Chapter 1 – The Story

Alan Stevenson woke up in the middle of the night, staring at a mirror hanging at the opposite side of the wall. He jumped back in his bed until he realized it was just him. He sighed as he slowly got out of his bed and went to the door to find the light switch. Upon turning it on, his light came on somewhat blinding him. His fan turned on making a small hiss sound, filtering air into the room.

Alan walked over to his alarm clock. It was only 4:34 AM, two more hours before he had to get ready to go to school. He then grabbed an unopened bottle of water, standing on his desk. He twisted the cap off and took a small drink before applying the cap. Placing the bottle back on the desk, he turned around towards the light switch to turn it off when his cell phone, placed right next to the bottled water, beeped.

“Alan? You okay?” a voice came through the cell phone.

“Yeah, just had a weird dream, that’s all,” Alan responded as he flipped the switch off. The backlight of the cell phone remained on.

“Okay. There’s only two hours left. Sleep well,” the voice said again as the backlight flipped off.

“Yeah,” Alan replied as he got into his bed, “sleep well.”

~-~

Alan Stevenson is the youngest child of two. His sister, Alexis Stevenson, always hassled him from time to time about him and playing video games. Alan is 17 and a senior in Lac Nac High School. He’s about average height, 5’ 7”, wares a plaid over shirt, with a white long sleeve shirt underneath, and blue jeans. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Two days ago, Alan was going to the mall with his two best friends, Kayla Markson and Tyler Kasona. Kayla was Alan’s old friend. She was about 5’ 5”, wares a light blue t-shirt with blue jeans. She had long black hair and brown eyes. Tyler was the tallest of the group. He was 6’ 2”, wore a white t-shirt and green cargo pants. His blonde hair covered most of his eyes since it was really long. When you could see them, he had green eyes.
Kayla and Tyler never showed, as he wandered around the mall. He passed by a cell phone store. Alan never had a cell phone and wanted to get one. He looked at them for a while until someone came up to him. He asked him if he wanted a cell phone. Alan looked behind him as a Japanese man was standing there, suit and tie. Knowing he wasn’t a salesman from the cell phone store he responded yes, wondering where the man was getting at.

The man led Alan to an import store. He went into the back and came back with a box, inside was a cell phone. He told Alan he could have one for no cost. Alan didn’t know what was going on and didn’t want it, but he reassured him, since it was the last of four he gave away. One was green, one was blue, and one was red. This one, however, was black. Alan thanked the man as he walked out.

When he got home, he opened up the box. The cell phone was black, on the top of the screen had the word “PET” written in white. He applied a card that went in the back of the phone before the battery went into place. He flipped it around and held the “END” button, which also turned on the phone. Nothing happened. Alan examined the phone again. He looked around and noticed that the antenna on the phone was a small red bobble. He looked around else around the phone but didn’t see anything else. He pressed the “END” button again, still nothing.

Alan scratched his head. He looked at the phone once more until wondering if the battery was out of power. He plugged in his phone and then pressed the “END” button again. Again, nothing happened. Alan sighed as he put his phone down and then flopped on his bed.

The next morning he woke up and tried turning on his phone again. It didn’t turn on, however the battery indicator showed it was at full strength. He sighed as he started to get dressed and get his backpack ready. He unplugged his phone and put it in a case that came with the phone. Upon running out the door, Alan heard his phone beep. He checked it, but it was still off. He continued to run to the bus as his phone beeped again, this time he ignored it. However, this time a voice came out from the phone. “Installation, complete,” the voice said.

“Installation? What installation?” Alan thought. He took out his phone and looked at the screen. This time the phone was on. The background light up in a green color. There was a wallpaper of some random artwork with the word Access in the corner and strips of a circle rotating around it. Something was defiantly going on with his phone. He continued to look at it as suddenly some tiny strips appeared, turned into blocks, and then formed an image on his phone, without the white portion of the squares. The image then opened its eyes and peered back at him.

It was a figure of a robot like person. It was all black, with the exception of two fins coming out from his helmet, they were a gold color. He had red eyes and had purple strips that were below his eyes and ran down the sides of his face. Gold pointed shoulder pads were placed on his shoulder. There was an emblem on his chest that had a funky “F” letter on it. A purple strip came out from either side of the emblem running down the front of him to his knees.

“Do you always stare at people you’re meeting for the first time?” his phone said. Oddly enough, the image’s mouth moved with the words.

Alan took a step back. “You can see me?” he asked.

“Well of course,” the image replied.

Alan was speechless as he held the phone in his hand. He never had a phone talk back to him before. “Who are you?” Alan came to ask.

“My name is Forte.EXE. I’m a Net Navigator,” the image replied.

“Net Navigator?” Alan asked again.

The image slapped his forehead and said, “Let me guess, you never read the manual that came with the phone, correct?”

“Well, I thought it was a normal phone,” Alan replied as he started to run home. What he didn’t know is the bus was just around the corner when he decided to run home.

“Uh, whatever your name is. I guess you’re going to school right?” Forte asked.

“Why?” Alan wondered.

“Because your transportation is coming.”

Alan stopped and turned around to see the bus activating its caution lights. “What am I going to do?” he asked.

“Don’t worry. I’ll tell you everything on your way to school,” Forte replied.

