my friend came over the other day and told me he was gonna get BN5...but has no idea which one he should get....which one is the better of the two?... :/

shouldn't htis be in the EXE 5 help thread and you can ask opnions there, I am just assuming. Perhaps this could use some Mod intervention.

I like team blues alot but also colonel so its a hard call...
I say it depends on which kind of chips you like more

I'm not sure if this would really qualify to go in the help topic or not, since it's not asking for gaming help... but instead, purchasing help.

Anyway, which version you go with on BN5 is, honestly, all a matter of preference. The versions are pretty balanced, just like with BN4... so just go with which navis you'd rather have on your team. Me? I went with Team ProtoMan, since I like those characters more than Team Colonel's.

Or... you can wait for the DS version, which has both versions in one, plus lots of new features with the touch screen, a remixed soundtrack, and a number of other goodies.

If you(like me) play video games for the storyline, then go for ToC, which has an extended sequence during the ending.

Not to mention that a lot of things in ToC just plain make more sense than in ToB.

You mean Team ProtoMan at the end... you don't want to confuse anyone about who's in what game.

Team ProtoMan - ProtoMan, MagnetMan, GyroMan, NapalmMan, SearchMan, Meddy
Team Colonel - Colonel, KnightMan, ShadowMan, TomahawkMan, NumberMan, ToadMan

Pretty much go with whatever version has the more desirable Navis, since you not only get their Souls, but you also get to play AS them...

hm...I whent with Team Colonel. It's pretty good, but Blues/Protoman has a little more range. I prefer magnetman over knightman because Magnetman has his magnet missles (which have more range), Knightman has his royal wrecking ball wich is really strong but has absolutely no range.

Then I prefer Colonel over Blues/Protoman because he hase his Screen divide (which and hit an enemy no matter how far you are from it). Protoman has his wide sword...self explanetory(sp?). Protoman's wide sword may be stronger that Colonel's screen divide but I prefer range over strength.

Also, let's take a look at Liberation powers, which are a big part of the game as well.

Both Versions:

Rockman - Long Sword: Allows Rock to liberate an area 2 panels long.

ToB:

Blues - Wide Sword: Allows Blues to liberate an area 3-panels wide

Magnetman - Magnet Barrier: Magnetman skips his turn, but all allies are protected from out-of battle attacks from enemies for said turn.

Gyroman - Gyro Form/Bombing Liberation: Gyroman turns into a helicopter to fly over Dark Panels. While flying over them, he can bomb the Panels to liberate them without having to be in battle.

Napalmman - Napalm Bomb: Napalmman can liberate an area in the shape of a lower case "t", if Liberation is successful, any item panels except for Barrier Keys are destroyed.

Searchman - Search Scope: Searchman liberates three panels long. If successful, he scans for trap panels and disarms them.

Medi - Twin Liberate: A hard power to use effectively. Medi will battle viruses to set up her power. Another navi must liberate a panel in between the two that Medi sets up. If successful, it Liberates all panels inbetween and including the two that Medi designated.

Toc:

Colonel - Screen Divide: Pretty much the same as Wide Sword.

Knightman - Armor Defense: Knightman is protected from out of battle damage. Any teammates positioned behind Knightman are protected as well.

Shadowman - Stealth Run/Sneak Attack: Shadowman can run across Dark Panels. If there is a Boss/Virus Guardian nearby, Shadowman can hit them without battling them, but he can't delete them.

Tomahawkman - Tomahawk Swing: Tomahawkman liberates an area 3 panels wide by 2 panels long. If successful, all items except Barrier Keys are destroyed.

Numberman - Number Scan: Numberman searches an area 3 panels wide by 2 panels long, picking up items and removing traps. No Liberation.

Toadman - Life Song: Toadman can sing to any ally within a 2 panel range. His song enables the selected ally to liberate 6 panels long.

Actually, you don't have to be behind Knightman to protect you, just within two or three panels.

I want Team Colonel more, because I like the majority of navis on there. If Napalmman was on Team Colonel I wouldn't want Team Protoman at all.

I think you should get Team Protoman it's agreat version and it's also the one I have I most say it's the best BN of Megaman I have bougth! -_-;

I think the Protoman Team has great partners for example Meddi you can use her power in your chips when your in double soul Meddi soul and with Magnetman you can paralize your foe for a lil time when hit, also with Napalmman abilities you can hit your foe consecutively. And double soul search soul has come in big time when in a critic time you can shuffle your chips and get more help like that. This are my reasons to choose Team Protoman.

I would get the protoman series since I think the story line is more logical but if you want to see wily get the ToC one.

Both series are alright but with protoman soul, you could destory all the virus with one charged weapon. In ToC you can kill cloudman with dark lance easliy

well i went with team blues cuz napalman is awesome and i love blues...though i luv tomahawkman.....i just had to get team blues....my friend ended up with colonel and he'd like to thnk u all....

You'd be wrong there. What his liberation ability is is a tad more useful. When selected, Searchman will select all panels down a file or rank as long as there are no obstructions (i.e., a liberated panel, an enemy, an ally, etc.) If Searchman succeeds his liberation battle, all items in said rank or file will pop up. You will obtain evry item, and all traps will be disarmed.
