As a fellow user of RPGMakers, the advice that I give you is this: Don't bother using RMXP if you don't understand RGSS scripting language. RMXP is the most flexible rpgmaker because of RGSS. If you don't understand RGSS it's worse than RPGMaker 2003. I suggest using 2003 instead. |

Here's a tutorial.
Scripts.
More tuts and scripts.
Help file translation.
Comment translations.
I don't really understand the RGSS myself, but these things really help. Just be patient, experiment, and copy any code you're altering into a text file so you can undo any mistakes. Commenting out lines rather than deleting is a good idea too.
Now about the buildings, if I'm understanding your problem right, XP gives you three layers for your maps. A bottom, middle, and top. The middle overlaps the bottom, and the top overlaps the bottom and middle.
Here's an example: Let's say need to put a couple trees on the ground, with one right in front of the other. The ground goes on the bottom layer. Now for a tree. If it's on the bottom, it'll cut away the ground it's touching, so put it on the middle. The ground will remain intact. Now for the second tree, the one that will be in front of the other. Put the stump below the first like normal but put the part that'll covering the tree on the top layer.
Same thing with buildings. Just put them on the middle and top layers as needed. _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

Using RPGXP can prove to be difficult if you don't have any experience with the previous ones. I started out with 2000, and updated every time a new one was translated. So don't bother using XP if you have a lack of experience... -_-; _________________
