Lately I've been seeing numerous locked topics involving someone trying to revive an old thread or creating a new one because the old one is too old. I don't think anyone is at fault for this per se; the mods are just doing their job and the forumers aren't sure how old is too old and they should just make a new thread for their topic. However, I do think the rule regarding reviving old topics needs to be revised so as to clarify how old a topic can get before a new one has to be made. While this won't deter people who spam for the sake of it, or just don't care about the rules, I do feel bad for the few people who just aren't sure and might get discouraged because they end up with a locked thread.
You can easily set a time limit based on either how many pages down the thread is, or how long it's been since someone has posted in it. The mods seem to generally know what that limit is, but I want it to be made clear to the average forumer who ends up getting a slap on the wrist they probably didn't deserve. _________________ Stuck In The Middle With You; a Metroid and Halo crossover

I don't think that's an issue. The current rule is this:
The Forum Rules wrote: | • You may only revive an older thread if you are adding something constructive to the conversation. If there is an older thread regarding something you wish to discuss, please feel free to reply to it rather than creating a new topic. |
I think most revivals get moderated because the person who revived didn't actually add anything constructive.
I suppose I will also note that the double posting rules are being revised, since we have been forced to disallow normal member from using the edit function.
Basically, people are now allowed to double post so long as it is to add constructive new content to the thread. _________________ (\ ºvº\ (\

Well, that's a good change, since most people usually forgets to add something to their first post and had no choice but to create a second post in the row. |

In reaity though, nobody really checks to see if its constructive, they'll just lock it straight away. |

This is your first and last warning against trolling. Next offense will be a ban. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

Ryouko, aren't you a bit too strict against people's opinions and theories? I have seen other forums tolerate such small deeds better than you and your moderators do, because there are people who's yet to learn about order in here. Jumping at people just because they make some wrong moves is like being a Civil Protection who attacks people that takes wrong steps on the streets. For you other moderators, do you remember SaitoRockman?
Why can't you at least take it easier and in the same time let the people learn from their mistakes? Errare humanium est, like they said. Seriously, such acts concerns the affected people and makes this community less prosperous. Although I am very familiar with the forum world and been an admin in one of them, I am not familiar with your's.
I wonder if you dared to make a list of the "banned onoes :<" and put up the good reasons for the banning? How many people have been banned in this forum totally? For how long are they banned by default? How big is the scale between the mild rule-breakers and the blatant rule-breakers? Interesting, am I wrong? :/
I'm sorry if you feel that I was too rough on you. It's not that I disapprove your methods, but I criticize your ways of acting against those who would be happening to break the rules, especially if it was an accident.
Sincere regards, Artifact.
P.S. I know it's hard to take care of things the right way when they cost money, but I could help you by sharing my economies at least once. |

I believe... unless I'm completely mistaken or half-asleep, that...
a) That piece was meant to Crazy because he was inside the group of Geoff groupies that, apparently, came around to troll the forum and the channel, so it wasn't precisely a new thing. At least, that's the version I know (someone correct me if I'm wrong, please). The problem is that if you don't know the backstory of the warning, you won't understand the sudden warning, which is probably why it looks so ugly.
b) Ryouko's more strict with her forum because previous experiences in the past forced her so. Trolls, sockpuppets, forum being hacked once, rpg people going insane... you name it. It's a long story I'm afraid I can't recall in its entirety by now, pretty much because I'm typing this as I'm about to leave for school so I don't have much time to tell it. However, I expect Ryou to wake up soon and kindly inform you about it.
c) About SaitoRockman's case... official story, if I recall correctly: violating the no advertising rule repeatedly besides, and that time when he insulted a badfic writer -post should be around the fanfic library if you're looking for it- and other flames thrown around at general and fanfic. So there's the official version. If you need to see the posts I can give you links later, as they haven't been purged from the forum, and you can make your judgement if he deserved it or not.
d) The banlist was suggested before, but it wasn't taken into action because Ryou and other mod staff (I wasn't there when it happened IIRC) considered it'd give some banned people some sort of 'recognition' they really didn't deserve.
So there it is. Feel free to comment or PM me any thoughts about it, I'd be glad to discuss them later. :) _________________

Mari pretty much summed it up pretty well. We have a rather efficient system that keeps track of every offense for each member. We just choose to not post it publically, out of respect for those members, and to not humiliate them. Please know that we do warn fairly though, and in most cases any member we ban was given numerous chances to redeem themselves before we took the ultimate action.
In crazy's case, apparantly you didn't see the monster threads concerning EXEHQ. In which case, you should leave the judgements to the administrators and mods, and let us do our jobs. _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls.