~-~

Forte told Alan everything he needed to know about operating the phone. It was no ordinary phone, as Alan had found out with his interaction with Forte. Forte stayed in his phone, but could transfer to computers to check systems, delete viruses, and repair networks when needed. He left via a laser that heads out from the bobble on the antenna when ever Alan presses the “SEND” button. He could jack into either a computers USB port or just by the monitor; however it took him longer to get to the actual computer since all the monitor does is display and not the actual computer.

If Forte needed to delete viruses, Alan could punch up a special 3 digit number along with the “Activate” button to give Forte special attacks, anything from a Cannon, to Swords, even Recoveries.

There was also a special mode called Cross Fusion Alan could enter if he was inside a Dimensional Area, however Forte told Alan he would tell him more about it if it ever happened.

~-~

During the day, his second period class was a Desktop Publishing class. Alan decided to check Forte into a computer, so he silently got out his phone, lined up the bobble with a USB port, and pressed the “SEND” button. Forte disappeared from his phone as a small window opened up from the corner and Forte appeared there. The background around him was different. Forte gave a thumb up as the window disappeared and Alan went and continued his project until the window popped back up. Alan grabbed his phone, pressed “SEND” again and got Forte back into his phone.

Then something weird happened. Alan’s computer shut off. Alan pressed the power button, but it didn’t come on. Then the kid’s computer next to Alan turned off, then the one next to him, so on and so forth.

“Mr. Haso,” one of the kids called out, “my computer won’t turn back on.”

Mr. Haso, the Desktop Publishing teacher, got up from his chair to walk over to the kid. Mr. Haso was about 6’ 3” and could eat 4 Big Mac’s and still have room for desert. He was also one of those teachers that thought he knew everything about computers when he really didn’t.
Mr. Haso looked at the computer and pressed the power button. Nothing happened, as Alan already found out. Alan took out his cell phone, quietly, and looked at Forte.

“Could it be a network related issue?” Alan asked.

“Not likely. The network wouldn’t shut off a computer,” Forte answered.

“But you can connect to another computer via the network, and turn it off,” Alan corrected.

Then Mr. Atkson walked into the room. Mr. Atkson was the school’s IT expert. He was about 6’ 1”, and about the same weight as Alan, being the fact he was about twenty years older than Alan. “Mr. Haso, all the computers in the school have shut off,” he informed.

“Told ya,” Alan smugly replied to Forte.

Mr. Haso went over to his laptop seeing it was still active. “Not all the computers. I wonder why mine is still up?” he asked.

“May I check the network, Mr. Haso?” Mr. Atkson asked.

“They’ll screw it up,” Forte informed Alan.

Mr. Atkson sat down at the laptop and started checking the network until the laptop started to spark a little with electricity. He stepped away from the computer.

“What happened?” Mr. Haso asked.

“I don’t know,” Mr. Atkson replied.

“Told ya,” Forte replied with the same smugness Alan did to him.

“Yeah, yeah,” Alan replied as he got up from his seat. “Mr. Atkson, would you like me to try?”

“It’s dangerous,” Mr. Atkson replied.

“Not for a friend of mine,” Alan replied as he took out his cell phone and walked up to the computer. “Ready Forte?”

“Sure,” Forte replied. Mr. Atkson and Mr. Haso took a step back confused.

“All right. Plug In! Forte, Transmission!” Alan said as he pressed the “SEND” button and sent the laser at the laptop screen. Moments later, a full size window poped up as Forte appeared in it.

“I’m in, Alan,” Forte replied. Mr. Atkson and Mr. Haso were speechless.

“Okay, if I remember, there are special codes to give you Battle Chips, correct?” Alan asked. Forte nodded his head. Alan pulled out a folded piece of paper from his pocket. He unfolded it and looked it over. On it had a 3 digit battle chip code and the name of what the chip is.

~-~

Inside the computer, Forte looked around on the hard drive to see what the cause of the sparking was. He then saw one of the network protocol programs damaged. These programs were tiny objects. They were green, floated in the air, and had green and yellow rabbit like ears.

“Alan, I think I found the problem with the network,” Forte said.

“What is it?” Alan asked.

“One of the network protocol programs was damaged. That’s why the network has been severed.”

“How bad?”

“Bad enough to sever the connection. Give me a repair battle chip,”

“You got it. Repair, Code In! Activate!” Alan said as he punched up the code for Repair and pressed the corresponding button to finish codes. A repair box appeared in Forte’s hand as he fixed the program. After a finishing, the program snapped to life.

“Oh no! An illegal program has accessed the net. I can’t get a connection there to link HCPSHaso!” The program blurted.

“HCPSHaso?” Forte asked.

“It’s the computer name. Harmon County Public Schools and then the teacher’s last name,” Mr. Atkson replied, and then thought a moment. He still didn’t understand what was going on or why he was talking to a computer.

“Listen, can you link the computer to the network for a split second, for a data transfer?” Forte asked the program.

“I do not know. I can try,” the program responded.

“Alan, I’m going to get to the server to see who this illegal program is. If I can find it and delete it, the problems with the computers should end.”

“Go for it, Forte. You know best,” Alan encouraged.

“Set it up,” Forte told the program. It nodded as a warp gate appeared next to the program. Forte jumped in it and turned into a thin, black stream of light that shot up into the air. After a while, the light connected to another warp gate which reverted back into Forte.

“Streamline transfer, eh?” Alan asked.

