Stream #50 - Colonel Barrel - Spoilers

So, this is my second time through writing this summary. The power decided to flare out when I was halfway through. Harragh. This translation was done on my own once again. If anyone wants to clarify anything or point out mistakes, feel free.

In present time, Yuuichirou is breifing Netto and Enzan on their current situation. It would seem that Duo's comet, which is still 30 years in the past, has begun it's final countdown to detonation. The comet itself is a bomb set to destroy everything in its wake.

So, all of the Cross Fusion members must be gathered in order to save the world! Tesla seems to be hard to find still, but Charlie said he'd take care of it (hinthint, Netto). Enzan suggests going to Barrel's old home to look for clues on what to do about their deceased friend. Meanwhile, IPC is going to aid in filtering through the data gathered on the Crests of Duo directly in Ameroupe.

Netto asks his father if they can gain access to Duo's comet once they analyze the data, but the outcome is yet unsure. Yuuichirou's view on the situation is not good, as he states "Duo's final judgement for the Earth is extinction."

In the peaceful surroundings of a graveyard, Dr. Wily places flowers at Barrel's grave. It seems a past promise binds the two together, as Wily hasn't forgotten. Barrel is still waiting, even now as he rests in the ground.

Title Screen - Colonel Barrel!

For the Earth's future, all of the Crests of Duo much be gathered! Or rather, all of the Cross Fusion members. Meiru and Nenji are the first to leave, as they stand on a building rooftop with Meijin, Kifune, Manabe, Dekao and Chisao. Nenji is still a little disbelieving that it's up to them to save the world. Dekao is sobbing himself a river, engulfed in his grief of his uselessness. Chisao tries to comfort him, but gives up and saunters over to Meiru, where he presents her with a bag full of canned curry from Maha Ichiban.

Chisao cutely offers a good luck tiding to Netto too, just as the blades from the helicopter start to whirl. Meijin notes that it's time for them to leave. Dekao pleads with Meijin-san to tell him how he can aid Meiru-chan, but the scientist just retorts with a smile, "-san wa iranai!" Poor Dekao.

In Mariko-sensei's apartment, Misaki has arrived for a visit. He's suprised that Mariko was visited by her twin Yuriko only about 30 minutes ago. She left behind a letter for him, where she explains that she is moving forward in her life, almost as if have been reborn anew.

True to be told, Yuriko walks into the sun with a smile. A voice asks her if she has completed her business, and she replies that she has. Dark Miyabi stands up from the tree he was leaning on, "Then, let us go....to where Netto is."

In the Indian village, Dingo and Shanka stand before their beloved Totem-sama.

Shanka: "You're going?"
Dingo: "My partners are waiting for me."
Shanka: "I see...."
Dingo: "Don't worry, Shanka! I will fight....for the world's future....and in order to protect you, Shanka."

The two lifelong friends cling their tomahawks together, ringing a promise.

Meanwhile, Charlie is chiding at Tesla, who seems unconcerned with the latest events. "We have to hurry!", orders Charlie. "Where too?", Tesla asks calmly. "To Ameroupe!" explains Charlie, even more frustrated. Gauss zooms by with his vacuum cleaner, jabbering about the married couple. "What's with this marriage stuff?!", Charlie mutters, confused. Tesla just shrugs without an explanation.

Charlie begins to beg Tesla again, stating that the Earth is on the verge of destruction. Tesla just ignores him, and begins to give her father another order, until Charlie picks her up in his arms! Refusing to wait any longer, Charlie bounds out the door with a rather flushed Tesla. Gauss of course, happily waves the couple off.

Also on their way via helicopter, Laika and Princess Pride are travelling together. Pride seems to be the most depressed of all the members, as Laika relays the latest information to her.

In the battle ravaged city, Netto travels with Enzan towards the now deceased Barrel's old residence. A sudden explosion sets their car off course, and even knocks out their driver! Enzan quickly transmits Blues into the car's computer, who swerves the vehicle out of harm's way as they're bombarded by further explosions.

