I checked and aside from a post in another thread, there's no discussion on these games. So I thought I'd make a seperate thread on these new PSP titles.

So what does everyone else think? Personally I'm glad to hear news of a new Classic game. Though I'm dissapointed to hear that it's a remake of the original Rockman/Megaman 1. The Wily Wars, The Complete Works, Anniversary Collection, and now this. On top of that, the game comes with the original as a playable feature. And though MMAC wasn't CoJ, it's a remake. As for the new X title, this might just be the first remake of X1.

Overall I'm pleased, but why does Capcom keep making remakes of the first Rockman/Megaman game?

Well..I always thought that making remakes of the first ones and be able to put full potentil that they couldnt do before and make it even better than it was before.

I'm totally against it, but I just find it odd how Capcom continues to remake the old Rockman 1 over and over. I mean, I could understand if they remade the first game years later with more and better resources. But if you count MMAC, then they rapidly remake the first game over and over taking small steps each time. Well maybe this is that "big step" remake.

Well, that aside, I like the new "Construction mode" feature of Rockman Rockman. And I don't care if the graphics are over chibi-fied, they look awesome. I'm glad to see Capcom is putting their "storyline" on hold for a while to focus on gameplay. It seems to me, that the recent games were made to just continue the story rather than invoke fun gameplay. Something they haven't done in a long time.

They've only "remade" Rockman 1 once, which was for Complete Works and wasn't even a remake.

I'm thrilled about Rockman Rockman, but I still haven't seen anything on this X game dealy... I hope it is X1, since I love that game, and if they put the effort they seem to be putting into Rockman Rockman into that, it just can't not be good.

Either way, I loooooooooooooooooove the chibi graphics they're using. Very fitting for the series, I think. It just has to be phun. Now I have no choice about getting a PSP...

Few screenshots of Rockman Rockman and a chibi Rockman drawing there. I dunno if there's anything out about this Irregular Hunter X game though.

Thanks, you beat me to it.

Star Fox 64 is a remake.

Super Castlevania IV is a remake.

Metroid Zero Mission is a remake.

Even Super Street Fighter II Turbo is a remake.

An addition to a compilation does not a remake make, mate.

The background reminds me a lot of Gunbound 0.o then again, that's cause I'm wierd. Wonder if they'll remix the music?

From The Magic Box: International Videogame News

"- Capcom announced two new PSP titles in Japan, first is Irregular Hunter X, a remake of Rockman X for Super Famicom from 1993, the game will have rearranged stages, new play modes, new 3D backgrounds, and more mature character designs. The game is slated for release in Japan this winter.

- The second new title from Capcom is RockMan RockMan, a remake of the first Rockman title for Famicom in 1987. The remake will have 3D backgrounds and 2D gameplay, plus a stage edit mode, which allows you to create custom missions and trade with friends over WiFi."

They didn't have any screenshots of either of the games though.

That's pretty funny, the X games are getting more mature while the classic has chibi graphics.

Awesome news! :]
It's a shame that i'll probably never have a PSP...
However it's really good to see that Capcom's in this remaking old games thing (and starting with the original X, no less!).
I'm looking forward to see the first screenshots and videos about this one! ^_^

How is that funny? The original series was intented to be colorful and appealing to kids, while the X series was supposed to be a bit darker and aimed more at the people in their teens.

I probably won't be getting a PSP for a while if ever so I doubt I'll ever play them but they both sound interesting even if they are remakes. Hopefully they won't mess with the difficulty and make them easier than the origonals like Nintendo did with Metroid Zero Mission.

iirc, didn't they say they'd specifically try to make Rockman Rockman harder than the original?

Screens for Irregular Hunter X:

I'm pleased with how they both look personally. My only problem with it is that I have no PSP and this forces me to get one.

It's had its site up for a bit, too. It shows some comparisons between the original and remake, some 3D Maverick models, and an empty page.

Damn, sony really has them smitten with the ridiculous "3D only" stuff >.> Oh well...

Rockman Rockman seems pretty interesting, the artstyle seems like Komaki and Higurashi's take on Inafune's original rockman art(which was pretty chibi then too) 3D remake of X1? eh... bound to happen.
