Well, here's the thing: using it lowers your HP considerably. While you eventually reach the point that 0 HP makes Rockman become invincible but uncontrollable, that can only happen once in battle. On top of all that, you can't use Dark Chips in the final two battles, with your diminished HP still lowered.
So basically, while Dark Chips might make the general battles considerably easier, they totally screw you over as you approach the end of the game. |

Dark Soul is FAR too weak to see any practical use in the current environment. At the beginning of the game, DarkChips actually seemed to be good--where else could you get 500 damage when trying to bust Shademan or some of your tougher tournament opponents with a weak folder? As the game (games, rather) progressed, one could obtain better chips and stronger PAs, that were capable of doing more damage. And the benefit of being completely light was the fact that FS occurred randomly. Even a random x2 multiplier immediately made being light MUCH more worth it than being dark, as the powers of the DarkChips were fixed, and the FS multiplier simply promised a LOT MORE damage.
In short, if one decides to use DarkChips, it's crossing the Rubicon essentially--once it is used chronically, there's no turning back. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! The darkness is good and bad because of two things:
1. You get to use dark-related chips such as Muramasa, Anubis, and the DS Chips.
2. Your health keeps dropping by 1 every time you use a Dark Chip.
I mostly use Dark Chips for Chaos Unisons. |

I never used Darkchips, and I never will. As much as they're awesome to use and all, I thrive on getting every power-up so that I can stand a chance against the SP and DS versions of the Boss Navis, and espescially against the "King of Chaos" in EXE5. HP Memories are the best, since I don't use any HP+ Customizer Parts. And I would be royal pi$$ed of I couldn't control Rockman, the only reason I love the EXE games so much is that if you're good enough you can avoid almost any attacks. |

There just weren't many chips in EXE4 that benefitted Dark users to the point where it could stand up to the other dominant strategies of the game. At best, NoiseStorm (Static) could possibly do quite a bit, but usually light users FS'ed with one AirHoc and PitHockey'd their opponents in a ridiculously small amount of time. If such a player was against a slower light-aligned player, he stood a chance, but the FS multiplier simply made light alignment MUCH more appealing.
P.S. It's good to see another New Yorker on the boards. This city seems far too underrepresented here. ^_^ _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! I used darkchips on my 3rd playthrough on 4, but just frequently enough to keep Rock the darkest color. The HP loss wasn't too bad, only about 1 every 15 battles, but it was worth being able to use some of the dark-exclusive chips. |

Well.... I've never used them as a raw chip, but many soul unisions are taking place. And (luckily) Rock is still in balance after it. Just out of curiosity, can Chaos Unisons use dark related Program Advances?
And there's always been that nagging desire to see what happens if you use darkchips until you lose your last health point... _________________ Hypothesis: Barrel > You

You don't lose your last HP point, you just stay at one.
I only use Darkchips for Chaos unisons. I mean, I went completely dark in EXE 4. Then, I thought I was tough and went to fight Forte SP... and got my ass whipped in two turns, it was really pathetic. _________________

The only thing that the Chaos Unisons grants the player to do is the ability, if timed right, to use the power of the DarkChip used for the Chaos Unison without any drawback--no loss of 1 life, no loss of karma, etc. I would reason that since Chaos Unisons do not worry about a user's karma, it wouldn't grant any special ability to use Dark PA's that would otherwise be denied to you. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! Most of the Chaos Souls in BN5 Colonel are in my opinion rather useless.
Using a Dark Chip I would never do. Sure it's powerful, but like the dark side of the force, it will slowly kill you. _________________ Hold it! You're lying, and I can prove it!

Actually, I find the Dark Wide shot extremely useful. The same with Darklance and Dark Invis, but I guess it's all how you look at it. _________________

I got one question for the dark chip unions in 5, when you look into the guide you notice that the dark chips have effects besides the damage that effect you opponent like lossing HP when you open the custom window, do those still go through when you union and use the chip? |

No.Technically,Rock "harnesses" the power of the Dark Chip.Chaos unisons don't lower your HP at the custom screen etc. |

You don't suffer any glitches from Chaos Unisons. The only downside is that, if you screw up, then Rockman DS starts to attack you and you lose the Chaos Unison. |