In front of them, Asteroids Bomberman, Swordman and Sparkman barr their way! (Where'd Sparkman come from?) Enzan has Blues drive rapidly around them, while Netto transmits Rockman to move a large transport truck behind them. The tactic works, and the explosion from the truck provides enough deversion for them to safely escape the scene. Rockman returns safely to his PET, "Tadaima!" ("I'm back!") Netto thanks his navi for his help.

Netto and Enzan finally arrive at Barrel's apartment, but Enzan quickly notices that something is amiss - the door has already been opened, and left ajar. A soft melody can also be heard from inside.

The two run inside, and Enzan demands to know who's there. Netto immediatly thinks it could be Barrel, but Enzan just points out that such a notion is impossible. "We are Net Saviors!", Enzan states. "What are you doing here?!"

The old man in the chair ushers them to be silent, he's enjoying the old music. "It was Colonel Barrel's favourite...", the man says. He laughs. "Though, that was twenty years ago...."

Enzan: "You are...?!"
Old Man: "I've been waiting, Hikari Netto...Ijuin Enzan..."
Netto: "Dr. Wily!"

Wily takes the boys back to twenty years ago, where Barrel was confronted by an intense bright light. At the same time, Duo is finishing his conversation with Cross Fusioned Enzan and Netto from Episode 2. The boys are also enveloped in a bright light, and many rays can be seen streaking across the night sky. One over Japan.... Ameroupe... Creamland... Sharo... Choina, and so on. The last ray flies through the past tunnel, striking Barrel's own hand.

Wily then takes them to another flashback, where Wily is apprehended by two large military men, and taken against his will to meet with yet another old man. Wily, donned in his old World 3 uniform, is rather angry until he realizes the man is Barrel - now well into his fifites. "Just as I thought....the threat of Duo's comet has begun.", Barrel states. He knows it's almost time.

Wily explains that younger Barrel has been using the Past Tunnel to send Colonel into the future, where he has been helping to battle against the Asteroids alongside Rockman and the others. Without giving much more information, Wily orders Netto to take Barrel's PET data back with him. Netto seems rather surprised as Wily throws Barrel's scarred PET into his hands.

"The fate of the Earth lies in that PET!", Wily explains. Enzan then asks Wily where Barrel is now, and the old man just tells them they must get their comrade back, no matter what it takes. Wily then takes his classic leave; by jumping out the window and straight into his awesome hovercraft cart full of cans as he yells "Don't forget the PET!" - and zooms off into the sunset! Netto yells out after him to no avail.

20 years in the past, a younger Wily is travelling with Barrel to Ameroupe via a helicopter (Wily's coat badge reads "Network Products: Dr. Wily"). "The future is waiting for me...", murmurs Barrel as he pilots the aircraft. Wily just retorts as they talk that he really has no idea who Barrel is... Barrel just smiles as he says, "Ore wa...fujimi no Barrel..." ("I am...the immortal Barrel...") (Most likely in reference that he will live again in a time where he has already died?)

The helicopter arrives at their destination, a gigantic tower that lies in the middle of an island, which oddly looks like a metal volcano on the outside. As they make their decent to the inside, Wily explains that they will use his "Wily Program" to activate the tower.

Back in the present, Netto and the other Cross Fusion members are in the same location - which is oddly where the giant crater and Past Tunnel facility lies. (Barrel's music theme is teh smex!) Barrel's video image pops up on their computer screen, requesting of Yuuichirou to aid him in creating a time wrap through the Past Tunnel. Inside the time warp, Barrel will send his very own body as a mass of data through the tunnel, and arrive in the future.

Yuuichirou of course is very worried - they've only sent net navis through the tunnel previously. He can make absolutely no garauntees that a human being can survive the journey. Barrel has already thought of this - and introduces a "spectral" type of prodeedure. Netto and his friends wonder what exactly a spectral is. Dingo makes a wild guess, but Jasmine just tells him what he named was a spice. n.n;

Rockman pipes up and notes that Dr. Wily and Netto's grandfather once worked on what is now the cyber network of the future. (I don't really understand the full explanation myself - if someone wants to clarify, feel free. I'm not even sure if "spectral" is the correct translation.)