“Easiest way to get from network to network,” Forte added. “Now, to find that program.”

“Well, it seems that I have a follower,” someone said. Forte turned around to see a crimson colored navi.

“Are you the one responsible for the network drop?” Forte asked.

“Network drop? Oh, you mean destroying the network? Well, I guess you could call that one of my specialties,” the navi replied.

“Who are you?” Forte demanded.

“Me? My name is Burnerman.EXE, and you should really think twice before getting on my bad side. Why don’t you just go back to your safe computer,” Burnerman replied.

“I don’t think so pal. I’m here to delete you!” Forte shouted.

“Delete me? You’re out of your league.”

“Let’s do it, Forte!” Alan encouraged.

“Hells Rolling!” two dark wheels formed around Forte’s shoulder. He spread out his arms and shot them at Burnerman. Burnerman, however, nimbly dodged.

“You go all out, don’t you? Fine, Burning Sword!” Burnerman held out his hands as they turned into flamethrowers and shot out flames at Forte.

“Area Steal, Code In! Activate!” Alan said. Forte disappeared.

“What? Where did you go?” Burnerman demanded.

“Right here. Dark Arm Blade!” Forte formed a dark purple sword. He grabbed the hilt of the sword and slashed at Burnerman, cutting off his right hand. Burnerman shouted in pain as he turned to Forte again, now standing tall holding his sword out to Burnerman. “Ready to submit?” Forte asked.

“You wish,” Burnerman then shouted out as a hole opened up and some kind of generator appeared.

Forte took a step back. “No,” he said in surprise, “it can’t be.”

“Oh, it is,” Burnerman replied.

“What is it?” Alan asked.

“No time, get everyone out of the school. I’ll try to hold off Burnerman before he can create another one,” Forte urged.

“Which is only one more to go,” Burnerman informed.

“Hurry Alan!” Forte yelled.

~-~

“Gotcha,” Alan replied as he ran out to the hallway and pulled the fire alarm.

“What do you’re doing?” Mr. Atkson yelled.

“If Forte wants everyone out of here, there’s got to be a good reason,” Alan informed.

“Alan, remember what I told you about Cross Fusion?” Forte asked.

“What about it?”

“When a navi activates four Dimensional Generators in the net, a field called a Dimensional Area forms and traps anyone inside. And the navi that created it can access the Dimensional Area. To make a long story short, if Burnerman makes one more, Burnerman can come into the school,” Forte informed, continuing to stop Burnerman.

“So if we keep everyone in school, we could all be put into danger. I think I understand,” Mr. Atkson replied.

“Good, and it seems to be working,” Alan informed looking out into the hallways to see the students and teachers leaving.

Mr. Atkson got on the phone and called the front office. He informed the Principal that it wasn’t a false alarm and even he should get out of the building.

“So what do we do, Forte?”

“Well, if the area forms, press 7*#7 followed by the activate button to start up the Cross Fusion process. Basically the phone splits up into data and covers you with it. You’ll look kind of like me and will be able to fight off Burnerman,” Forte informed.

“Did I ever tell you I’m not a great athlete?” Alan sighed.

“Don’t worry about it.”

“You should,” Burnerman replied. “I found the perfect spot,” Burnerman started to yell again as the generator appeared in the net.

Just then, Alan got a text message. It was Kayla asking what was going on since she was in the bathroom during the alarm and the building was empty. “Oh no,” Alan replied. Just then, a Dimensional Area formed around the school. The students and faculty outside were shocked to see it. The domed area was translucent, they were still able to see the school, but it was an orange tint.

Back inside, Alan looked around for Kayla. Just then, he heard footsteps behind him. He turned around to see Kayla running up the steps, followed by Burnerman, chasing her. “Kayla!” Alan shouted out.

“Alan!” Forte called out.

“Right,” Alan replied as he got out his cell phone. He typed in 7*#7 into his cell phone. “Synchro Code In!” Alan shouted as he pressed the activate button. Two half hexagons showed up on his phone screen and came together. Then the screen started to glow bright white and shined out of the screen. “CROSS FUSION!” They shouted as the phone broke apart into data. The data turned into outside clothing as it shaped itself into that of Forte. However, there were some additions to Forte’s form. A brown scarf formed around Alan’s neck and jotted out. The bright light surrounding Alan dimmed down as R Forte appeared.

“Wow, this is cool,” Alan said muffled because of a mask covering his cheeks, mouth, and nose.

“That’s Cross Fusion for you. Now then, look at your left hand real quick.” Forte responded. Alan looked at his Left Hand. Suddenly, a holographic number pad appeared out of his hand. He took a step backwards. “That’s the number pad so you can activate battle chips to use. You remember some of the codes, right?”

“Uh, yeah, kind of,” Alan said rubbing the back of his helmet.

“Well, that’s all I need to here. Just remember, if you need the Forte Buster, just activate it.”

“How would I do that?”

“Um, summon it? I don’t know. Just try it.”

“Okay, Forte Buster!” Alan said as his hand reconfigured into the Buster. “Whoa, cool. I thought it would hurt though.”

“I told you, in Cross Fusion the phone turns into data and gives you an outside covering. So the data is being reconfigured, but your hand is still fine.”

“Cool, let’s roll!” Alan said as he ran out of the door.

