I'm looking for good multiplayer games for the NES. Got any suggestions?
Doesn't matter if they're 2, 3, or 4 players, just as long as it's simultaneous multiplayer, not alternating. _________________ War may not be the right answer, but when you're in one, ending it effectively and with positive results is a must. Vote John McCain for U.S. President.

Uh, the only multiplayer you'll get on the NES is 2 player. 3-4 player didin't exist when the NES was around. It's a pretty old system (about 20 years old).
And Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers is a good two player simultaneous game. |

Wasn't there an extra little box you could get for your NES for the very few 4-player games?
My vote for 2-player game is River City Ransom. BARF! _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

Gauntlet was a great game. Get that. Or...try to.
River City Ransom (Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari) was also a good game.
Heh, for a kick you could play Wheel of Fortune and laugh at the ugly Vanna White that turns the letters.
Oh and Contra. Get Contra. Nothing beats Contra. |

Indeed. I happened to love it too, especially when your so-called "ally" goes and pops your balloons for a lucrative 1000 points apiece.
I did not have many NES games--hell I don't have many now, but I did enjoy Contra as a two-player game. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! Mickey and Minnie's Mousecapade. I figured you could control Minnie when you plug in another controller.
Two that I wouldn't recommend are Ring King and Trojan (I hater those ) |

Here are some I came up with.
Base Wars
Contra
Crash 'n' the Boys' Street Challenge
Double Dragon II
Galaxy 5000
Micro Machines
Nightmare on Elm Street
Super C
Super Dodge Ball
Most people don't like NoES (Nightmare on Elm Street), but I did. It's cooler with more players, although it's decent in 1 player mode. And teamwork is a must; the more players you have, the tougher the bosses are.
And don't get me started on Battletoads' two player option; it's literally impossible on level 11, no matter how hard you try to win. Player 2's Clinger Winger remains stuck and you'll inevitably die, and when one player dies on any level, both are sent back. _________________ War may not be the right answer, but when you're in one, ending it effectively and with positive results is a must. Not sure, but I think Bomberman had 3-4 players possible even then.
If not, go with Bubble Bobble... BUBBLE BOBBLE! _________________ Net navis are like imaginary friends. The only difference is that you don't get weird looks for talking to them. |

There were actually two different 4 player adaptors; the Four Score and the Satellite. The Satellite had two sensors; one to plug in the system, and the other on the adaptor itself. This means you and your 2-3 buddies could sit anywhere in the room you liked to, but it used batteries. The Four Score was more restrained, and you couldn't go as far from the TV than with the Satellite, but it didn't use batteries, because it was attatched to the NES itself.
Other two good multiplayer games I remembered were:
-Blades of Steel
-Swords and Serpents
-Super Spike VBall
-Super Off-Road
-RC Pro AM II
-World Cup Soccer
Double Dragon III is enjoyable in 2 players as long as your buddy doesn't keep dying and wasting your characters. _________________ War may not be the right answer, but when you're in one, ending it effectively and with positive results is a must. Vote John McCain for U.S. President.
