Okay, this might seem rather stupid and newbish...
But what exactly do the BN2 Ball chips (ElecBall etc.) do? I've heard it said that they're quite powerful, but I never saw anything that attests to its power... :puku: _________________ The name is Warp "Ligia" Obscura. *Cocks gun to shoot mispellers* |

Each elemental "ball" will start off at 10, and drift to an opponent. Every point of damage that is dealt to the ball will increase the number by that amount. When the ball finally smashes into something, it will detonate in a Spreader range with the elemental attack, dealing damage equal to the number on the ball at that time.
At least I think...I hope someone can clarify. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! But they'll have to avoid the Whammy, as they play the most exciting game of their lives! From Television City in Hollywood! It's time to 'Press Your Luck!'--Rod Roddy

The (element)-Ball chips work like this. They are created a space ahead of you and drift down the row it is created. A number is on this ball (10) to start with. With each attack thrown at it, the damage is absorbed and added to the number. When it encounters a target or an obstacle, it will detonate, in what range I am not exactly sure yet. But it is an awesome weapon.

An AquaBall in front of one of NapalmMan's machine guns is a great way to put a crimp in his crumpets. |

Te range is the entire side of the field it is currently occupying. It can blow up in your own area if you're not careful. There are a couple things which can ruin a Balloon attack (Yes, they're actually balloons, the english version shortened it to ball to save space). For starters, notices how any damage inflicted on a balloon will only make it stronger? Well there are two exceptions. If it's an attack of the stronger element or a breaking attack, then the balloon pops harmlessly. Also the balloon has to hit something solid like an enemy or an object in order to explode, so if you're not careful it'll float off the other end of the screen wasted.
Otherwise, you can boost its attack up to 999 damage, which means almost instant death against a navi of the weaker element. As mentioned, Napalmman in particular. His fast and furious attacks simply work against him in this case. NapalmmanV3 has 2000 HP, he can get 1998 from a maxed out AquaBalloon, you just have to finish him off with your buster then. One chip S-Rank. |

interesting... where do you find each element ball? I've found Octons before, (well, one) which is water element, if I recall, but what about the others? |

I know they live in WWW Area 3. I know for sure that I have seen the virus that drops the LavaBall chip. For the others, I have no clue, since I haven't encountered them naturally. Perhaps they too are in WWW Area. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! But they'll have to avoid the Whammy, as they play the most exciting game of their lives! Nope. Elec Ball guy I think is in the statue in the Netopia castle. Aqua ball guy is in the big monitor upstairs in the Marine Center place, and Heatball guy is in Undernet Seven.
they might all be in the WWW area though... but I've never seen 'em there _________________ I think it's time to say goodbye. |

No, but those block certain things. There are other viruses there, as well as the navis: Pharoahman, Napalmman, and Planetman. And of course Forte. _________________ I think it's time to say goodbye. |

Both S-ranking the whole army of viruses that include those elemental octopuses found in specific areas and grabbing the Elec, Aqua or HeatBall is a big haul for me. Took me a whole 30 minutes just to get an Aquaball inside the monitor around the top floor of the Officials Center.
Anyway, which of the 3 elemental balls do you think is better? I prefer Heatball, simply because there's an R code that matches the 3 elemental blades that makes up Dream Sword 3. |

Well, like any elemental chip it really depends who you're fighting. |

In terms of damage, it's gotta be ElecBall. While HeatBall and AquaBall can both do up to 3996 damage as well, Elec Ball has the following advantages over the others.
AquaBall, in order to do double damage on Lava panels, the navi has to be able to STAND on lava panels - therefore must be a fire type. Plus, the water gets rid of the Lava Panels. So it's four times the damage or nothing - and no there are no FloatShoes in BN 2.
And HeatBall, while it can do double damage on Grass Panels, like AquaBall, it gets rid of the Grass Panel's on contact. Therefore you can't really use more than one without resetting the panels if you want double damage - not that you'd really need it more than once, but ehh...
Now Elecball on the other hand... set up an Ice Stage and just keep usin 'em. Use it as much's ya want - well up to five times anyway. I also believe it comes in the same code as an Ice Stage chip which is wicked convenient. And the navi doesn't have to be a certain type to stand on Aqua Panels, so you can get double damage as much as you want, and quadruple damage, should you face an Aqua opponent.
Of course, you're always better off to match it with the element of your opponent. So should you face a Fire opponent, you'd be smarter to use AquaBall, and should you face a Wood opponent, HeatBall. But if you face an Electric opponent, you're screw'd. There is no WoodBall. Why? because Elec Navis PWN jOO.
EDIT: teh fix'd _________________ I think it's time to say goodbye.

Eeek. You're right. My mistake. My frazzled brain mistook WWW Area 3 for Under7.
Anyway, I think it is up to the opponent on which is the best. All of the chips are equally as good against a normal-typed opponent, and the elment helps to exemplify one type of them as better for a given battle. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! ElecBall against a Fire-based opponent, huh? LoL! Don't worry. I know what you were trying to say. Aquaball against Fire-based types you mean, yes?
I never knew Aqua-based attacks can deal double damage against opponents standing on a Lava panel. Usually from what I see, the navi or virus that stand on a Lava Panel, except Fire-based ones, receives damage. 50 points I believe. Grass and Ice Panels I figured out, since a grass or ice panel doesn't disappear when something stands on it.
Is the fact that Aqua-based attacks deal double, or I should say quadruple, damage to a navi or program standing on a Lava Panel? |

Ugh... did I say ElecBall? -feels stupid- I'll fix that.
Well, Fire attacks do double on Grass Panels, and Elec Attacks do double on Ice Panels. I'm not sure about Magnet Panels though because there's NO MAGNET STAGE chip - again because Elec PWNS JOO. I'm pretty sure Wood Attacks do double on Magnet Panels too, so who's to say Aqua Attacks won't do double on Lava panels - or quadruple as they'd have to be.
Lava panels don't hurt navis in HeatStyle. Otherwise it does fifty damage and then disappears. This is why with Aqua ball, it's either regular damage or quadruple damage, no exceptions. Makes sense? _________________ I think it's time to say goodbye. |

Yep.
Grass and Ice panels are pretty common to me, so I know something standing on it will be drowned by Fire or Thunder attacks.
Now magnet panels I also don't know either. I gotta experiment these when playing EXE2. Oh well. the magnet panels will return in EXE5, and here's a question.
Will the Aqua panels replace the Ice panels or will both of these panels appear in EXE5? |

They both appear. Although I would have phased out the ice. |

Okay careful now. LavaPanels do not increase the damage of any attack. Neither do MagnetPanels. Only Ice, Grass, Aluminum, and Ocean Panels can double attack power, and Ice can't even do that in EXE5. |
