This fanfic is just a preview for a possible sequel to Rockman.EXE: The College Years. It's set several years after College Years ends and it focuses on the characters' kids.

This fic is just to give you an idea of what the future may hold.

----------------------------------------

“Boys, breakfast is ready!” a thirty-five-year-old Maylu Hikari called as she scooped the eggs from the frying pan and distributed them evenly onto four plates. She picked up the dishes carefully and brought them over to the table, where her husband, Lan Hikari, was reading the newspaper.

“Lan, do you want to go upstairs and wake the boys?” asked Maylu.

“Sure, Maylu.” Lan set the paper down on the table and walked upstairs and went straight to the door at the end of the hall. Opening the door, he looked inside. Two beds sat against opposite walls. One half of the room was an unfathomable mess while the other was completely spotless. Quietly, Lan stepped inside and made his way to the window. Then with one swift motion, he pulled the blinds away, flooding the room with sunlight.

“Boys, it’s time to get up!” he announced. From the messy side of the room, Lan received a grunt and a moan as a response. From the clean side, a boy with reddish-brown hair and brown eyes sat up in bed and yawned as he stretched while clad in a set of light blue pyjamas.

“Patch, get up,” Lan said sternly to the boy on the messy side. After receiving yet another moan, he grabbed onto the covers and yanked them off, exposing a boy with the same reddish-brown hair and brown eyes as the former. The youth yelped as he tried to grab his sheets, but to no avail. He quickly grabbed his pillow and tried to cover his naked body as best as he could.

“Dad!”

“Well it sure got you up. Boys, hurry up and get dressed and come down for breakfast.” With that said, Lan left the boys’ room and headed downstairs. The boy he had called Patch turned his gaze from the door and looked over at the other.

“Better do as dad says,” said the other boy as he started to make his bed.

“Shut up, Link.” Patch got up and began to get dressed. By the time he finished, Link was already done. The tidy boy wore cream-colored slacks, a sky-blue button-front shirt, white socks, and a dark blue sweater vest with the family icon over the left breast. Patch’s attire consisted off baggy blue carpenter jeans sagged just a little below the waistband of his boxers, a white undershirt, a bright orange T-shirt with flame designs all around it that he left unbuttoned, black socks, and a blue headband tied around his head with the family icon over his forehead. Once the boys were dressed, they grabbed their backpacks off the floor and headed to the bathroom.

Patch and Link Hikari were the eleven-year-old twin sons of Lan and Maylu with Patch being older by ten minutes. They both had the same color hair and eyes as well as the exact same features. The only physical differences between them were that Patch’s face was slightly rounder than that of his brother and Link’s body had a very slightly smaller build and he had a slightly higher voice. However, there were other and more obvious ways to differentiate the twins. The two of them had completely different personalities. Link was always willing to do whatever he was told. He always worked hard in school and he always tried to stay out of trouble. Patch, however, was the exact opposite of his brother. He was rather rebellious and he always slacked off in school, often getting his twin to do his homework for him instead. He always caused trouble and quite frequently dragged his brother in with him despite Link’s protests. Another way to tell them apart was the way they dressed. Patch was considered the “cool twin” and always dressed to fit that profile while Link was known as the “smart twin” and he always wore clothes that gave him an intelligent appearance.

Once the twins had finished dressing and did their business in the bathroom, they grabbed their bags from their bedroom floor and headed downstairs.

“Morning, mom!” they greeted simultaneously as they entered the kitchen. They dropped their backpacks beside the door and sat down at the table. While Patch distributed the bowls and spoons, Link poured the cereal and milk.

“Hey, check it out! I got another camera!” Patch exclaimed. As he pulled the cereal prize out of the box.

“Hey! You got the toy last time,” Link argued.

“Boys, no fighting,” Maylu said sternly.

“You guys got everything?” asked MegaMan as his hologram sat on the table reading the sports section.

“We’re all set!” Link assured his father’s NetNavi.