~-~

Alan ran down hallway after hallway, but still no trace of Burnerman. But at the same time, he didn’t feel tired. Alan wasn’t the best athletic kid. He used to play sports when he was a kid, but the only sport he still plays regularly today is bowling. Alan looked in room after room for any trace of Burnerman, but nothing. “Where are you Burnerman?” Alan asked.

“He’s got to be here somewhere. You just have to keep looking,” Forte responded.

“I am, I am.” Off in the distance, Alan heard a girl scream. “What was that?”

“Well, you want me to state the obvious?”

“Not really,” Alan ran off in the direction he heard the scream coming from. Of course, it had to be in the gymnasium. He got there and looked at the basketball court. There was Kayla running towards the hall, with Burnerman behind her. “Kayla!” Alan shouted as he jumped over the railing and down, about 15 feet to the ground below. He stepped in front of Kayla as she hid behind him.

“W-Who are you?” She asked frightened.

“Not important right now, go hide,” Alan said, changing the pitch of his voice. She nodded and hid behind a wall, but poked her head out to see what was going on. “Now then, time to deal with you,” Alan said as he pointed to Burnerman.

“Well, well. Look what we have here. Forte in the human world. Not a bad light show, if I say so myself,” Burnerman snubbed Forte.

“I let you escape once, and I’m not doing it again.”

“You won’t have to. Once I’ve dealt with you and the girl, then I’ll destroy the school. Afterwards, you won’t have to worry about me.”

“What do you want with her anyways?” Alan demanded.

“She has something special that we need,” Burnerman got into a battle stance. “Now if you don’t mind, get out of my way. I have no time to deal with you.”

“You do now!” Alan jumped over Burnerman and formed the Forte Buster. He fired a couple shots at Burnerman’s head, but it didn’t do too much damage. He landed on the other side of him and turned around. Burnerman as well turned around.

“Not bad, you’ve learned some techniques. But that’s not going to help you stop me! Burning Sword!” Burnerman activated his two jets on his arms and sent the flaming sword flying at Alan.

“Aqua Sword, Code in!” Alan said frantically punching up an Aqua Sword. After pressing the Send button, his hand reformed into it. “Whoa, wasn’t expecting that.”

“Quickly, use the Aqua Boom!” Forte yelled to him.

“What’s that?” Alan frantically asked.

“Just charge up. When it’s at its max, the tip of the blade will glow. Then all you have to do is slash in mid air!”

Alan didn’t have any time for mistakes. Alan started to charge energy in a small ball, which gathered at the emblem on his chest. The ball of energy turned pink as it went around Alan’s neck and looped around Alan’s right arm and the sword until just the tip of the blade glowed.

Burnerman’s swords were gaining at Alan, and he had no time for mistakes. “Aqua Boom!” Alan shouted as he slashed his sword at thin air. A pool of water suddenly appeared underneath where he slashed and flowed right at Burnerman, extinguishing his Burning Sword and damaging him. Burnerman grunted as he took a step backwards.

Alan’s sword reformed into his hand. “Fumikomizan, Code in!” His Aqua Sword returned to him as he gained a burst of speed and headed right through Burnerman slashing at him, creating a gash right at the center of Burnerman’s chest. Alan stood up and looked at him out of the corner of his eye.

“Well, you certainly have lots of tricks up your sleeve,” Burnerman said turning around and clutching his stomach. “But I have my own pile of tricks. Burning Jet!” Burnerman’s jets activated as his insignia on his helmet blasted a big burning beam. He raced off at Alan, with his burning part on his insignia pointed at the ground. Alan had a petrified look on his face as he barely jumped out of the way in time. However, scorching fires followed in the path of Burnerman, so he really couldn’t move anywhere quickly. Burnerman made a slow 180 degree turn and headed back for Alan.

“Alan! Use a Geyser!” Forte reminded him.

“All right, Geyser, Code in!” Alan punched up the code on his number pad and slapped his hand hard on the ground. A huge wave headed straight for Burnerman causing him to go to the opposite side of the gym and slammed hard at a wall. “Side Bamboo 2, Code in!” Two lances pierced Burnerman’s arms.

“You think these will hold me forever?” Burnerman said grunting from the pain.

“Long enough to finish you off!” Alan yelled as he ran straight for Burnerman. “Buster +, Code in!” Alan punched in the code and then formed the Forte Buster. “Charge Shot!” He yelled as energy started to be sucked into his chest insignia. The energy grew and grew until it became a big pink ball around his insignia. He held out his Forte Buster and pointed it at Burnerman. The pink energy went around his neck, coiled down his arm, and gathered at the muzzle of the buster for a quick second before he fired his buster and the collective energy with it. The force was so strong that it went straight through Burnerman’s chest and his data program. Burnerman yelled out in horror as he started to explode. He then stopped exploding, turned into a monochrome color, pixilated, and slowly faded away.

“Wow, you did it. You deleted Burnerman,” Forte said, impressed as the Dimensional Area around them faded away.

Alan’s Forte clothing broke off into data and then reformed into his cell phone. He grabbed it as it was falling to the ground. He then kneeled down and held his head. “Uh, man. That took a lot out of me,” Alan said as he tried to regain his breath

“Well, the first time you Cross Fuse, it will take a lot of energy. But the more times you cross fuse, the better off you’ll be.”

“I sure hope so,” Alan responded as he put his cell phone in his holder. “I wonder if Kayla made it out okay.”

