FAQ in playing REO Video Files

I've been getting quite a few e-mails about this, so I will put here a short help list in order to let you view these files properly.

What I usually use to play my files is either Media Player for windows, or Creative Playcenter (can be downloaded at download.com). Now then, here's the problem that must people have: they can hear the sound, but they get no video whatsoever.

You are probably missing the DivX codec needed to play the video file. I have to use DivX as a compressor, otherwise the video files would be absolutely huge and hard to download. You can download the free codec here:

UPDATE: (10/2/2004) I am now encoding all of my clips with XviD. ( http://www.xvid.org/ ) Please make sure you have this codec installed from now on.

Also, WPP EXE episodes are encoded with MP3 audio and DivX 3 or XViD. :) They should play in any standard player if you have both codecs that Ryouko mentioned installed.

Poochy also recommended BSPlayer to me, which works quite well as well. I keep both DivX and BSPlayer, if DivX doesn't work I use BSPlayer, and vice versa.

Ok, so now I know where to get the DivX codec, and i just found the XviD codec, at this site, is this the right one?

Can you tell my why I can't download Digital Anguish? Also I have Creative Media Player but it won't let me play the other Megaman music videos. Please reply back with some info. Thanks in advance.

You need to be registered at AnimeMusicVideo.org and then click on the 'Proceed' button to download Digital Anguish. As for the other videos, you need codec such as XviD or DivX to watch them. Google them and you'll find the installers.

You have to register on the forum before you can access the music videos. Click on the "Become a member!" link below the login panel and proceed with registration.

Last time I checked, you had to be a member for two weeks before you can download. You might want to read the rules at AMV.org.

When I downloaded "Bring Me To Life", it turned out ok but when I tried using WinZip to open it, it says that the file is corrupt. Can you help me fix this problem?

First of all cut down on the 'screaming/caps lock', please. Isn't going to make people take your request seriously.

Now, depending on what format your file is you might be missing especific codecs for the file you're trying to view. If you downloaded Digital Anguish from this website, chances are you're missing the latest xvid codecs, please visit their site and download the latest version of the codec.

If you are really unsure what codec you are missing, do these steps.

1. go to http://www.google.com
2. search 'GSpot'.
3. See if you find a program that's downloadable called 'GSpot'. Download it, and extract the file.
4. Install it, open it up, and then open your video file. It will tell you what codec you need/missing.
5. Go to Google again, search for the codec and download it.
6. If all fail, then just go search for K-Lite Codec Pack and then download that then.