“And we’ll make sure they stay out of trouble,” a new voice piped up as two NetNavi holograms appeared on the twins’ shoulders.

“Glad to hear it, Rock and Vent,” said Roll. Patch’s green-eyed Navi Rock wore a black skin-tight bodysuit, an orange vest similar to the one Lan used to wear when he was the twins’ age with matching gloves and boots, and a helmet designed similar to MegaMan’s, but with two antennae like Roll’s in place of crests. Green hair stuck out from the bottom of his helmet and flowed down to his waist. Link’s Navi Vent wore a bodysuit that covered his arms and torso in black and his legs in white with yellow stripes running down his sides. His gloves and boots were blue right up until the wrists and ankles. The parts covering his hand sand feet were a lighter shade of blue. His torso was covered in blue armor with a yellow collar. His helmet was also blue with a sky-blue stripe running down the middle and a red gem set into the center of his forehead. His eyes were brown and a few locks of brown hair stuck out from underneath his helmet. Both NetNavis bore their operators’ icon on their chests, which was a yellow ring surrounding a pink circle with two black triangles connected by a thin diagonal black line. In addition to their own unique qualities, each Navi had been given one of MegaMan’s special abilities. Rock had been programmed with the ability to utilize Crosses and Vent had been given the power of Unison Styles, which was similar to Style Changes but also gave him new NetNavi powers.

“Come on, boys. Hurry up and finish breakfast so your mom can take you to school,” Lan informed his sons as he finished his breakfast and placed the paper back on the table. He placed his dishes in the sink and grabbed his briefcase.

“Hey, wait for me!” MegaMan called. His hologram quickly vanished from the table and reappeared on his operator’s shoulder.

“Have a good day at work, Lan,” Maylu wished her husband.

“I’ll see you when I came home.”

“Love you.”

“Love you, too.”

A pair of gagging sounds could be heard and Lan and Maylu turned to see the twins pretending to choke.

“You know, one day you guys are going to fall in love, too,” said Rock.

“Well we know that. We just don’t want to see mom and dad do it in front of us,” Patch retorted. He finished his cereal and ran off to the living room, leaving Link to clean up after him. After ten minutes, the boys put on their shoes and headed out to their mother’s car.

“Shotgun!”

“Shotgun!”

“No one’s riding shotgun today,” Maylu informed the boys as she hustled them into the backseat. After a short drive, they finally arrived at school.

“I’ll see you boys after school,” the redhead said t o her sons.

“Actually, you’ll be seeing us in music class,” Link corrected before he and Patch headed in through the front gate.

“One advantage to having our mom as a teacher is we save a lot on bus fare,” the elder twin said thoughtfully. As the boys entered the school, they saw a tall girl with black hair and white bangs getting her books out of her locker. She wore a red vest, a black shirt, sky camouflage pants, and red shoes.

“Hi, Kyra!” Link greeted cheerfully.

“What’s happenin’, sweet thang?” greeted Patch.

“Give it up, Patch,” a girl’s voice interrupted, “She’s not interested.” The voice belonged to a girl the same age as the twins with brown eyes and chestnut hair. She wore an icy-blue top and white pants with matching shoes. Next to her was a boy about a year younger than everyone else with light grey hair and light brown eyes. He wore black shorts, a red tank top, and white shoes and socks along with a blue jacket tied around his waist. The former was Sarah Froid, daughter of Tory. The latter was Ram Obihiro-Ayano, son of Sean and Yai, who, despite his age, was in the same grade as the twins but not in the same class.

“Hi Ram and Sarah!” Link greeted.

“What makes you think I don’t have a chance?” Patch challenged Sarah’s earlier statement.

“Do you even know what Kyra looks for in boys?” the chestnut-haired girl asked. Patch was about to answer when he and his brother were suddenly pounced on from behind.