Netto asks Barrel if he's really okay with this. Barrel comforts Netto by reminding him that they were both chosen by the Crests of Duo because of their courage. So in other words, he'll be just fine. Yuuichirou thinks this is all well and good, but in order to establish starting and ending points for the time warp, they're gonna need a beacon. "Beacon?" Netto asks curiously. Yuuichirou explains that they need an item that belongs both in the past and present worlds, to connect the two timelines.

Yuuichirou is at a loss as to what they can use, until Enzan suddenly remembers the PET given to them by Dr. Wily! Netto pulls out Barrel's old PET, and explains where it came from, confusing Yuuichirou that Wily would help them out this way. "For the Earth's fate..." says Netto. "I understand," states Yuuichirou, as he takes the PET from Netto's hands.

At last they're ready to begin, but trouble is beginning to brew in the streets. A dimensional area forms as Asteroid navis begin to attack the city once again! (Including Bowlman and Burnerman, where did they come from?!) The Net Police use the battle chip gate to fight back, using Meteor to clear out quite a few of them. A police officer informs the cheif of another attack elsewhere, causing him to swear.

Yet another dimensional area forms, with this time Starman, Bomberman, Swordman, Coldman, Airman, Drillman, Brightman and Sparkman on the rampage. Oddly enough Dimensional Converters begin to pop out of the ground, and Regal appears! The scientist creates his own dimensional area, shielding himself from the incoming attacks by the Asteroid navis.

Dr. Regal looks around him calmly, then smiles as a bright light erupts from his surroundings, swallowing everything around him. The police cheif arrives to the scene on foot and alone, just as the light fades. "They've dissappeared.....what was that light just now?" It would seem that Regal wants the others to succeed in their quest - but for what reason?

Back in the past, the tower is beginning to activate. Barrel is put into place as he's surrounded by holographic monitors on all sides, while his PET in the future is locked into the system. Both sides are ready to proceed! Barrel orders Wily to start the spectral program.

Barrel's body begins to glow with an array of colors as the transmission process begins. Barrel takes on an almost cybernetic look as his body begins the slow transformation into pieces of data. The operation goes forward as the transformation completes, and his data begins its journey towards the future. Yuuichirou and Meijin watch the process on their monitor. 20 years.... 15 years....

The doors to the lab open....revealing Charlie and Tesla! Everyone's rather perturbed by their lateness. Their entrance is signified by the sounding of alarms - only it's because an army of Asteroid navis is approaching! A dimensional area is formed over the facility, and everyone except Yuuichirou and Meijin head outside. They will all protect this tower!

Everyone dives into battle, as Wily watches the events unfold from the top of a cliff. Meanwhile, Barrel's data is at 10 years.... 5 years.... the present! The monitor closes in on Barrel's exact location, but his data is having trouble reaching the final destination point. His PET is overloading because of the extreme amount of power!

In the past, Barrel's body flunctuates from data to flesh, and back again, causing him extreme pain. In the present, the Cross Fusion members are battling their best. Yuuichirou and Meijin furiously try to lock onto Barrel's location once again, to guide him home. As soon as they pinpoint him, Yuuichirou orders the final stage to begin!

Barrel's PET digitizes, and Barrel's body in the past completely dissappears. A giant ray of light erupts from the tower, and in the present time, a ball of light lands on the ground outdoors. It's Barrel! The poor guy is breathing heavily, until he hears a familiar voice. "Colonel Barrel....." Dr. Wily emerges from the shadows, pushing his cart. "I've been waiting." Barrel is obviously surprised, "It's Doctor Wily!" The old man tosses a chip into the air, which lands into Barrel's hands. "Fight, Colonel! With Cross Fusion!"

Inside the tower, Yuuichirou and Meijin believe that they have failed, having not witnessed Barrel's return. A monitor suddenly flickers on, and a familiar voice calls out, "It was a success, Hakase!" Yuuichirou looks up in surprise, "Colonel!"

