Anyone a fan of this particular Anime? I loved this anime since I was around 5 and still love this anime. I watched around 150 episodes of the anime, all 8 movies, 15-20-ish volumes of the manga, and eager to watch the 9th movie. My parents sometimes said to me that it's getting...well, childish, but I don't think so, especially when it usually have blood and murders. :p.

My favorite character is Conan Edogawa (Kudo Shinichi). Being a hate-guy-if-he-shows-off person, I can't resist this young guy showing off. It just seems so....cool.

Well, what do you think?

P.S. it's Dubbed name is "Case Closed", as shown on Adult Swim.

I used to be into it a lot, mostly because I LOVE mystery shows and books. My love for it kind of died with my need for money. Detective Conan is way long to buy the series, so I dropped it. I've read everything they have online, though. It's a great series, it's just been drawn out for way too long >.>;.

I've seen the dub episodes that have aired on Adult Swim, as well as the first 5 episodes subbed. I prefer the dub, only for the translated beginning and ending songs, plus the subtitles are quite bad, IMO.

I also have Vol. 1 of the manga. Good series here, but it's just a tad bit too long.

I've only seen a little bit of this anime. I also read on Anime News Network that Adult Swim recently said that they won't be getting more new episodes of Detective Conan. The reason is because of the lack of viewing of this show. Instead, they're gonna rerun the first 50 episodes that they've already aired.

Recently said? They said it last year =\. The ratings for it were terrible.

I see that Conan isn't going to go far in america. Though I find it funny how Rachel (I forget her oringal japenese name) hasn't found out the truth about Conan even after 400 episodes (I saw a bit of episode 400) Though it does seem like she has a very strong hunch of who he really is.

That, and the fact that Adult Swim's programming director hates the show.

It's Ran. During this halloween masquerade thing, I think she finds out, maybe not, though...

My cousin said this was a 15 year old anime, Adult Swim is too lazy to show all of it, which makes me wonder, why even bring it to Adult Swim.

It's not that old. They're still making episodes with no sign of stoppage.

The ratings were terrible, and the AS programming director hates the show. That's why they're not showing all of it.

No duh the ratings are terrible, the show was meant for Kids that are 6-13 years old, and why the hell would they be awake at 1:00 AM daily when they got school? The ratings are for sure terrible is because they don't know how to show the anime in the right time. Otherwise, this anime is great.

Detective Conan started in 1996, making it 9 years old. And I believe they just passed the 400th episode mark; maybe the Masquerade you refer to is the school play episode...? (great ep, that) [spoil:83809ea13f]It's one of the episodes where Shinichi is able to return. [/spoil:83809ea13f] <3 <3 <3

Personally, I'm glad they're canning it. They had no intentions to show the entire thing (they bought, what, one season?) and it's just a tease for those of us who've been waiting ten years for official DVDs. What we got was a crap dub and a passable manga (in my opinion at least), and a bunch of morons flooding the fanfiction community complaining that they don't know who "Ran" is and we should rewrite our fanfics with "Jimmy" and "Rachel". Because "more people know the dub names".

Freakin IDIOTS. This fandom went totally to hell and it makes me cry. >.<

Funi totally screwed themselves when picking this up.

Bad names, bad dubbing, bad song translations. Bah, I'll be happy with my NON-sucky anime and manga thank you very much (I should catch up though, I haven't seen an ep since 396, oh well.)

I also hate these preppy fans who think they know things about Detec Conan when they don't know anything.
"Ran? Who is Ran?"
*Beats person with shovel*

Oh well, here's hoping Pioneer pulls a CCS and releases Detec Conan like it's supposed to be.

Ouch. I happen to like the dub better than the subs myself. The subbed episodes I've seen all have really crappy translations. Oh well, they can't please everyone.

As someone whose approaching 19 years of age, I feel a tad bit insulted.

The original show is for pre-teens and teens, I believe. It's not really an adult anime, though of course there are plenty of us older fans who like it.

Truthfully, I've only seen five minutes of the dub at my university anime society, which is perhaps not enough to judge it on. Thankfully, they haven't brought it to Canada. Most of those five minutes were theme song...I did get to experience the voice acting of "Rachel" and "Jimmy" which made me cringe. The rest of the crowd demanded a change to subtitles, so we restarted the DVD.

If it improved after that, I will never know, but the fanbase was more than enough to turn me against the dub. It seems to have been aimed at a much younger demographic over here, and it shows. :\

This is the second time the license has been dropped, you know? Arg.

I believe FUNi is still dubbing it. Although, the DVDs already made are now extra-cheap.

Best Buy here in America has them for $6.50 each, which tells me people are losing interest.

Nah, I am refering to volume 42, chapter 5-10. Though, I do remember the episodes you were talking about, they were good ones =). I mean, after those chapters, there's no way Ran could not have known. Of course, I haven't read after that, so I dunno is she does or doesn't >.<;.

I feel the same way about the dub as Izumi. The subs are so much better than the dub, plus I hate the American name for Heiji =\. They also renamed Gin and Vodka, which makes no sense at all...

So... am I the only dub fan here? I mean, the subtitles looked to me like REALLY BAD ENGRISH.

That's just my personal view, though.

Well, watching it RAW nowadays is kinda boring since after all it's a mystery anime... That it's really easy to say that. WTH is going on!?