“Hey, Hikaris! Good to see ya again!” The voice that had spoken belonged to a NetFrican-Netopian boy the same age as the twins with dark brown dreadlocks. He was wearing a loose-fitting black T-shirt, vomit-green pants, blue shoes, a Jamaican flag sweatband around his left wrist, and a piece of bling around his neck that bore his NetNavi’s icon. He was Dex’s son, Caesar Oyama.

“Jumped us again, Caesar,” Link observed, “Can you please get off?”

“Sorry.” Caesar released his hold on the twins and stepped back just as the bell rang.

“Time for class. See you guys later,” said Kyra as she headed off.

“Later, sweet thang!” Patch replied as he waved only to get dragged off to class by his brother.

“I’ll see you guys later, too,” said Ram before walking to his classroom. Patch, Link, Caesar, and Sarah went off together into their class and sat down at their respective desks. It wasn’t long before their teacher, a middle-aged man with glasses and blond hair by the name of Mr. Petto, stepped into the room and took his place at the front of the room. Everyone’s desks had sensors built in to record the student attendance for the day and then send the information to the teacher’s desk. After Mr. Petto checked the day’s attendance record, he sent the information to the office and proceeded with the first lesson.

“Okay class, it’s time to jack in your Navis.” All the students did as they were told and beamed their NetNavis into the class computer. Upon entry in the system, Rock and Vent were immediately greeted by Caesar’s and Sarah’s Navis. Caesar’s NetNavi, Rap, had a slightly lighter skin tone than his operator. He wore a grey bodysuit and green gloves, armor, and boots with two silver rings around his shoulders. His helmet was bright green with grey along the sides and a pair of silver crests running along the top. Instead of a power pack like most humanoid Navis, Rap had a pair of batteries on his back. His icon, located on his chest, resembled a CD. Sarah’s Navi, Glacia, wore a bodysuit similar to ProtoMan’s with ice-blue down the middle and silver down the sides. She wore shiny, knee-high, crystalline-blue high heel boots with a silver gem set in at the knees and a silver line running down the fronts of each one. Likewise, her gloves were of a similar design and her torso was covered with armor made out of ice with small icicles protruding from her shoulder guards. The front of her helmet had a crown-like design, giving her a sort of ice queen look. Her face was as white as snow and her eyes were icy-blue and her lips were silver. Long silver hair flowed out from under her helmet and stopped at her waist. Just a little above her chest was her icon, which was a white snowflake against a black background inside a blue ring.

“Hey Glacia. Hey Rap. Good to see you guys again,” Rock greeted.

“Hi, boys. You two keeping the twins out of trouble?” asked Glacia.

“Link’s no trouble at all,” Vent assured her, “Patch is the real case.”

“But we still love them both equally,” said Rock.

Back in the real world, Mr. Petto started the lesson. Everyone in the classroom turned on their personal computers, activating their touchpad keyboards and projecting their holographic monitors. First was English class. The teacher reached into his briefcase and pulled out a stack of papers.

“Why do we still do tests in longhand when we’ve got all this tech?” Patch whispered to himself.

“I’ve finished marking your essays,” Mr. Petto announced, “A lot of you did really well. However, a few of you still have a ways to go. Anybody who received less than fifty percent, I’d like to see you at my desk at first recess.” He walked around the class and handed out the essays. Link, not surprisingly, got a ninety-seven percent on his. Sarah and Caesar tied at seventy-six percent. Patch gulped as he flipped over his paper and looked at it. A fifty-one percent was written at the top in red ink with a comment next to it saying, “Try harder”.

“Just narrowly passed,” Link commented.

“Shut up,” Patch snapped.

“Okay everyone, now that you have your essays back, put them away and take out your books. Today we’re starting poetry,” announced Mr. Petto.

“Ugh! Poetry,” Patch muttered as he banged his head on his desk.

“You hate everything related to school that involves sitting at a desk,” Link replied.

“I’ve actually been looking forward to this unit,” Sarah said excitedly.

