On the first day of high school a beautiful girl named Haruhi Suzumiya introduces herself as having "no interest in ordinary humans". She asks for any aliens, time travelers, sliders or espers to join her. Watching her weird behaviour is Kyon a boy who sits in front of Haruhi and is the only person who talks to her. Commenting on Haruhi's joining every club in school and then quitting Kyon unwittingly gives Haruhi an idea to start her own after school club. Thereafter Kyon and several others find themselves literally dragged into the Save our world by Overloading it with fun Suzumiya Haruhi's Brigade (the S.O.S. Brigade for short).

I watched the 2nd episode of the series and immediately fell in love with it. The parodies of FMP's attack and various other parodies and the sci-fi-alike attacks are just awesome to be leave out.

I was gonna make a topic for this. I've watched the first 3 episodes, and I really like it so far. It's definitely one of the more clever animes I've seen, especially for esentially being a high school-themed one.

Well, i heard about this anime time ago by a friend of my, i never wanted to see the anime because everytime i watch a new series i always fell in love whith them and i really dont have time to see them due to the lack of time in my schedule, but this wasnt a exception and my friend nearly killed me if i didnt watch it.
I only saw episode 1 and part of episode 2 and i must say that this series is to cool to let past, the first episode at first i didnt understand it untill like half episode when [spoil:474fc85523]i could understand that it was all a movie project by Haruhi and the rest of the crew.[/spoil:474fc85523].
The series is funny as hell and you very easy to fall in love whith.
Now the bad thing is that i cant finish seeing the series untill i get my final grades in school but i will be sure to keep track in this series.

After days of curiousness I finally checked in on this anime, and boy was I surprised! Creative, funny, and loveable, this anime is on my fave list now! Just got done with episode 5, and I'm hooked. One confusing thing though, is the numbering system. Episode 1 is really episode 0, and chronologically things are all odd.

During the preview, Haruhi will always say the correct episode chronologically, before Kyon corrects her and says the episode number according to air date order.

e.g. on preview at end of episode 8

"Next time on The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, episode 14."
"Wrong. Next time on The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, episode 9."

Lessens the confusion somewhat. ;P

I've noticed that too, but for some reason she said 9 instead of 10 for the next episode preview on episode 5 (which is really 3). Is this the chronological order?->>> 2, 3, 5, 10, 13, 14, 4, 7, 6, 8, 1, 12, 11, 9 Haruhi chronilogical order. Or is it 2, 3, 5, (9), 13, 14, 4, 7, 6, 8, 1, 12, 11, (10)?

OMG HARUHI. X3 I love this series, but right after episode 14, the plot just kind of falls apart. The series is really interesting in general, and of course the animation is very clean too! (See episode 12 - the part where Haruhi and the band starts singing God Bless. I'm really sure that KyoAni animated the instrument-playing accurately.)

There's too much fanservice at times (check Haruhi x Mikuru scenes), but I really enjoy this series. Kyon's remarks at eerything is sometimes comical, and he is not stereotyped as some guy who just wants to get into Haruhi's pants.

My favorite episodes would have to be the episode where Yuki fights Ryoko and the one where they have to save the computer club president from the cave cricket. I just love how the battle scenes are animated.

My favorite character is Itsuki, with Yuki coming up second. Why? Because Itsuki's always grinning. :D