Out on the battlefield, Barrel finally arrives to join the others. "Netto-kun!", Barrel yells out to his friend. "Barrel-san!" chimes Cross Fusioned Netto, happy to see him. "Colonel Barrel!", Enzan ecchos. Barrel smiles, and holds out his PET. "Synchro Chip, Slot In! Cross Fusion!"

Netto watches in shock as Barrel speeds forward as a ray of light, slicing through the Asteroid navis. He finally emerges beside his comrades in full armor - as Cross Fusion Colonel! Barrel wastes no time in proceeding, using his "Screen Divide!" to clear out another slew of enemies. Netto just simply watches, uttering "Sugei..." ("Unbelievable....").

Somewhere in cyber space, Slur murmurs that all of the partners linked by the crests have now gathered. The final countdown for the Earth has now officially begun. Behind her, another navi breaks through the wall of data, full of rage and revenge.

Slur: "So it's you?"
Forte: "I've returned for you, Slur."
Slur: "Just for me?"
Forte: "I'm far different from before....from that time."

(I can't understand Forte's last line, something about the world. Anyone feel free to clarify.) In any case, Slur calls Forte a fool. The two power up, and the final showdown begins!

Meanwhile, Regal stands at a portal in the cyberworld, which connects the past tunnels. Claiming Duo's power now his, Regal erupts in his purple light and laughs with victory as he transmits to Duo's comet! Cross Fusion Colonel slashes at the screen, and each member of their team is proudly displayed behind him. The crests are now complete, Slur and Forte will have their final battle, and Regal's ultimate plan will unfold. Don't miss the finale, next week!

Barrel is obviously surprised, "It's Doctor Wily!" The old man tosses a chip into the air, which lands into Barrel's hands. "Fight, Colonel! With Cross Fusion!"

Inside the tower, Yuuichirou and Meijin believe that they have failed, having not witnessed Barrel's return. A monitor suddenly flickers on, and a familiar voice calls out, "It was a success, Hakase!" Yuuichirou looks up in surprise, "Colonel!"

Out on the battlefield, Barrel finally arrives to join the others. "Netto-kun!", Barrel yells out to his friend. "Barrel-san!" chimes Cross Fusioned Netto, happy to see him. "Colonel Barrel!", Enzan ecchos. Barrel smiles, and holds out his PET. "Synchro Chip, Slot In! Cross Fusion!"

Netto watches in shock as Barrel speeds forward as a ray of light, slicing through the Asteroid navis. He finally emerges beside his comrades in full armor - as Cross Fusion Colonel! Barrel wastes no time in proceeding, using his "Screen Divide!" to clear out another slew of enemies. Netto just simply watches, uttering "Sugei..." ("Unbelievable....").

Somewhere in cyber space, Slur murmurs that all of the partners linked by the crests have now gathered. The final countdown for the Earth has now officially begun. Behind her, another navi breaks through the wall of data, full of rage and revenge.

Slur: "So it's you?"
Forte: "I've returned for you, Slur."
Slur: "Just for me?"
Forte: "I'm far different from before....from that time."

(I can't understand Forte's last line, something about the world. Anyone feel free to clarify.) In any case, Slur calls Forte a fool. The two power up, and the final showdown begins!

Meanwhile, Regal stands at a portal in the cyberworld, which connects the past tunnels. Claiming Duo's power now his, Regal erupts in his purple light and laughs with victory as he transmits to Duo's comet! Cross Fusion Colonel slashes at the screen, and each member of their team is proudly displayed behind him. The crests are now complete, Slur and Forte will have their final battle, and Regal's ultimate plan will unfold. Don't miss the finale, next week!

The animation in this episode was gorgeous, and the music outstanding. Looks like it'll be an interesting end!

I take it that Baryl did not have a henshin. I wonder, maybe Bass is 'different' because he ran into Gospel and now he's Bass GS. Looks like a very good episode. I hope Duo does some fighting next week. The big guy needs some action.

Hooray for Forte being back! That makes me happy. And the Barrel and Colonel Cross Fusion even more, since they'll probably only use it once. I have GOT to see this episode.
