|
|
I bought the RockMan EXE movie DVD that came out in Japan last week, and thought I'd post a review for it.
Video 5/5: The transfer seemed to be beautifully vibrant and the colors were gorgeous. The animation is very nice and definitely had a movie budget as it looks a lot better than the TV series. The video is in an anamorphic widescreen, however, I cannot say how it looks on a Widscreen TV as I do not own one.
Audio 4/5: There are two audio tracks provided on this DVD, Dolby 2.0 and 5.1. Neither track seemed to have any distortions of any kind, however, I'm taking a point off the audio since the 5.1 track did not really seem to utilize the use of the rear speakers, which is a little disappointing to 5.1 freaks like myself.
Extras 3/5: I'm not really sure what to rate the extras as I have no idea if there were any specials made for the movie, or if there was even a premier event. However, there is a trailer featuring movies to both RockMan EXE and Duel Masters (ewwwwww). The trailer was a seller for EXE, but it was very short and there was only one of them. There is a two minute video showing scenes for RockMan EXE/MegaMan Battle Network 6, which were odd because MegaMan was SoulUnisoned most of the time. As always, there will be two versions (again), a Pheonix and a Lion (or something like a lion). It also said the game will be out this year (in Japan). There was also a quick promo for RockMan EXE Beast, saying it will premier Oct 1 and showed silhouettes of the two creatures from EXE/BN 6. Lastly, profiles on MegaMan, Bass, Colonel, BassSoul, and the red beast of the movie, along with a quick scene from the movie feature those characters.
Oh, and it came with a card of the fusion between MegaMan and Bass.
Movie 4.5/5: This movie was one of the best EXE adventures I ever had the pleasure of viewing. It was one fast paced ride that only went uphill and never let you off your seat. However, the movie features a very small cast of navis, and most of them are seen for maybe one scene (GyroMan, TomahawkMan). Not surprising, but I would have loved to have seen some of the other navis (especially the Neo WWW ones) with movie quality animation. The story was a good ride, and it is one that even a new viewer can get into without having seen the series before, but the best treat is for those who have watched the series throughout as it features the return of two villians, and shows a young Dr. Wily.
Overall, this movie is highly recommended for any MegaMan fan, and being under $30 (2800 Yen), there is no reason why people should complain about this Region 2 DVD being expensive. Sure, there is a lack of subtitles, but if you are diehard fan, it won't matter. Go out right now and buy it!! _________________ Once I was Dr Kain, but I died and have been reborn as Gankutsuou.

I just finished watching the movie about 10 minutes ago, and all I have to say is that it kicks ass.
Gankutsuou: You might want to watch some of Stream before watching the movie. O_o; Otherwise you will be very confuzzled. Or at least read some of the summaries up until Cross Fusion Laika comes in.
Also, the card is Forte Cross Rockman, not SoulBass. n.n;
I will be posting a full summary in due time. There's a hella lot of plot to go through, and it ties directly into Stream's storyline (FINALLY SOME ANSWERS). _________________ "Cats are interesting. Very promising indeed.. Can't wait to hear more. I wish they had the DM movie along with it, though.. *Curses*. _________________ If you like Wild ARMs, go to my DeviantArt to see a whole bunch of artwork on the series.

If it's got the FCR card, i'm buyin' this DVD! I'll just need an E-Reader+ device to hook it up my MMBN5 game. _________________ Animal Crossing Wild World

Is that so? I mean, yeah, the card itself has a different region "code" than the US cards...
With all due respect, have you tried linking the Japanese E-Reader+ with an American game that corresponds the card? _________________ Animal Crossing Wild World

D'oh. I should've read more carefully.

I believe they have. The Japanese E-Reader cards only work with the Japanese E-Readers and games. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

Hmm....
well, if i can, i'll try it out and see for myself.
I'll come back with news once I'm able to give it a test. I mean, if Pokemon Advance was able to link internationally...i figured the japanese E-reader could link with an american cart. _________________ Animal Crossing Wild World

THe only reason I stopped watching Stream (I have them all on CDR) is becasue my ep 31 is screwed up, so I need to get a fixed one before I can go on. However, I already know that SearchMan can cross fuse with Laika (wasn't that in the teens?).
Oh, and I had no idea that Bass and MegaMan (or Forte and RockMan, whichever you prefer) actually did cross fusion, that sounds cool. _________________ Once I was Dr Kain, but I died and have been reborn as Gankutsuou.

It's not Cross Fusion. n.n; It's a union of their Ultimate Programs. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

Yes, as soon as I sort out the details of the plot. Barrel is sexy.

I'm working on screencaps at the moment. There will most likely be around 500 of them in all. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto
