant to have to run up and down a court of field in the same way, with little to no variation. RPGs have stories and mini-games and replay value. You ge more for your money with RPGs (Notice that you can pick up the new 2K5 MLB for 20 buck, and it's brand new. While Suikoden III, which has been out over a year is still 30 bucks. This should go to show the quality of the game) No flames please, it's just my opinion.

Sport games are fun. You get to do stuff that you never can do in real life anyways. Heck putting cheats are fun as well such as having all the players with big or small heads. Get to see them knock themselves out

Sports games with characters you can make the best? That reminds me of Baseball Stars. When you first make a team, they start out horribly weak, but after powering up a few times they become much better.

Then as for RPGs, this really depends whether you can improve the characters or not. If you're playing games (like Dragon Warrior, part 3 and later ones) and level ups give different stat bonuses, you can be picky with your stats and make characters stats worse or better than normal. Once I got Cristo's HP higher than the hero's, another time not.

Just to let you know, Most of the Professional athletes out there play Sports Games. XD I'm also a Person who plays the sports for Real, not just on a 3D field or whatever.

Well , if you don't understand the sport then I guess you don't see the strategy. Strategy in Sports would be Setting Defensive formations (Football), Powerplay and Penalty kill Setups and Offensive Style (Hockey) also Picking up free agents, making smart Draft Choices, and trying to construct a well balanced team while being under Salary cap can all be startegy. Also who's to say Sprots games don't have stories and Mini-Games ,Once again Madden comes to mind. In Dynasty mode there is a Newspaper feature that offers stories about your team each play week, and the Mini-Camp mode is just mini-games. Oh and about the 2K5 going for $20, I believe all 2K5 series games did that to compete with EA Series.

This topic has really sparked an interest with me, but I may be using Madden too much as an example. I mean not all games are full of stuff like Madden.XD

^ I totally agree with Serenade.EXE. So who cares if people like sports games? I like some sports games, such as NHL 2004, NBA Street, FIFA 2005, Madden 2005, among others. And yes, most pro athleates DO play sports games, and just because one plays a sports game, that does not mean that one is lazy enough not to go out and play the sports for real. I play a good amount of sports games and I also play tons of sports IRL. (I'm still wating for EA or Sega to make a European Handball or Lacrosse game). And if you dont think that the games are relaistic, you're dead wrong. Most of the EA games have Dynasty mode, which, IMO, is extreamly realistic. You set prices, make plays, buy new players and facilities, trade players, pick up new players from free agency and the yearly draft, all with a set amount of money that is earned from your team doing well, and that may sound easy. You have to schedule practices, meetings, and the like, and make the right decisions financially so the team's players dont end up hating each other. And there is a slaray cap, so you can't just go around winning and buying the best players because you win, it doesn't work like that...