Wow, perfect timing, my friend. Perfect timing. I've been having trouble writing chapter 3, so I'm releasing 2 early.

Chapter 2 – The Dream Team

Alan’s alarm buzzed off as he woke up in his bed. It was 6:12 in the morning and his ride to breakfast was going to come in about forty-eight minutes. Just enough time to take a shower. He climbed out of his bed to turn off his alarm and flip on the light. Again, the fan in the corner made a small hiss sound as it sprang to life.

Alan had fought Burnerman two days ago at the High School gymnasium and it had tired him out greatly. The next day he didn’t go to school since his entire body was weak. Alan’s mom didn’t want to ask how he got that way, she just thought he was finally deciding to work out but he did too much yesterday. Kayla and Ty came over that afternoon to check up on Alan, but he was still sleeping. They left Alan his stack of class work he missed for the day and left.

It was now seven in the morning and Alan had just finished reviewing his codes for battle chips. A knock came at the front door as Alexis ran downstairs to open it. “It’s probably for me,” she said proudly. She opened it up to see Ty waiting on the other side of the exterior door. “Oh, hi Tyler,” she said upset that whoever she was waiting for wasn’t there. She unlocked the exterior door as Ty opened it and stepped inside.

“In here!” Alan shouted from his comfortable position on the family room couch. Alexis closed the door and slowly walked back up the stairs. Ty walked into the family room.

“What’s with her?” Ty asked.

“Beats me, you ready?” Alan asked as he got up from the couch.

“Yeah, Kayla’s in the car. But she told me she’s been having some trouble with her computer lately. Before we go to breakfast, you want to see if you can check it out?” Ty asked.

“Do it afterwards. Food is always on the top of my priority list,” Alan replied as he got his shoes on.

“How could we ever forget,” Ty asked as he rolled his eyes.

~-~

After breakfast, the three of them went in Kayla’s house. He house wasn’t the biggest, and wasn’t the cleanest out of the three friend’s houses. In fact, it was kind of cramped. In the basement was Kayla’s computer. Ty and Kayla told Alan they would let him figure out the problem by himself. They remained upstairs as Alan went into the basement to the computer. He popped open the cover case which revealed the USB port.

“Forte,” Alan said as he grabbed his phone, “care to do the honors?”

“I’ll see what’s wrong and deal with it,” Forte responded.

“Good enough for me. Plug In. Forte, Transmission.” Alan quietly said as he plugged Forte into the computer.

Inside the computer, a purple beam of light hit the bottom of the mainframe as it formed into Forte. He walked the mainframe looking for anything out of place, but it was hard. “That’s strange,” Forte muttered.

“What’s strange?” Alan asked.

“I can’t find anything wrong. No viruses, no spyware, no adware. There’s not one program out of place. This area has gone through one hell of a sorting.”

“Well keep your eye out for anything strange,” Alan informed.

“Like that red program coming up to me from a distance,” Forte said as he looked at the program.

From what Forte could make out, the program was mostly all red. He had a point on his helmet that went upwards and a white circle going around his helmet. Also on his helmet were black shades, which covered his eyes. He had a small vest with his emblem on his chest. His gloves were red, his boots were red, even the sword, on where his right hand should be, was red. However, the cloth covering the rest of his body was half black half purple. From his helmet was a grey ponytail that reached the top of his boots. It wasn’t any normal program Forte had seen before.

“Who are you?” The program asked.

“I’m Forte.EXE. I’m a program here to inspect the system. The user who activated me said that his friend had a bug in the system and activated me to check it out,” Forte responded to try and sound convincing.

“You are a virus, don’t dare fool me,” the program responded.

“I’m no virus, but if it’s a fight you’re looking for,” Forte formed his Buster and pointed it at the program, “I fight you’ll get.”

“Fine,” the program responded as he ran towards Forte.

“Forte Buster!” Forte yelled as he fired off a couple shots.

“Blues Shield,” the program replied as a red shield appeared on the programs left hand. The shield blocked the attacks as he raised his blade to Forte.

“Area Steal, Code In!” Alan said as Forte disappeared before the program could slash at him.

“Dark Arm Blade,” Forte replied grasping the purple sword. He came down at the program and slashed, but the red program parried. The two went back and forth, slashing, dodging, parrying, and slashing again.

“Fumikomizan, Code In!” Alan said as the Dark Arm Blade disappeared. Forte’s hand reconfigured into a wide sword as he gained a burst of speed, slashing through the red program. The red program kneeled as he covered the gash left by the Fumikomizan.

Forte turned around forming his Forte Buster once more and slowly walked up to the red program. “You fought well,” Forte said. “What’s your name?”

“I don’t give my name to the enemy,” the program responded.

“I told you before, I’m not your enemy,” Forte tried to reassure the program. Suddenly, Forte was hit in the back by a pink beam of energy. He stumbled as he regained his balance and looked behind him.

Behind him was a blue program. Except for his face, he was head to toe in blue. A yellow block was on his helmet, then a space, and then a yellow rectangle went all the way to the back of his helmet. There were two ridges on either side that went from the front to the back of his helmet. He had black spiked hair coming out from the back. His green eyes looked friendly, yet his expression looked like he was really pissed off. He held out a blue Buster on his right hand pointed at Forte.

“Who’re you?” Forte asked.

“Nobody hurts Blues and gets away with it,” the program responded.

