|
|
I can't remember the exact episode number, but I was watching an episode of Rockman.exe today, on YouTube, don't have the money to import the DVDs, and it was the one where Stoneman and Bombman are introduced.
Well, before they appear, there are two navis, one with a pickaxe called Zankuri, or something like that, and one with a bunch of drills called "Drillman" and kinda looked like THE Drillman, but it wasn't.
I know MMBN3 wasn't released yet, but how exactly did they fix this when THE Drillman was introduced?
Sorry if this was asked a million times, but I'm new. -_-; |

Mistransliteration. It sounded like Drillman (Drill Maha?) so it was presumed he was the Drillman. _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

So it's Drill Maha....that's quite a strange name for a navi, I guess the pronounciation even fooled the subtitlers too. They all put Drillman.... :puku:
Thanks. |

The real drillman was in the second season wasn't he? Is that when protoman's long day was? |

Drill Mach......that makes more sense. Dang, that guy does sound like he's saying Drillman though.....must be the accent.
To person who posted about DrillMAN's appearence, yes, he first appeared in that episode...heh heh. Thanks for clearing up my confusion.....(Why did they have to make TWO Drill navis? -_-; ) |

Perhaps someone on the anime staff liked Drillman so much he couldn't wait for Capcom to make him, so he made his own version to put in the anime. |

Or they made Drill-Mach. >_>;
Though, NT Warrior screws it up and calls him DrillMan in the dub.
I'm not sure if an accent is involved in the pronunciation of Mach as "maha," because the new teacher in EXE6, (minor but possible EXE6 spoilers): [spoil:7243e23bea]Mach-sensei's[/spoil:7243e23bea] name is pronounced the same way. The romaji for his name is even "maha," not [spoil:7243e23bea]"maaku"[/spoil:7243e23bea] or something. _________________

I'm not familiar with any dialects that would lead to it, but "maha" is definitely how they pronounce it in that episode. _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

And yet when the dub of "Blues' Long Day" was released with the lost episodes, they still called that one DrillMan. _________________

I wonder if Speed Racer could help us find the answer. :) _________________ One of the three EXE sisters! *Armstrong-style pose*

Yeah, I agree that it is definitely pronounced "Maha" in that episode. I'm not doubting that. But it seems the word "mach" is pronounced "maha" for some reason, and not just in this case... |
In some countries, people pronounce words differently because they believe that it's the proper pronounciation. "Mach" and "Maha" is an example. There are other words that are pronounced differently like "Hercules" <--> "Heracless". I'm not sure why, but it's not uncommon to hear different pronouciations :O. _________________ Slur > j00
