While at the convention's "Evening with FUNimation panel" I got a free DVD for asking the guys at the table a question. I chose to go with the Burst Angel Volume 1 DVD, and I just watched it. AWESOME. This is an absolutely phenominal show. The story starts with a wimpy little guy named Kyouhei, who's looking for a job as a chef in order to sharpen his culinary skills. He's right in the middle of a futuristic age for Japan, where recently a law has been passed that allows people to carry firearms, and this has hightened the rate of crime moreso than apprehension by the authorities. Kyouhei takes a job working for a group of four out of control main characters, all of which are females (sound familiar? Razz). But this is no futuristic Love Hina, because most of these girls are treating their new chef like total shit XD The main characters consist of Jo the badassic, gunslingin' Angel from Hell, Meg the rude and rather busty 'damsel in distress' (who's character look actually kind of reminds me of Megzheartcho U^_^), Amy the bratty little hacker genius, and Sei the kind and understanding syndicate leader (yes the boss of them actually DOES stuff. Wow). Kyouhei doesn't realize that his new employers are actually a bunch of crime-stoppers that tend go on various, and always dangerous, missions that he occasionally gets dragged along with. The animation is slick, the music perfectly suits the series' tone, there's tons of action, lots of pretty blood (:D), a GIANT MECH NAMED JANGO, and an awesome voice performance with some famous VAs such as Moneca Rial and Greg Aryes, along with some FUNimation favs like Alison Retzloff (voice of Conan from Cased Closed) and Jamie Marchie (Juri the announcer girl from Yu Yu Hakusho). This is a PERFECT candidate for a new addition to the Adult Swim lineup, but if you ever see one of the DVDs in a store, be sure to pick one up. They're not hard to miss, what with each cover being displayed with one of the main girl characters barely wearing anything half the time XP *fires pistol* WEE.
