Purpose-CosmoxSwallow One-Shot for Planty. Shounen-Ai

It was a new day.

Swallowman got up from his position on his bed and stretched his limbs, wings included. Yawning, he turned around to find a second figure in bed, mumbling something in his sleep. The bird like navi smiled, looking down at his companion. Although he would never even think of saying it aloud, Cosmoman was pretty cute when he was sleeping.

Sighing, he thought of all the events that had led up to the two finally getting to their current point in their relationship. It all just happened instantaneously, starting with him finding the heavily injured Cosmoman in the Undernet. He had taken it upon himself to help the hurt navi, and had slowly nursed him back to health. Unfortunately, Cosmoman wasn't the type to easily thank someone however, and had been scowling at Swallowman the entire time he was with him. One day, the Darkloid attempted to leave before he was fully healed; preseumably to seek out information about his master or take revenge on Rockman. However, Swallowman stopped him; albeit forcefully.

Now under Swallowman's constant watch, Cosmoman relucatnly allowed himself to be treated by the bird-like navi. Within a few weeks, the Darkloid was completely recovered thanks to Swallowman's care. However, one day, Swallowman decided it was time to leave for a new part of the net; it seemed that he was now cramped in the Undernet.

"I'm leaving this place." Swallowman announced suddenly one day. Cosmoman looked up at him in surprise. "I've been down here far too long. I think it's time for me to go explore the net again." he explained while he was preparing to leave. His wings ached for the chance to fly again. "Now that you're fully healed, I can trust that you can take care of yourself I suppose." Without waiting for the Darkloid to answer, Swallowman strode out the door.

Cosmoman blinked for a few seconds before he stood up and ran outside. "Wait a minute!" he yelled. The bird like navi turned back and regarded him with a curious eye. "Where are you going, exactly?" the Darkloid questioned. Swallowman shrugged.

"Anywhere I can go to. It shouldn't matter to you, should it?" he replied bluntly. Cosmoman was unfazed.

"Take me with you." Swallowman looked at him like he was crazy.

"Why? Don't you have your own thing to do?" he asked, bewildered that someone was actually considering going with him.

"Of course I do, bird!" Cosmoman snarled, "I'm going with you because it would help me in the long run. I can find out what has happened to master Regal!" Swallowman rolled his eyes.

"Fine. However, you have to keep up with me, because I'm not going to slow down for you, got it?" he growled, annoyed. Huffing, he turned around and started gliding towards the exit of the Undernet, with Cosmoman right behind him.

He didn't know what possessed him on that day to allow Cosmoman to come with him, but he was happy with the result.

The two traveled together for several weeks; Swallowman just wandering aimlessly while Cosmoman searched for information. Along the way, the two bickered about everything; most of them being minor sniping at each other. Eventually, the Darkloid found information on his master, and it wasn't what he wanted to hear. It seemed that his beloved master Regal had taken up a job at the SciLabs. That information crushed him.

For several days afterwards, Cosmoman was in a funk. He now believed that he had no purpose now that his master was working at SciLabs. Not even Swallowman, who was constantly provoking him, got a response out of the navi. Finally, Swallowman got tired of his behavior.

"What the hell is up with you?!" Swallowman raged at the forlorn Cosmoman, "One bit of information on your 'Master' and you're sitting around moping! Isn't this what you wanted?"

Cosmoman didn't respond. Growing angrier, the bird-like navi took the Darkloid's face into his hands, forcing two pairs of eyes to meet. "I would've thought you'd be stronger than this. You no longer have a master, and you now have freedom. But instead of embracing it, you're crying over your so-called 'master'!" he growled out. When there was still no response, Swallowman slapped Cosmoman so hard that the navi went tumbling to the floor. The darkloid looked up at the angry Swallowman with shocked eyes. "You're pathetic, you know that?" the bird-like navi spat out before gliding out of the room. The Darkloid could only stare at him as he left.

Swallowman did not return until the following morning. Apparently, he went flying around the net to cool off from snapping at Cosmoman. Sighing, he wondered if he should apologize to the Darkloid when he re-entered the area where he left the yellow navi. Instead of being in the fetal position on the floor as he was yesterday, Cosmoman was instead standing and looking off somewhere. Slowly, Swallowman made his way towards the large navi.

"Look..." he began while not looking at Cosmoman's eyes, "I'm sorry about what I said yesterday. I went over the top-"

"Stop right there." Cosmoman cut in. The large navi turned around and stared at the bird-like navi. "You were...right. I was being pathetic." he grumbled, as though it was destroying his pride. "Nebula is no more. Master Regal doesn't exist any longer. And yet, I'm still alive without a purpose." The former Darkloid sighed, looking down. "I...I just don't know what to do anymore. Master Regal was everything to me; without him, I feel...empty."

Swallowman looked at him in pity. Cosmoman was just a navi that adored his master completely. Quickly thinking, he got an idea. "Cosmoman...I have a proposal for you." he said softly. "Come with me. Together, we can wander freely and not care about the world. Maybe along the way, you'll find another reason to have a purpose?" Cosmoman looked up at him with wide eyes.

"Another...purpose?" Swallowman smiled and nodded. Closing his eyes, the yellow navi quickly came to a decision. "I'll go with you." he said quietly.

The bird-like navi smiled again. "We leave again later today. Get yourself ready." he said while turning to get ready for their departure when he heard two words he would never thought he would hear from the former Darkloid.

"Thank you..."

That was the start of their relationship.

Over the course of the following few weeks, their relationship seemed to deepen. At first, there was just understanding glances between them. However, as time went on, those glances turned into touching, into holding, and finally into kissing. Swallowman was thrown for a loop when it first happened; he hardly expected to start loving someone since he only wandered aimlessly.

And now, here he was sharing a bed with his boyfriend. He never expected things to progress this far, especially with Cosmoman. Swallowman was brought out of his thoughts when he heard some more grumbling and felt someone sit up. "Good morning." Swallowman greeted, slightly snickering at the disgruntled look he recieved from his companion.

"Morning." Cosmoman grumbled in reply, obviously not a morning person. Standing up off the bed, he gazed curiously at the bird. "And what have you been doing since I've been asleep?"

Swallowman just chuckled. "Oh, nothing important. Just thinking."

Cosmoman moved closer. "About what?" he inquired as he brought his arms around the navi.

Swallowman purred and snuggled closer to Cosmoman. "Nothing in particular. Just on how everything led to today."

"Ah." the large navi snickered, and leaned in for a small kiss on his companion's lips.

Breaking the kiss, Swallowman stared intently into Cosmoman's eyes. "I want you to be serious with me, Cosmoman. Have you ever found a new purpose?"

The larger navi stared seriously into Swallowman's. "Yes, I have. And its right here in front of me." he replied as he drew his companion closer. Swallowman just sighed in contentment.

That is, of couse, until Cosmoman groped his tail. Squawking, he leaped out of his arms and stared wide-eyed at Cosmoman.

Cosmoman only smirked. "I never said I didn't have a second purpose, did I?"

He recieved a pillow in his face as a reply.
