The Future that Lies Ahead-CosmoSwallow implied ShadeBurner

Cosmoman yawned as he lifted himself off his pillow, with Swallowman already sitting up beside him.He never did like early mornings, but he coped with them so he would not agitate his lover. However, by the unreadable look on Swallowman's face, he immediately knew something was off. "Swallowman? What's wrong?"

Slowly, as if coming out of a trance, Swallowman shook his head. "...it's nothing much. Something's just bothering me..." he trailed off as he looked at the larger Darkloid. Cosmoman crawled closer to him, and put his arms around the bird navi.

"You can tell me." he said as he nibbled on Swallowman's neck. The bird navi moaned, but gently broke out of the hold to look at Cosmoman.

"I need to tell you something, Cosmoman..." Cosmoman's eyes widened; that phrase never bode well.

"You're not pregnant, are you?!" he nearly shrieked. Swallowman growled as he immediately thwapped his lover upside the head.

"Of course not! What gave you that idea?!" he sputtered angrily. Cosmoman rubbed his head.

"Because you're acting strange. What's up?" The bird navi sighed, settling down again.

"I want to tell you a story about two lovers." Swallowman said suddenly. Cosmoman resisted the urge to fall over.

"What?" he asked slowly, as if making sure. The bird navi nodded.

"Trust me, it's important." Swallowman said before beginning. "A while ago, there were two lovers. The two worked for the Darkloids, and were nearly inseperable. That is, until one day, one of them lost sight of what was important. Then everything ended up in a downward spiral, eventually resulting in their deletion."

During this time, Cosmoman came up from behind his lover and wrapped his arms around him. "I think I know who you are talking about." he muttered silently. "Shademan and Burnerman, right?"

Swallowman nodded sadly. "It's sad...In the beginning, the two couldn't stand to be in the same room together. Shademan couldn't stand Burnerman's overexuberent personality, and Burnerman detested Shademan's strict nature. It resulted in many fights."

Cosmoman chuckled. "Where did you hear this?"

Swallowman shrugged. "Around." he said indifferently. "Anyways, one day, they traded blows. After several hours of fighting, it came to a draw. The two respected each other's abilities, and they slowly fought less and less. Over time, that relationship began to change; from respect to deep friendship, and then love. Neither knew how they ended up loving each other, but they weren't about to complain.

"It seemed that they were perfect for one another. Burnerman brought Shademan solace, and Shademan was able to rein in Burnerman. Two opposites came together..." he trailed off, snuggling closer to his lover. Cosmoman sensed a change in his mood and brought him closer to his chest.

"Then, one day...Something big happened. Apparently, Shademan became distrustful of the human he was working with, our master. It got to the point where he was ready to split from him. He didn't trust the power of the Dark Chips. He discussed it over with his lover, who he thought would agree. He was wrong.

"There was a huge argument between the two of them. Shademan wanted to split, and Burnerman wanted to stay. The vampire navi then found out that his lover was using the power of the Dark Chips constantly, and got angry at him. He called him pathetic and left. The next day, he was deleted. Burnerman, in his despair over his ruined relationship with Shademan and his subsequent death, used even more Dark Chips to drown the pain. He was later deleted by Rockman.

"So, two lovers that pledged to love each other for eternity were torn asunder; all by one of them losing sight of their love." Swallowman finished somberly. "I don't want us to become like that...where we hide secrets from each other, and are eventually are torn apart."

Cosmoman nuzzled the back of Swallowman's neck. "We won't. I would share everything with you Swallowman...my deepest secrets, my deepest fears...I would bear my soul to you." he said quietly. Swallowman sadly smiled.

"Thank you, Cosmoman...you don't know how much it means to me..." The larger navi just turned his lover around and slowly claimed his lips.

After a few minutes of kissing, Cosmoman pulled away. "So, that was what you were agitated about earlier? A bad dream?"

Swallowman nodded. "Yes...I didn't believe what I saw in my dream...but many say that dreams like that are premonitions. I donn't want to go on knowing that something like what happened to Shademan and Burnerman happen to us. The thought of it scares me."

Cosmoman drew him into a hug. "Don't be frightened about what the future may hold for us, Swallowman. We'll take each day on as it comes, without worries. I love you, and you better not forget it."

Swallowman closed his eyes and smiled. "Yes...I love you too, Cosmoman. For now...let us be like this. If this is to be our last time together, or one of many, I will cherish it."