“Mr. Petto, are we gonna have to write any poems?” Caesar asked after raising his hand.

“Yes, Caesar. You will all be getting an assignment where you will have to write a poetry anthology,” answered Mr. Petto.

“Man, why do we have to write poetry?” complained Patch, “Only girls like this stuff.”

“That’s not true,” responded his twin.

“Oh really? Name me ONE famous guy poet.”

“Robert Frost.”

“That’s right, Link,” said Mr. Petto, “A lot of famous poets were men. In fact, even today’s music artists can be considered poets.”

“Never thought about it like that before,” Caesar said thoughtfully, “This whole poetry thing might be easier than I thought.”

“Anyway, let’s begin with our lesson. We’ll start with some of the simplest poems. Everyone, please turn to page 271 in your anthologies.” While everyone was getting their books out, Mr. Petto turned and started to write on the board, which instantly converted his handwriting into Times New Roman font large enough for the whole class to see.

“Limericks are poems consisting of five lines. The last word of lines one, two, and five all rhyme with each other and the same applies to lines three and four.”

An hour and a half passed before the bell rang for morning recess and everyone got up from their seats and headed outside.

“Man, we just had to have double English today,” Patch muttered, “And we’ve gotta write fifteen poems for this anthology assignment that’s due in two weeks. Hey Link…”

“Do your own stinking homework for a change,” Link shot back, “We get homework so we can learn.”

“Whatever. Caesar, go meet me at the court. I’m gonna go get a ball.” Patch went to sign out a basketball from the gym before joining his friends outside. Ram, Caesar, and Kyra were already on the basketball court waiting for him while Link and Sarah sat off to the side.

“Okay, I’m here. Who’s with who on which team?”

“We’re playin’ against Ram and Kyra,” Caesar informed the elder Hikari twin.

“Hey, I wanted to be on Kyra’s team!” Patch exclaimed.

“We drew cards and Kyra and I both drew red,” said Ram as he returned a deck of cards to his pocket, “Now are we gonna play or just stand here yapping?”

“You guys are goin’ down,” said Caesar as he took the ball from Patch and bounced it on the ground.

“Who’s the ref, guys?” asked Kyra.

“I’ll be ref,” Link volunteered. He walked onto the court and took the ball. Patch and Ram faced off against each other and waited. Link tossed the ball into the air and ran off as quickly as he could. Ram was the first to snag the ball and he immediately passed it to Kyra.

“I think Patch is out of his league here,” Link commented.

“You think so, too?” replied Sarah.

“Sure,” the brunet replied, “Kyra was on the girls’ basketball team last year and Ram’s been practicing to try out for the boys’ team this year. Caesar is good, but his true passion lies in music. As for Patch himself, he’s a soccer guy.”

“I see your point.”

Half an hour later, recess ended and classes resumed. Science was one subject Patch actually looked forward to. As it turned out, Mr. Petto was teaching them about pressure and the day’s experiment had the kids make rockets out of two-litre pop bottles. What made it even more fun was the fact that the whole class got to work outside. The four friends ended up working together on the same rocket. While Patch read off the instructions sheet that had been handed out, Patch, Sarah, and Caesar built the rocket.

“It looks great,” Sarah commented as Caesar finished taping the last fin to the bottle.

“Okay. Next we go ask Mr. Petto and tell him we’re ready.” The four kids walked up to the teacher together with their rocket and showed them their finished work.

“Great going, kids. I’ll just fill this with some water.” Mr. Petto filled the bottle about half-full and handed it back. At the same time, he gave then a stopper and some antacid tablets.

“Okay, we’re supposed to put these tablets inside the bottle and then close it up with the stopper. Then we’re supposed to quickly stand it up and run,” Link read.

“Well, here goes nothing.” Sarah dropped the tablets into the bottle and put the stopper on. She quickly flipped it over and set it down on the ground before the four friends backed away. A few seconds later, their rocket shot up into the air.

“And we have lift off!” shouted the twins.