“Blues, is that your name?” Forte asked.

The red program used his sword to gain his balance as he stood up, “I told you I don’t give my name to the enemy.”

“We’ll take that as a yes,” Alan chimed in.

“Fine,” Forte jumped in the air forming two dark circles around his shoulders. “Hells Rolling!” he shouted as he flung the circles at the Blues and the blue program.

“Rock Buster!” the blue program shouted firing his buster at the oncoming dark circles. The buster shots hit the circle, but did no damage to it.

“Area Steal, Code In!” a girls voice rang through the net.

“What?” Forte asked.

Blues charged some energy as a pink ball formed around his chest emblem. It went around his neck, looped around his arm and the tip of his sword glowed. “Sonic Boom!” he shouted as he slashed. A wave of energy headed towards Forte. Forte went to move out of the way when something grabbed him from behind. He struggled but couldn’t move. The sonic boom hit Forte’s emblem, giving him a gash across his emblem. The blue program threw Forte to the ground as he just lay there.

“Forte! Recovery 200, Code In! Activate!” Alan shouted as Forte gained some of his hit points back. He slowly stood up as the blue program and Blues stood there.

“I’m not done yet,” Forte struggled to say.

“I can’t believe you’re the one who saved Kayla,” the blue program replied.

“What?” Alan asked.

“When Tyler heard how Alan deleted Burnerman, we wanted to test your powers,” Blues replied.

“Who are you?” Forte asked.

“My name is Blues.EXE,” Blues replied.

“I’m Rockman.EXE,” the blue program replied.

“Blues and Rockman?” Forte asked making sure he heard correctly.

“That’s right,” Rockman replied.

Alan looked behind him as Kayla and Ty were walking down the steps holding cell phones in their hands. Kayla had a blue cell phone while Ty had the red. “You got these kinds of cell phones too?” Alan asked.

“We got those 3 weeks ago,” Kayla informed Alan. “When I saw the Dimensional Area kick up, I was going to cross fuse with Rockman. However Burnerman showed up looking for me.”

“Burnerman? What did he want with you?” Alan asked.

“Kayla and I had been fighting with Burnerman for a while. We were able to steal one of their valuable programs,” Ty informed. “So Burnerman was looking for us. If I hadn’t been outside, I could have helped too.”

“But why didn’t you cross fuse when I told you to take off?” Alan asked.

“I wanted to see how good you were, and incase you could defeat Burnerman,” Kayla responded.

“Thanks,” Alan said feeling upset.

“Well, you were able to defeat him. Although I thought he had you with the Burning Jet,” Kayla smiled.

“But I was able to defeat him,” Alan said to make it sound like he was better than he normally was.

“Yeah, with my help,” Forte butted in. Alan sulked as he lowered his head.

“Kayla, shall we plug out of the network?” Rockman asked.

“Sure,” Kayla said as she plugged Rockman out of the computer. Ty and Alan plugged their navi’s out as well.

“Wait a second,” Alan said. “The man that I got Forte from said he had four cell phones originally. We have three, but the last one was a green cell phone. Who has that?” The three of them stood there not knowing the answer.

Captain Jack Trussel, ROTC, of the 21st Elite Sniper Squadron was walking around their base, located roughly fifty miles from Lac Nac High School. Jack was a high school graduate from Lac Nac, and in about 5 minutes, he would be cleared for leave. Jack really didn’t want to be fully active in the army, but one day the inspiration came to him to train to be a leader of a sniper infantry unit. He sighed as he continued looking at his cell phone for the time.

“Jack!” one of the other reserve officers came up to him. “What’s up? I haven’t seen you since the start of basic.”

“Hey Darrel,” Jack replied.

“Major Darrel Jakon,” Darrel corrected.

“My mistake, Major,” Jack emphasized on Major.

“Don’t worry, you can always call me Darrel, I don’t mind,” Darrel replied patting his old friend on his back. Jack sighed. Jack and Darrel had always been good friends. Jack was about 6’ 2” had red hair, brown eyes, and had an ego like a monster. He always wanted to prove he was the best. If he wasn’t the best, he tried harder. It was his drawback, which is why the general didn’t want to promote him to Major.

“Thanks Darrel,” Jack took out his cell phone again and looked at his clock. He smiled as he put it back in his pouch. “Listen, I need to go. I’m on leave now. I’ll catch you later.”

“No problem,” Darrel smiled. He looked behind him real quick to see something and then turned back. When he looked back, Jack was gone.

~-~

“So, do you think Burnerman will be back?” Alan asked.

“Uh, Alan. Word to the wise, if something’s deleted, it’ll take a while to remake it,” Forte replied.

“What about his friend?” Alan asked, ignoring Forte.

“Well, Burnerman wasn’t the only hacking program we’ve fought before,” Blues chimed in. “We’ve fought several other hacker programs. So, one or all of his friends might come looking for you now.”

“Great, just what I wanted to hear,” Alan sighed. All three cell phones started to beep.

“Kayla, I’m picking up a Dimensional Generator reading. It’s coming from the mall,” Rockman informed.

“Dimensional Generator?” Kayla asked.

“Looks like its Cross Fusion time again,” Alan smiled. “I was waiting for this.”

“Word to the wise, you’re not the only one that can-” Ty started to say.

“I know, I know. You can too. Let’s get going!”

