Well, here is my first topic in the are forums ever so. Here is a sig that I made when I was bored.

So um......that's just one of them.

It's a bit too simple. It looks like you just took a image, cropped it, and added text.

You should try to use a bit of effects in your sigs.I agree all it is is a cropped screencap with text out of.
If you're new to this kind of stuff I suggest trying NeoPaint for windows.
Just add some effect to it and you'd be suprised what playing aorund in those programs do for you

Eh, wouldn't really say 'crop + add text' is too simple, because that's what I do. XD

Anyway, try to spice it up. Add border (black, I dono; 1 pixel maybe?) around the picture and words, and it should look pretty nice already.

Yeah, borders can be your best friend, especially if you're just starting out, and they don't even have to be at the edge either. Sometimes they look better a few pixels in. Also, raiding a few free fonts sites can help wonders on their own. Lastly, another good program I'd look into is The Gimp, I've found it to be quite useful, and I've been using it for about 4 years now, give or take. Other than that, just practice, and you'll be making quality ones in no time ^^

It's a mere crop and text. No borders. The text color doesn't fit, the font isn't special. Please try to put some actual effort next time.

Edit: A border would be nice.

Unlike some of the members here. I do think it's pretty! I love the little quote.
I'm not a huge fan of Gregia Soul but I do like the way he look.
Now a border would make it look more detailed if that's what you want. But if you like the simple look I say, Go for it

I agree with Enzan_Blues_Fangirl, a border would be nice, but it's rather pretty on the whole!!
Take a look round other people's Sigs (Roll Soul's or XHunter17's threads would be a good idea) and if you ever start taking requests, just make sure you tell me!! ^_^

Yeah I could see you know being one of the best Sig makers out there. I make sigs and all I have is MS Paint. Now people don't call me "Keiti" much I mean my friends do but to some people I'm known as "Ace MS Paint"
Borders are a big help! I found that out when some one (MegaMan7) told me to try a border that made all the difference. Now I get so many requests that It's hard for me to keep up

You can put simple sigs in your signatures, that's all fine and dandy. HOWEVER, when you post it in the fanart forum, you have to make it seem as if you put effort into it. You can put no more than five into that.

I do agree with Malik there as well... Borders and Fun Text also makes it seem like you've worked pretty hard when you haven't worked for even 30 minutes!
My avatar I have took me the longest to make (I onlt have MS Paint) And it took 35 minutes MAX!
Rorix_Dragon's avatar (If he's still using it) Teh CasmoMan one took me... 10 minutes.

I think working on sigs and avatars and making them work better comes with practice as well!