“Gimme some skin, guys!” Caesar held out his hand and everyone slapped theirs down on his palm.

“Secret handshake, bro!” Patch said in a congratulatory tone. The twins knocked their right fists together, then the backs of the same hands followed by their palms before sliding them apart. The brothers took one step back away from each other and stretched their left arms out toward each other while holding their right arms behind them with their hands over their head. Once the twins were in this position, they began to wriggle their fingers.

“You two need your own sitcom,” Caesar said nonchalantly.

“Maybe we will,” answered Patch.

“Someday,” finished Link.

After science, the students went to the music room for their class. Maylu was the school’s music teacher.

“Get out your instruments, everyone,” she instructed the students.

“Yes, Mrs. Hikari,” everyone save the twins answered.

“Right away, mom!” Patch and Link said simultaneously. The two of them grabbed their tenor saxophones out of the cabinet and sat down. The boys sucked on their reeds as they assembled their instruments and took their mouthpieces out and placed them on last before attaching on said reeds. Sarah had already finished assembling her flute and was practicing some scales while Caesar banged away on the drum set in the back. Once everyone had settled down with their instruments and music folders, they turned their attention to Maylu.

“Okay everyone, let’s start with some warm-ups. After that, I’ll start handing out music we’ll be playing at the next school concert.”

After music class ended, it was time for lunch. Since it was such a beautiful day, Patch, Link, Caesar, Sarah, Kyra, and Ram decided to eat lunch outside. They found their favorite spot underneath a large tree in front of the school and sat down.

“What do you guys have?” asked Patch.

“I brought a salad,” answered Kyra.

“No thanks,” said the older twin, “What about you, Caesar?”

“Curry,” answered the NetFrican-Netopian boy as he opened his thermos and poured the hot stew into a bowl he grabbed from the cafeteria.

“I’ll trade you my red licorice for your nachos, Link,” Ram offered.

“Deal.” Link and Ram made the trade and resumed eating.

“What are you eating anyway, Ram?” Sarah wondered.

“PB and J,” was the grey-haired boy’s answer, “You can never go wrong with a classic.”

“Hey Ram, I got a question,” Patch piped up, “Your family is rich, so why do you eat simple lunches all the time?”

“My mom keeps asking me the same thing,” answered Ram, “but my dad says you shouldn’t flaunt you wealth.”

“Is that way you were shorts and a tank top instead of nicer clothes?” asked Kyra.

“No, I just hate dress clothes. What about you, Sarah?” What are you eating?”

“Microwave lasagna,” was Sarah’s response before she got up to use one of the cafeteria’s microwaves. Patch has a turkey and lettuce sandwich while his brother had a peanut butter and banana sandwich. After everyone had finished eating, the six friends spent the rest of their lunch hour playing soccer.

“You guys wanna come to my place after school for a bit?” asked Ram, “My dad installed a new NetBattle machine recently and he said I could use it whenever I needed.”

“Sounds great, Ram!” Patch exclaimed excitedly.

“I’ll just go tell mom.” Link, who had been playing goalie, tossed the ball over to Caesar before heading inside the school. He made his way to the teacher’s lounge and knocked. The vice-principal was the one who answered the door.

“Mr. McPhee, could I please speak with my mom?” Link asked politely.

“Sure thing, Link.” Mr. McPhee ducked back into the room for a moment and Maylu came out about a half-minute later.

“Did something happen between you and Patch again?” she asked.

“No,” Link replied, “I just came to tell you that we’re going to Ram’s house after school.”

“Okay, but be back by dinner.”

“Thanks, mom.” Link gave his mother a hug and turned to return to his friends, but the bell rang.

“You better get back to class, Link,” said Maylu.

“I will, mom. And thanks for letting us go.”

After everyone returned to their classrooms, Mr. Petto took out several papers and began placing them on his students’ desks.

“Alright everyone, here are your math tests. Print your name and the date in the spaces provided. You’ll begin once everyone has a test.”

