Hello, all. I was wondering if you fine forum folks could help me with something.
Recently, a friend of mine gave me a PSP for free. There's just one catch.....the damn thing's broken.
See, his friend had dropped it, and now when I try to turn it on, one of two things happens.
1. The main menu comes up, but everything freezes.
2. The power light comes on, but nothing comes up on screen.
Still, I accepted it, because I am hoping that getting it fixed will be cheaper than buying a new one.
So, my question is.....does anyoe out there know a good, reputable online repair shop that can fix my PSP at a reasonable price?
If anyone can help me, when I get my PSP fixed, I'll make an uber-special MMPU level just for you.
Thanks in advance!

Try calling Sony Customer Service? They're not exactly the friendliest people, but could probably help you or replace it for a price. |

i Googled your problem, and found these guys. i don't know how good they are, as i've never had to fix a system, but they seem pretty good to me.

$80 for a repair is a ripoff, considering you can get a replacement for a lot less. |

When I got one of those GBA SPs with a brighter screen but with a bad pad (nearly all of them don't pivot correctly), I had no problem with sending it in to Nintendo and them sending it back fixed. I also have a PSP that has four small defects (one is nasty because it slightly exposes the circuits) and I intend to send that to Sony for repairs after I get back from my vacation in a few days. It will still have plenty of time in the warranty.
BTW, since the GBA SP with the brighter screen was a defect the repair was free. |

Well, the only thing I can say is, check the PSP's model number to see if it's one of the early models (PSP1000 through PSP1002). Or press the square button a few times to see if it feels weird compared to the other buttons (the entire first batch had defective square buttons). If either of those statements apply, don't bother fixing it; it'll break again if you so much as look at it the wrong way because the early models sucked.
And given Sony Computer Entertainment America's reputation, I think it's safe to say their customer "support" will prove about as helpful for fixing a PSP as doing a duet with Ashlee Simpson would for a singing career. _________________ Math problems? Call 1-800-[(10x)(13i)^2]-[sin(xy)/2.362x]. |
