Im making this topic for everyone to talk about the greatest game(s) of all times.
I think the greatest game would be The legend of Zelda:Ocarina of time. Cause it has a great story line, music that fits the scene, the nice scenery, has a nice design for the characters, the weapons, and you could play this game over and over without getting board. So,what do you think is the greatest game(s) of all times?

I've liked all the zelda games that I have played before (oracle of ages and seasons, link to the past, and link's awakning). I use to play those a lot because I like the fact that you have to do somthing in order to see what happens next like most RPG games. For PS I like Metal gear solid the most because it had an awsome story to it and cool challenges.

Every Tales game in existance!! The Tales series is my all time favorite series! No game shall ever take its place in my heart : o! *Goes back and play Phantasia GBA on his DS*

Actually, not every Tales game... I didn't like the first Narikiri Dungeon and Tales of Fandom just looks... Bleh...

I'm also down on the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time being one of the all time greatest games. Infact it was 1997 Game of the Year on EGM, I think. Pokemon is higher on the list because of the growing advance elements intergrating into the game since Gold/Silver.

Infact, Ruby/Sapphire was more anticipated than a Grand Theft Auto game slated around that time.

The KOTOR series, Metal Gear Solid, Dance Dance Revolution... And pretty much every game that's revolutionary. No pun intended,. Get it? Dance Dance Revolution? Revolutionary? Oh, that's a knee slapper...

And.... unfortunately... Final fantasy... may it end in a fiery explosion.

I think Donkey Kong was one of the most revolutionary games of all time. It built the way for most platform series today. Although I think that Super Mario Bros 3 may be god's gift to man (I'm serious XD)

The Ocarina of Time was one of the best games I played for the 64 (Next to Mario 64 and Roadrash - This one because I'm a bit of a sucker for hitting someone with a blunt object going 200 down a highway...XD) Everything about it was completely great, and I love the way it was presented.

Viewtiful Joe was one of the best games I played in a LONG time. It stuck true to its 2-D roots, was beautifully presented (or should I say Viewtifully...heh heh), and Joe is just too much (Real men wear pink XD) It was an absolute treat to play this game because it was so much fun (It and the 2nd one as well.)

Well obviously from my response, I had to have liked it XD.

But yes, Viewtiful Joe was a great set of games (1 had so many difficulties and hidden features, 2 was just insanely hard, but had unlockables...just not hidden characters.)

November 23, 1998. 1998 game of the year then, hm?
November 25th for me. Coulda been 24th, but I LOST MY RECIEPT.
Anyway!

Ocarina of Time wins HANDS down, no matter what games may come in the future. It was and will always be greatest.
Second is Super Mario 3, I think. Yes. Because any good gamer knows how to get both flutes in world 1.
Third I would say Link to the Past. But that's mostly because I LOVE that game and it's music! (Sanctuary theme, fwa!)

(Mmmmaaa... you people remind me I need to beat Phantasia... I don't want to get Excalibuuuur... stupid mine....)

Yes. Definately Ocarina of Time. My first Zelda game, and still one of the best games I've ever played. Zelda was just...a crazy experience. I mean, it had good graphics (for it's time), good music, good suspense...it had everything a gamer can ask for.

And just as Ginrei said, I would say that Super Mario 3 is the second best game there is. I personally hate 2D Mario games, but I definately hold a high respect for Super Mario 3. The music is so darn catchy too!

...I personally found Metroid Prime 2 to be an awesome game too. I'd rate that third on my list :V

hmmm... all I can say is...

Adventure: ZELDA: OoT (Why not? it revolutionized most of the games we see today...)
RPG: FFVII (Story, Check. Music, Check. Girl with gigantic "bumps"... check)
RAcing: Initial D: Arcade Stage (Low-key, but awesome..)
Platform: Super Mario Bros. (So much depth in an 8-bit game...)
Puzzle: Tetris (Wow... I'm getting father and farther back in time...)

Golden Sun 1/2. Uber graphics (for a GBA :P), mind-numbing puzzles, and a real storyline. :P

FFIV despite all the bad graphics and loud noises. It has an interesting plot and funny lines. And Dark wave is freaking fun. Music's good too.

Golden Sun, definately. Funny and good to play. It has a great battle system too.

Chrono Trigger. NO RANDOM BATTLES YAAAAY ;o;

Edit: Oh, and Disgaea. Though I haven't played it, my friend let me watch him play. The graphics are good for a sprite game on the PS2, the lines are hilarious, and PRINNIES! \o/

Chrono Trigger, without a doubt. There's never been anything like the "Dream Team" before or since. :)

Ah... Chrono Trigger.... probably the game that got me into RPGs.

But, all of you are forgetting about these games:

Adventure: Zelda: Link to the Past
Racing: Mario Kart 64
Shooter: Doom (original)
Fighters: Street Fighter II (YEAH!!D! YYOU ALL FORGOT ABOUT THE GOD OF FIGHTERS!!!SHAME ON YOU!!)
RPG: Chrono Trigger (When you get DBZ creator to help out in your game, it's BOUND to be good.)
Simulation: Cross between Animal Crossing and Sims

Best game sound effect: SFII's Hadouken!! It became a freaking household word!

Well...they didn't really "get the DBZ creator" to help out per se. Akira Toriyama has been doing video game character design for quite a long time; you likely already know he worked on Dragon Quest, and when Chrono Trigger was being planned, they called the masterminds "the Dream Team" for a reason - Mitsuda and Uematsu's (yes, THAT Uematsu) composing, Hori's scenarios designs (also worked on Dragon Quest), Toriyama's characters and art with Sakaguchi Hironobu (of Final Fantasy) producing. There were some pretty high expectations for CT with those guys behind the wheel. XP