“Man, I hate tests,” Patch mumbled under his breath.

After the test, they moved on to art. Following that was afternoon recess. When everybody came back in, it was French and afterwards, gym class. When there were five minutes left in the class, the PE teacher, Mrs. Griffin, called everyone to go get changed.

“I can’t believe we played dodgeball,” Link thought out loud as he opened the locker he shared with his brother and took off his gym shirt.

“I can’t believe you got knocked out first three games in a row!” Patch laughed.

“YOU tagged me out!” Link yelled back.

“Guess I did,” Patch said mock-triumphantly. Link shook his head and took off his shorts. Patch quickly finished changing and started leaving the locker room, but stopped at the door.

“Hey, Link. Check it out! There’s some loser in the hallway in his underwear!”

“No way!” Link ran over to look, “Who is it?”

“You.” And with that, Patch shoved his brother out of the locker room and locked the door.

* * *

“I can’t believe you locked me out in the hallway with no clothes again!” Link ranted as he, Patch, and the others left school for Ram’s place.

“That’s not a nice thing to do, Patch,” Kyra chided.

“Hey, at least he had his boxers on this time,” Patch answered, “I could’ve stolen them first and then pushed him out like I normally do.”

“When I tell mom about this, she is so going to cut your allowance,” Link said in a threatening tone.

“Well at least I’m not the one whose shirt is sticking out of his open fly.” Patch watched with a big grin as his brother looked down and screamed before trying to stuff his shirt end back in and zip himself up.

“Dude, that was so not cool,” Ram said monotonously.

“What? All I did was save him the embarrassment,” Patch said defensively.

“But it was the way you said it. Now come on, guys. Let’s pick up the pace.” Ram reached into his backpack and pulled out a collapsible skateboard. He unfolded it with one flick of his arm and dropped onto the ground before stepping on and pushing ahead. The twins reached into each other’s bags and pulled out a pair of snap-on rollerblades each. They quickly swapped skates, slapped them onto the soles of their shoes, and followed Ram. Behind them, Sarah, Caesar, and Kyra unfolded their scooters and swiftly trailed behind them. After a half-hour, they arrived at the gates of the Obihiro-Ayano mansion. Ram walked over to a panel on the side and keyed in a code followed by a scan of his fingerprints, retina, and voice. Once the security check had been completed, the gates opened and a servant driving an airport cart appeared.

“Welcome home, Master Ram,” he greeted.

“For the umpteenth time, just call me Ram,” groaned the grey-haired boy as he sat at the front with the driver while everyone else piled into the back seats. After a two-minute ride, they arrived at the front steps and took an escalator to the front door.

“No matter how many times I come here, I will never cease to be amazed by the size of those double front doors,” Link thought aloud in awe. He watched as Ram knocked and a significantly smaller door opened up in one of the larger doors.

“Welcome home, Ram,” greeted the butler who had answered the door.

“Thanks, James. Are mom and dad out?” asked Ram.

“Your mother is having a meeting and your father should be home soon,” answered James.

“Thanks.” Ram then turned to his friends, “Come on guys. Let’s leave our bags in my room and we can head over to the NetBattle machine.” Knowing how easy it was to get lost in their rich friend’s mansion, Patch, Link, Caesar, Kyra, and Sarah stuck as close to him as possible. After a three-minutes, they arrived at Ram’s room.

“Tell me something, Ram. Do you let your house staff clean your room or do you do it yourself?” asked Kyra.

“I clean it myself,” answered Ram, “Now come with me. I know a shortcut.” He walked over to the other side of his room where a basketball hoop stood. Grabbing his ball off its rack on the wall, he threw it up and hit the backside of the board, which triggered his bookcase to slide to the side, revealing a pole.

