linking games

Are any of the older versions link cable compatible with the newer versions? Its a question that my brother brought up and I didn't know the answer to that. I'm guessing the answer is no but I just want to confirm that.

I think only BN1 and BN2 to trade chips, i don't think you can battle, cuz the formats are different, for an example, there aren't soul unisons in BN3 and style changes in BN4, if you tried to battle it wouldn't work.

each of the game's programing are different. (different chips, styles, soul, ect)

I believe that all versions are only able to link with others of the same kind, i.e., EXE1-EXE1, and so forth. There are the special links, where MMBN4 can link to Zero 3 to obtain the Z-Saber chip, but beyond that, incompatibility rules.

That's a no.

The only two different-version linkups you can do are BN1 with BN2 for the Retro chip trader, and MMZ3 and BN4/4.5 for the Z-Saber.

Other than that, you're just gonna get a communications error.

That's why I tried to link ToBEXE5 to BMEXE4 and it didn't work. That proves it!

I found out, but its off topic, that you can link up Boktai 2 with EXE5, now I really want those games O_o but I have a DS -_-; (hey want are friends with GBAs for anyway?)

Hikari Angel is right... theres a whole bit with shademan and django.
Aside from that, the rockman.exe games only can link with the same number (unless you like blank or "Games are incompatible" type screens... Laughing

)
And there's always the Z-sabre with mmbn 4 and Zero 3

I don't htink you can link 4.5 with Zero3, but you can link 4 with 4.5 to play Operation Battle. You can only use Rockman and the soul unision navi in 4 on 4.5 side and both side have to have a BCG.

Do you mean using an older gameboy cable with GBA games? thats a no. and the only 2 differtent games i know that can link are bn1 and 2...
