It's finally revealed, and it...
...is a 3-D mouse thing.
I... don't quite know what to think yet. What do you guys think about it?? |

Wow. Just....wow. :O
At first glance, all I could think of was "WTF?!" But after reading the descriptions of the controller's performance, I can't help but be amazed. Am I the only one who thinks arcade FPS games like Area 51, House of the Dead and Time Crisis will find new life with the controller's lightgun function? And this officially puts to rest the arguement over how to best control first-person shooters; instead of trying to mimic a person's ability to move in one direction and look in another with two analog sticks or with a mouse and keyboard, just have one analog for moving and strafing and have a lightgun for aiming and shooting! All of the sudden, Nintendo has the best first-person shooters on the market, a genre that has a huge following in the US, and all because of their controller! That settles it; despite not knowing ANYTHING about Metroid Prime 3, it's now on my must-buy list simply because of how amazing it'll be to play.
And for anyone questioning the ability to play older Nintendo games, may I direct your attention to the fact that, when turned horizontaly, the controller looks a bit like an NES pad?
My only real concern is how none first-person title will play, as controlling something from a third-person perspective might be a bit difficult with motion control. But then, this is the prototype, and third-person games are Nintendo's forte, so that leaves them plenty of time to tinker around and make sure the controller doesn't leave its most popular genre out in the cold.
Reading some of the viewer responses amused me to no end. Those with positive responses seemed to recognize the amazing potential behind the controller. Those who thought it was terrible probably barely even read the article. There were even some who claimed that this is too unusual or "too little too late" to support the console. I'd like to see what they have to say next year when the next generation of ho-hum sequels come out and play exactly the same as their previous incarnations except for, oh yes, the Revolution games. Fools. _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

Oh I've been waiting such a long time for this and I was not expecting a remote. I was expecting something that would resemble a controller. But now they give me a remote. But do I care? Not at all. I am so going to buy this.Period. _________________

The controller doesn't look to comfortable to me, but I said that about the N64 controllers and the GC controllers, and was wrong on both counts. I hope the important addons like the analogue stick will come with it.
What a couple developers and publishers think about it.
How it can work with existing genres.
I wonder if I'll be able to cut a "Z" in the chest of a moblin in the Rev's Zelda game. _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

Sounds pretty interesting...
As long as they still use the NES setting for some of their other games (like Smash Bros, for example...) I've got no problems with it. Sounds like it could be really cool depending on how they do thing. |

When I first saw the pictures of the controller I was like, "It's a fricken remote control!" After the shock and surprise I read the news about it.
The thing I admired most about the controller is the sensor technology in it which basically acts like a mouse in whatever direction you point the controller on the screen. Once again Nintendo has pulled something amazing out of there hats and continue to revolutionize the way we play games. I'm looking forward to see more information of the Revolution in the future. _________________ Anything we assume at this point is an assumption. |

I guess quite many people would feel a bit irritated at first sight - well, it does look like a remote - but after reading the article, I'm really looking forward to this. It's bound to be fun, and pets and younger siblings won't pull your controller cable out of your console any more XD
The bit about flight simulation; hm, hopefully the 'too sudden movements not causing a reaction' thing will be smoothened out. Think about games with lots of shooting and all-range flying where sometimes you just have to pull impossible stunts *grins* Or it's just me being a bad pilote, who knows :p Depends on how sudden the moves are after all. |

People are afraid of change. I think this controller is going to work wonderfully, and after a while, even the skeptical will come to love it and the Revolution. All of the people who are crying and saying they're not buying a Revolution due to this controller... cowards. _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

Nintendo screwed up big time. How the hell are casual gamers (the crowd Nintendo wants to cater to in the next gneration, mind you) going to play casual games on this thing? _________________

Ehh, I don't like the design. It's a nice idea, but I personally prefer to hold controllers with two hands. It makes me feel like I have more control over a game. Well, I'll just have to see how everything works out. _________________

By intuition, that's how. Rather than having complex button combinations, it'll all be about movement. Simple, no? _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

Hopefully They gonna make an controller that you can connect with the ''remote control''(as how I name it:P). so it's easy'er to play smash bros or something.Or els they need to make super smash bros as like the first person shooters. You see the character in front of you like your seeing through his eyes. _________________

Oh. This looks like a terrible controller. Personally I can't hold something like that. I really hope they release a diffrent controller, more like the old ones _________________

Don't worry they will be making add-on like the analog part seen. So beyond that I don't know what to say. |

But that's an add-on.. anyways... I saw that video on ign.com and my first reaction when it finished was: I want a sword!
With the sword games you sort of control a sword right?[/spoil] _________________

Look deeper before you say things like that. It's shaped like a remote control. You probably use one of those every day. It should be pretty much second nature to you.
Looks awesome. I can't wait. |

when i first took a look at it, i thought, "okay, it comes with a DVD remote. where's the controller?" then i thought, "what?". but now it seems kind of cool. i mean, if you can multi-task, you can play multi-player with yourself. awesome. _________________ just call me xfyre. not xfyrethespooky. |

They -did- say it was still a work in progress. The design isn't neccessarily the final design.
But hell, I don't care if it looks like a TV remote. Honestly, it'd fit better with all of my other tv remotes and storage would be so much easier.
And to Nintendo, innovation and quality > power and look |

as much as i applaude nintendo for things like the DS and the backwards compatiblity of the Revolution, this controller just make me sad. I honestly don't know how this is going to be pulled off. Also isn't the revolution supposed to play snes and n64 games? Hows that gonna work? |