“Follow me.” Ram placed his ball back in its proper place and slide down the pole with everyone else following. It didn’t take long for them to arrive back on the first floor and they headed over to a room marked “NetBattle Training Facility”. The lights came on upon entry, revealing all the advanced training gear in the room. No one was too surprised since they came to this room often whenever they came over to Ram’s house.

“So where is this new machine?” asked Caesar.

“Right here.” Everyone looked toward Ram and saw him standing on a white circular platform split into eight parts with a cylindrical machine in the middle, “Just jack in and I’ll explain the rest.” The twins took out their PETs and synchronously swung them left and right before raising them over their heads in both hands and pointing them at the jack-in sensors.

“Jack in!! Rock, power up!”

“Jack in!! Vent, power up!”

Caesar tossed his PET into the air and caught it before holding it forward, “Jack in!! Rap, power up!”

Sarah held her PET in one hand and spun around on one foot before taking aim, “Jack in!! Glacia, power up!”

Kyra brought up her PET beside her in both hands before bringing it to her side and over her head and finally placing it in front of her, “Jack in!! Solo, power up!”

Once everyone had jacked in, Ram took his PET out and flashed a grin as he held it in his right hand. He crossed his arms and then uncrossed them before finally taking aim at the jack-in sensor, “Jack in!! Shift, power up!”

Six beams of light shot down into the system and deposited the six friends’ NetNavis. Kyra’s Navi Solo wore a grey bodysuit and red torso armor bearing the Chaud family icon on his chest. He wore a pair of red gloves with expandable shields stored on each one and a pair of red gloves. His helmet was also red save for the white along the front. A black visor covered his eyes and he wore a yellow scarf around his neck. Three short locks of brown hair could be seen sticking out from under his helmet. Ram’s NetNavi Shift was designed similar to Axl. His bodysuit was a deep crimson and his armor, gloves, and boots were grey with blue stripes along them. A pair of silver wings protruded upward from his back. He wore a silver and red helmet with a bright orange gem in the center of his forehead, white crests on the sides, and a transparent yellow visor covered his emerald-green eyes. Long white hair stuck out from under his helmet and stopped just past the middle of his back. In the center of his chest and on his helmet’s ear guards was his icon, which was triangle that had been crossed out by an unsymmetrical X. A gun was strapped to his right boot and another to his back.

“Hey, everyone!” Vent greeted.

“So Ram, how does this thing work?” asked Kyra.

“Watch and learn.” Ram finished typing in some commands into the machine and stepped back onto one of the platform segments. Almost immediately, the panel lit up and his body was surrounded by a transparent hologram of his NetNavi.

“Cool!” Patch exclaimed.

“Everyone, take your places,” instructed Ram. Everyone mimicked what Ram had done and soon all of them were surrounded by holograms of their Navis.

“So Ram, how does this machine work?” asked Sarah.

“You guys have heard of Full Synchro, right?” Ram asked in return, “Well, it works in a similar fashion, except you don’t get hurt when your Navi receives damage. But you do get to control your Navi’s movements. Now that that’s out of the way, who’s going to battle first?”

“There’s six of us, so let’s have three simultaneous battles,” Caesar suggested.

“Then I’ll just set up the randomizer and we can begin.” Ram typed in another command and the panels suddenly started flashing different colors. Three seconds later, they stopped and everyone looked down. Patch’s and Caesar’s panels were green, Link’s and Kyra’s were red, and Ram’s and Sarah’s were blue. The Navis were then split into pairs according to colors their operators had received and placed in three separate battle arenas.

“So, you guys all ready?” asked Ram.

“Ready!” was the response.

“Then let’s do it!”

“Battle routine, set!”

“Execute!” the Navis shouted at once.

“Looks like it’s you and me, Rock,” said Rap as he and his opponent circled their arena.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better opponent,” Rock rebutted. He morphed his right hand into his buster and took aim. The rings around Rap’s shoulders detached themselves from his armor and slid down his arms, now serving as a pair of silver chakram. The green Navi caught them and spun them on his fingers.