~-~

Ty’s car pulled up to the entrance as they all piled out. Jack was walking by at the time and shouted “Hey, you know your car is going to get towed!”

“No time!” Ty replied back, not looking behind him.

Jack looked confused as he looked at his cell phone one more time. “Let’s see what the problem is,” he said into his phone.

The three of them ran into the central complex. They all got out their cell phones and looked around. “Forte, any sign?”

“None yet,” Forte replied. “It seems strange that we got the signal yet-Alan! The food court! He’s over there!”

“Let’s split up. If I can corner him then we can all battle together. If he escapes, you can try and catch up with him,” Alan replied. Kayla and Ty nodded as they ran off. Alan ran to the food court as he looked around. “Which computer, Forte?”

“He’s in the-gah. He left. He’s heading over to the shoe store!” Forte replied.

“I’m on it,” Kayla replied. Alan looked at his cell phone as there were three screens. One was a view from Ty’s phone, the second was Kayla’s phone, and the third was Forte trying to find the trace of the hacker.

“How did that happen?” Alan asked.

“Since we all have these special cell phones, we can all communicate with one another in an instant. All we have to do is link them up.” Forte informed.

“So does that mean you can plug in via someone else’s phone?” Alan asked.

“No. It’s like a video phone call.” Forte said.

“Oh,” Alan replied.

Kayla ran over to the shoe store and got out her cell phone. “Excuse me!” She yelled as she cut through the line. She ran up to the cash register. “Plug In! Rockman.EXE, Transmission!” She said as she plugged Rockman into the register.

The cashiers didn’t know what to do. They didn’t know whether to let Kayla continue what she was doing or call security. They decided to play by ear.

“We’re too late, Kayla. That’s the third one he’s set up,” Rockman sadly replied.

“Plug out. We’ve got to stop him!” Kayla plugged Rockman out of the computer and ran out of the store.

Ty ran up to a hallway and saw a fire alarm. He quickly ran to it and pulled it, hoping to get everyone out before the last generator kicked into action.

“Tyler, he’s located in the video game store,” Blues informed.

“Let’s get everyone out. We’ll have to battle him when he gets here,” Ty said. Blues nodded his head. “Alan, Kayla, let’s group up.

The mall was emptied in about 4 minutes as Alan and Kayla met up with Ty. In the distance, they could hear fire and police sirens coming. That was when the Dimensional Area kicked into life. The area covered the mall in a dome, preventing both from entering. Then there hacker showed up. The program was blue and yellow. He had yellow orbs on his shoulders that pulsated.

“Holy crap,” Ty said surprised. “Flashman?!”

“Well, who do we have here?” Flashman asked.

“Hey Flashman, whoever you are,” Alan butted in, “you’re about to experience a whole new definition of pain!”

Alan got out his cell phone. He typed in 7*#7 into his cell phone. “Synchro Code In!” Alan shouted as he pressed the activate button. “CROSS FUSION!” Alan and Forte shouted as the phone broke apart into data. The bright light surrounding Alan dimmed down as R Forte appeared.

Kayla got out her cell phone. She typed in 7*#7 into his cell phone. “Synchro Code In!” Kayla shouted as she pressed the activate button. Two half hexagons showed up on her phone screen and came together. Then the screen started to glow bright white and shined out of the screen. “CROSS FUSION!” Kayla and Rockman shouted as the phone broke apart into data. The data turned into outside clothing as it shaped itself into that of Rockman. However, the helmet was somewhat different. A black ponytail came out of the end of the helmet and there was a yellow and green deformed pentagon was on the helmet. The bright light surrounding Kayla dimmed down as R Rockman appeared.

Ty got out his cell phone. He typed in 7*#7 into his cell phone. “Synchro Code In!” Ty shouted as he pressed the activate button. Two half hexagons showed up on his phone screen and came together. Then the screen started to glow bright white and shined out of the screen. “CROSS FUSION!” Ty and Blues shouted as the phone broke apart into data. The data turned into outside clothing as it shaped itself into that of Blues. However Blues’ grey ponytail was a jagged blonde ponytail. The bright light surrounding Ty dimmed down as R Blues appeared.

The three of them stood battle ready. Alan formed the Forte Buster, Kayla formed the Rock Buster, and Ty formed the Blues Blade. Flashman stood and laughed. “You think the three of you can out match myself?” he replied.

“We’ll just have to see,” Alan said as he jumped in the air. “Forte Buster!” he yelled as he fired a couple shots towards Flashman.

“Neon Barrier!” Flashman replied. The buster shots ricocheted off of the barrier.

Alan landed on the ground and just stared. “How?”

“Don’t worry about that. He can’t keep that barrier up forever,” Forte replied.

“Well this is going to be fun then,” Ty said as a white mask formed on his face. “Bamboo Sword, Code In!” Ty punched up the Bamboo Sword code as it then formed on his right hand. He ran up to Flashman and swung, however it collided with the barrier and bounced off.

Flashman laughed again. “Giving up already?” he asked. Ty just stood in shock. “Thought so,” He took off, with his right hand, the yellow orb on his left shoulder. He held it out at Ty and yelled “Neon Light!” An electric pulse shot out of the orb and hit Ty, sending him flying and to the ground.

“Ty!” Alan called out as he ran up to his friend.

