Yugioh GX

Hey I just started watching Yugioh GX and I don't really get it does it have anything to do with the other season. I mean they are different characters and are any of them related to Yugi or something.

It's a spinoff type of show. The only relation to the old characters is that Yugi is the champion and stuff. This is a couple years after the final season of the original Yugi series.

The last episode is emotional, I saw the japanese one, i noticed lots of stuff that gets edited off the monsters, like the dark magician girl has a pentagram on the blue jewel between her boobs. I always though it was solid because of the english dub & the cards look like the actual cards in real life, but with japanese writing, I always knew the cards didnt look right

in the first episode of GX judai bumps into Yugi, and gets Hane kuriboh. I definately prefer the original series becasue ohh they are going to school to play cards sort of feel to GX almost makes it seem plot less. However it is a good solid series from the Japanse episodes that I have seen. It also focuses on someone other than the pharoh which is an ok change.

thus far, i only liked these episodes in GX:
Vs the Paradox brothers (part1&2)
Vs the 7-star (dark) duelists
Vs Kaibaman

the demon god arc is kickass

When I first heard of GX I thought, ' OMG,it's Harry Potter, Yugioh style!''

In October, my friends and I saw the movie Good Night and Good Luck, and their was a preview for GX before thje movie. It was fun hearing my friends going ' WTF, that's not Yugi.'

The preview was of a duel between Jaken and the freaky professor dude.

It's pretty good, it has a plot, it just took them some of the season to get to it. But so far the plots gone pretty well in the second season.

So far I just watch the japenese verson. I just dislike the name, music and card changes (well the card ones they can't really help) but I thought the oringal GX had some good music. I really love 99%. Oh and you just can't help but love Manjome Thunder ^^ (or chazz as he's called in the english verson...)

The only thing I dislike though is [spoil:72a41ad164]that little ball of fluff abandons Judai.... I mean it's like poof he's gone as soon as he loses to Edo.... oh well at least Judai has a new compainion now who can actuly TALK!!! (sorry I just really dislike hane kuribo now :puku: )[/spoil:72a41ad164]

I like the new cards. I uses to HATE Yugioh but I like GX the cards and the plot is cooler. I want to get the jackets they wear. There cool.

I weep that they ruined Manjyome Thunder by creating that lame chant "Chazz it up."

But yes GX is a Harry Potter-esque sequel of Yugioh that takes place years after the first series. Kaiba made Duel Academy and supposedly Yuugi's retired from it but that's what I've heard.

Yuki Judai is trying to become Yugi's successor but we get a lot of references of characters to the old show like for instance Pegasus AND Kaiba make appearances and the VS Yuugi's Deck two parter mentions a lot about Yuugi.

Heh Chronos... er Crowler seems more evil in the dub than in the original XD

Yeah but he gets less evil later. And I think yugi might still be dueling.
But some of the dub edits are good and some are bad, some names are bad while some edits that are neccecery are really noticible.

Far be it for me to be a shameless plug whore (for lack of a better term), but as some of you know, I'm currently contemplating a Yu-Gi-Oh! GX/Megaman Battle Network "mash-up" (AU of both GX and BN). I was going to have Dr. Regal replace Crowler, but soon changed my mind, as Planty would never forgive me if I made Regal comic relief. :]

I'd like to see the GX episodes subbed, as some of the translations in the dub are below par, and to see the original animation/artwork.

Also, Regal would be perfect if he was cast as Saiou...

Very similar. Good eye! GX Is a great show, although, in my opinion, they could have made a better dub. A lot of people have mentioned the Manjyome Thunder being turned into crap, but they also ruined Shou's "aniki" and Ojama Yellow's "Aniki!" They could have at least had them saying bro, or big brother (like Mokuba), but they ruined it. Also, why change a one sylable name to a two sylable name. Now they have to call him Sy, when his dubbed name is Syrus... is it just me or should a character have only one dubbed name (unless they have secret identities like Haru Haru Haruko-san or Izumi no Okuni, from FLCL and Samurai Deeper Kyo respectively). Tsk tsk, 4 Kids Tv, tsk tsk.

IMO the 1st season ends at episode "49. VS Kagemaru, The Awakening of the Three Legendary Demons, Part 2"
since its the end of the shadow 7-star duelists/demon gods arc

Hmm, If only they would show some new episodes on tv. We're at the plot now, we just have to show the episodes. I want to know what they call the demon cards. Egyptian demon cards maybe?

YuGioH GX is dead series in Canada alreadu shame though i'm sure the GBA game was a hit.Never tried it though.
