For those've you who heard a while ago about 4Kids losing the rights to the franchise, Pokemon USA is changing the cast for the anime...

Update from Pocket Monsters.net<Click It> about the newbreak, featuring e-mails from Veronica Taylor (Ash, May, Delia) and Eric Stuart (Brock, James). First the whole Sonic bullshit and now THIS?

How incredibly sad. The people at Pokemon USA seriously think no one will notice that the voice actors will be changed? What sort of bullhonkery is this?

And it's all because the executives just want a few extra dollars in their pockets...this is ridiculous. We can definitely expect some vehement opposition to this decision for April, and assuming that they continue this course of action, they'll see that the upcoming 10th Anniversary Special will be a total flop. Part of what made the dub somewhat good for me is that I actually liked the voice actors, and I'm sure many fans will too. The people are giving the viewers FAR too little credit.

That is all.

Wow... just wow. I'm really, really impressed to see that the voice actors are actually getting vocal about this too. And new music? Jebus, one of the redeeming factors of the Pokemon dub was that they kept most of the original music.
This is looking to be quite a disaster.

This wouldn't be Nintendo being pissed at 4Kids for making a deal with Rare and Microsoft to do a project, would it? (I'm talking about Viva Pinata here)

I often wonder what part of the executive brain doesn't equate high quality with big profits. Sure, spending the initial money to make a high quality product is risky, and it doesn't always work out. But when it does, the benefits are huge. Not only do you get money and lots of it, you get respect for making the extra effort, going the extra mile to get that quality. And even if it isn't successful, you still get that respect and the loyal fan base, who will still be around to support the next thing you do.

I, for one, am slightly excited about this new development. While it is a shame the classic voice-actors may be out of jobs, if the new ones can bring (new) talent to the table, they may redeem themselves. They may even be better. The only thing I don't like is the announcement of the all-american movie. First Yugi-oh (recently) and now this? I'm not a huge fan of American-made anime (with the exception of Avatar, although that's a very different case).

EDIT- You know what? On second thought this does suck! I watched an episode today (big shock! First time in a long time!) and actually (GASP) liked the voices. So I guess I'll really miss the classic VAs when they're gone. I actually liked the voice of May and Ash. *wipes lone tear from eye. "I'll miss you guys!"

Hardly anyone cares about the fans or people nowadays....

I actually don't care about this Pokemon change, but damn I'm still ticked at it. Just like what happended with Naruto, anime fans will be made fun of at school for this. I know for a fact the "American Movie" will be having 4983+ commecials to the point people will memorize the speech.

Needless to say, this sucks.

Darn, my favorite 4kids dub is going to be recasted. That sucks major toe, as I think that the voices for the most part are excellent. Hopefully the VA's e-mails are listened to, and we don't have to many drastic changes (lord knows we don't want another Dub Piece on our hands).

I wasn't too angered at what happened with the Sonic actors, but this is outright bullcrap.

I've had much respect for Veronica Taylor for quite some time, and to see her helpless in a case like this is rather sickening.

What does that have to do with the voices being changed?

Anyway, I haven't been watching Pokemon for a while so I don't really care much but the old VAs sound really upset which makes me feel sorry for them since they sound like they really enjoyed working on the show.

I first heard about this over on Janime. But I have a question. What is the point of keeping this series going except to make money? The story went down the toilet ages ago. I mean, the episodes have the same thing going episode after episode. Personally I couldn't care less what happens about this. The only thing that I like about this is the fact that since 4kids have lost their main project, hopefully Yu-Gi-Oh will soon follow, and 4kids will go bankrupt.

You just answered your own question.

As for the repetition, that's not 4Kids fault, the Pokemon anime was always repetative to begin with.

This is America, the greatest of the capitalist nations. Thus, the people worship money. Can't honestly be too surprised.

What I find funny is that rather than making them profit, this is probably going to lose them profit. Voices are what help make an anime, they are a BIG part of it, and to just do something like this for the sake of profit is unsettling. And not only are they simply recasting them, but they're recasting sound-alikes. Which just makes it all the more upsetting, especially to fans of the voices, like me.

You just answered your own question.

That was the point... if you answer your own question it's not an actually question, thus... no need to point that out.

At least the Voice actors have been given the heads up in advance. Actually, Sonic Team pulled off bigger BS than this. They weren't even going to notify them at all. It's not as bad as you people make it out to seem. What's the problem with passing the torch anyways?

You can dream all you want. They didn't lose anything; they intentionally let the rights expire. PKMN USA has wanted the anime since day 1. They got it now.

It's not like they had a choice or anything. Deem Bristow died, so they needed a replacement Eggman. Mike Pollock was more than happy to do it, but all 4Kids VA contracts include a clause that states that they can only work with other 4Kids VA's, whether they like it or not.

Well then it is 4kids fault for that. If they didn't have that in there then there would have been no problem.

Wasn't this their biggest money maker? Too bad 4kids will still linger for awhile, it may take them years to die.