Flashman chuckled as he looked a Kayla. She was holding out the Rock Buster at his face. A pink orb was glowing around her emblem. She formed her battle mask as the orb split up, went around her neck, coiled down her arm and gathered at the muzzle for a quick second. “Charge Shot!” she yelled as a buster shot collided with the gathered energy. It multiplied the damage and shot out at Flashman.

“Neon Barrier!” Flashman called out as the barrier formed around him. However, the charge shot broke the barrier and hit Flashman in the chest. “H-how?” Flashman stuttered, trying to regain his balance.

“That’s what happens when you install a Break Charge program on your navi,” Kayla replied.

Alan helped Ty to his feet as they surveyed the battle.

“Alan,” Forte called out. “Breaking attacks will help us get through his Neon Barrier. Hells Rolling and Darkness Overload should do the trick.”

“That’s great, but I don’t know how to perform them,” Alan replied. Forte told him step by step what he should do in order to perform both attacks. Alan nodded and jumped off.

In the distance, Jack looked over what was going on. He saw R Forte, R Rockman, and R Blues fighting against Flashman. “So there are others,” Jack replied. He looked over to the side and saw one person hiding behind a counter in the mall’s import store. He walked over to the man. “Hello again,” he said.

“H-hi,” the man said frightened.

“You remember me?” Jack asked.

The man looked at Jack for a while until he stood to his feet. “You’re 1st Lieutenant Jack Trussel!” the man said surprised.

“Captain now,” Jack corrected.

“What’s going on?” the man asked.

“A couple of kids are attacking a hacker program,” Jack replied.

“A couple of kids? Oh, them,” the man replied.

“You know them?” Jack inquired.

“Yes, I also gave them the Cell PET’s, the remaining three that I had.” The man answered pleasantly.

“So you gave away Forte, huh? I thought you were never going to give him away,” Jack asked, trying to pull out some answers.

~-~

“Hells Rolling!” Alan shouted as he flung the two dark wheels at Flashman.

“Cannonball! Code In!” Ty shouted as he threw a cannonball at Flashman.

“Charge Shot!” Kayla yelled as she fired off her charged buster shot at Flashman. The three attacks hit Flashman and bruised him pretty badly. Flashman rose to his feet as the three stood there.

“Program Advance!” Ty shouted as he pressed the P.A. button on his holo-number pad.

“Huh?” Alan said as he looked at Ty.

Ty punched in a code, pressed activate, another code, activate, another code, activate. “Sword, Wide Sword, Long Sword! Code In!” He pressed the P.A. button again and said “Activate!” Ty put his hands in the air as energy started to gather and formed a sword. Ty grabbed the hilt of it and shouted “Dream Sword!” He flung the sword down which caused a huge sonic boom and went straight for Flashman. The wave hit him and threw him to the wall. His left arm was chopped off due to that’s where the sonic boom went through him.

“Program Advance!” Kayla shouted as she started punching in codes. “Hi Cannon, Triple Code In! Activate!” She held out her hands as energy gathered and formed a rectangular cannon, with a round muzzle at the end. “Giga Cannon!” she shouted as the cannon fired a shot at Flashman. It hit his right arm, tearing it off.

“Alan, use the Mugen Vulcan. Three Vulcan’s will pull it off,” Forte said.

“Got it, let’s see if this works,” Alan replied. “Program Advance!” Alan started punching in the codes. “Vulcan, Triple Code In!” A large Vulcan formed on his hand. “Mugen Vulcan!” he shouted as he fired off the multiple rounds at Flashman.

When the smoke cleared, Flashman was full of holes. His arms were gone, and his left leg was pretty torn up, but still attached to his body. “I’ll,” Flashman started, “I’ll get you for this!” He disappeared as the dimensional area faded.

The three friends rested easy as the data from their phone broke apart and re-formed their cell phones. The three of them grabbed theirs before they fell to the ground. “Well that wasn’t so bad,” Alan stated.

“Learned a couple new things, like my other two attacks, and Program Advances,” Forte informed.

“Though you still need to teach me how to do Dark Arm Blade,” Alan replied.

“In time,” Forte responded.

“Wait, so you didn’t know about Program Advances?” Kayla asked.

“Well, I knew about them, I just didn’t know how to perform them,” Alan replied.

“Not a bad light show,” a voice came from behind them. The three friends looked behind them to see Jack standing next to a man.

“Hey, it’s you,” Alan said referring to the man.

“Yes, my name is Tadakshi Setlu, but you can just call me Tadakshi,” Tadakshi replied.

“And who’re you?” Ty asked

“I’m Captain Jack Trussle, ROTC. I’m the leader of the 21st Elite Sniper Squadron,” Jack replied. He then got out his Cell PET which was green. He showed the screen to the group. On it was his Net Navi.

“I’m Searchman.EXE,” the navi replied. From what Alan could make out he was covered in green armored camouflage. He had a black helmet with a green strip covering the rim and going across the top of the helmet, from side to side. His orange hair ran down underneath his helmet. A blue visor covered up his left eye. His armor covered his chest, arms, and legs. On his right hand, however, was a permanent Sniper Rifle, also referred to as the Scope Gun.

“Cool, so you’re the person we’re looking for,” Ty replied after squinting to look at the navi.

“And you’re the ones’ I’m looking for,” Jack stated. “Come on. Let’s get to my base. I’ll clear you guys. We need to talk,”

“Uh, okay?” Kayla said, confused.
