Does anyone else have one? I loved the disk games, they were so...disky, and Doki Doki Panic rocked. _________________ Don't ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody. |

The Famicom is the japanese version of what we knew as the NES.
Moving this to AMG, since this is about a game console. _________________

Oh hell yeah I do. It survived a two story drop from my window. (V!!)
Anyway, I have both the disk drive and the original (the original is what fell out my window.)
I have Kunio-kun, the Mario series, Rockman, and some others as well. |

I only recently was told the difference between the Famicom and the NES. I didn't know that it used actual disks and had a boot screen like the Playstation. O_o I learned this when I bought a music soundtrack of the history of Zelda called "Zelda the Music." Heh. It has that boot up Famicom music as the first track. I heard it and said "I don't recall this in any Zelda game..." Then it played the Famicom versions of some of the Zelda themes and they were different so a friend of mine told me the reason behind that. But he also told me that you had to commonly flip disks over with really complex games. Imagine playing Final Fantasy on the Famicom. :! _________________ Power wielded by incompetance leads to nothing but self destruction. |

Apparently the disk-based nature of the Famicom is why they had to put the doors in the Rockman games. Which has stuck since. |

Hah! Really? I've seen Famicoms and disks, but never knew they had load times and such... odd!
Trigger, what songs in Zelda were different? The original Zelda has all of 4 songs (Intro, Overworld, Dungeon, and Death/Ending), were there more or less or something?? |

Hmm... The opening to the original Zelda and Zelda II are different. Though the disk includes the "Overseas" version of the Zelda II opening and battle music too. You know, the music in Zelda II when you are attacked on the overworld map? Its different too. This disk also includes the sounds from when you find a treasure or die in those games and the death sound is WAY different. It sounds all musical when you die in Zelda I in the US version, but in the Famicom version it sounds like a muffled Dig Dug death or something. Heh. The death sound for Zelda II for Famicom sounds extra irritating compared to the US version. But I believe those are the only differences. I wish they had included the overseas version of the Zelda I theme. Oh well. _________________ Power wielded by incompetance leads to nothing but self destruction. |
