For those unfamiliar, Galaxy Angel is a series about five young women who live in space and serve in the military's "Angel Brigade".

The exact story differs depending on if you're watching the anime or reading the manga.

As for the Angels themselves, they are:
Milfeulle Sakuraba: Pink hair, a kindhearted, airheaded girl with extraordinary luck(can be good or bad).
Ranpha Franboise: Blonde, obsessed with keeping pretty and in shape, she's always lusting after every good looking man she comes across. A bit of a musclehead at times.
Mint Blancmanche: Blue hair, small white bunny ears. Polite and intelligent daughter of a rich family. Secretly obsessed with junk food and cosplaying. My personal favorite :puku:
Forte Stollen: Red headed and hedge-chested. Wears a monocle. Oldest of the Angels, and also the highest-ranked. She loves guns, alchohol, and guns.
Vanilla H: Green hair, emotionless. Silent and very religious, follows directions without question.

| I've goten the first two DVDs of Galxy Angel. Very very funny. My favrote charater has to be Forte ^^ |

You forgot about Chitose from the manga, Azureman.EXE. 
I haven't watched the anime in a while, but I've read all the mangas up until now. It's a very funny series. I got my episodes from animesuki.com before it was liscensed. My favorite characters are Ranpha and Vanilla.
To me, both the anime and manga are equally good. The anime is sometime random, showing episdes that aren't related to the story line. Season three of GA are unfinished episodes, which I find just plain odd, especially if it's a cliff hanger-ish episode.
The manga, however, stays on the story line. I believe that the anime is funnier, though. A few characters appear in the manga, but not in the anime, like Takuto Meyers, Lester, Luft, Almo, Coco, Shatoyan, and Prince Shiva. I kinda wished that they did appear.

I've only read volume 1 of the manga, so obviously, I wouldn't know if there was a sixth Angel. :puku:
I have volumes 1 and 2 of both the first and second series.
favorite eps so far:
Series 1:

- Mint becomes obsessed with obtaining a chicken costume while on assignment at a theme park
- Forte's fear of mice being revealed
- Bikini baseball
- Ranpha gets an exploding boyfriend[/spoil:d6d376a50a]
Series 2:
[spoil:d6d376a50a]- Milfeulle becomes a giant after eating some lost technology
- Ranpha and Milfeulle compete on a TV game show
- Mint gets stuck in a costume and becomes an overnight superstar
- The Angels get giant combining robots, but Ranpha has left the team to get married