“Rock Buster!” Rock let loose several green bursts of plasma from his weapon at his opponent. Rap quickly leapt into the air and threw one of his chakram. Rock quickly dashed to the side to avoid it and the ring bounced off the floor and returned to its owner.

Meanwhile, the battle between Solo and Vent had just begun.

“Solo Shield!” The scarf-wearing Navi expanded the shield on his left arm as he morphed his right hand into his buster and started launching laserfire. Vent held out his own buster and started intercepting the shots.

“Shield Ram!” Solo suddenly dashed forward and slammed his shield against his opponent. Vent was knocked back, but he flipped around and landed with his feet against the arena wall. He looked toward his opponent and pushed himself off with his feet. Solo quickly put away his buster, reached into his shield, and pulled out a red beam saber. He jumped back as Vent struck the floor and started firing away.

In the third arena, the battle had already intensified. Glacia was creating paths of ice for her to skate upon as she fired one ice blast after another at Shift, who was flying fast around the battleground.

“You’ll have to do better than that!” taunted Shift.

“I will!” replied Glacia, “Ice Blaster!” She pointed her weapon in front of her opponent’s path and fired, creating a wall of ice.

“Is that it?” Shift quickly changed into an orange and yellow color scheme and his hands started to burn, “Heat Burner!” He slammed a fist into the ice wall and melted his way right through it. He bounced off the floor and switched back to his original color scheme before pulling out his guns and firing at his opponent.

* * *

“Hey Ram, how are we supposed to use Battlechips?” asked Caesar.

“Just slot them in like you usually do,” answered Ram.

“Thanks.” Caesar took out a chip from his folder and slotted it into his PET, “ZapRing3 Battlechip in, download!”

* * *

In the green arena, Rap dodged another attack and stuck one of his chakram into the wall and stood on it while holding the other in his hand. His second weapon began to spark with electricity as he looked down at his opponent.

“Here’s a shocker for ya!” He threw his weapon at Rock before jumping down and pulling his other chakram out of the wall. Rock ducked under the electrified ring, but it quickly arced back around and struck him from behind, temporarily stunning him. Rap immediately took the chance to run up to him and slash him with his other weapon, but Patch was not prepared to let that happen.

“Barrier Battlechip in, download!” At the last second, a barrier surrounded Rock and blasted Rap away. The green Navi caught his first chakram, its electrical power now completely used up, and spun them on his hands again.

“Time to kick things up a notch,” Patch said cockily as he scrolled through his PET’s battle options, “Here we go, Rock! Roll Cross!” A blast of pink light swallowed up Rock and he underwent a transformation. All of his armor turned pink and a bow appeared on his right arm and a pair of yellow whips similar to his antennae appeared on his left. When he emerged, he faced Rap and lashed out with his whips. The green NetNavi jumped back to avoid them, but their length seemed infinite. When he couldn’t back any further, he swung his chakram in an effort to fight them off.

“Yo, Rap! Up here!” Rap looked up and saw Rock come down on him from above. The whips had only been a distraction!

“Nice going, Rock! Now Proto Cross!” Rock underwent another transformation and he emerged in a black and purple bodysuit with a red vest, two horns to replace his antennae, sleek red boots, and two arm-mounted swords. He sliced down on Rap and logged him out.

Shift’s body took on a red and grey color scheme and he held out his hands toward Glacia.

“Magnet Missile!” A large magnet formed in front of him and it shot toward Glacia.

“Why do you keep doing that, Ram?” asked Sarah.

“It’s not me,” Ram replied, “Shift’s battle style is to use the powers of different NetNavis.” He slotted in an ElecSword as his Navi changed yet again, this time to a grey and yellow scheme.

“Lightning Blast!” Bolts of lightning rained down from above on Glacia, who was trying to get away. Shift took her attempts to get away as a chance to attack and he flew in. But suddenly, Sarah slotted in an IceCube chip and a large block of ice appeared, causing Shift to slam into it face-first. He fell to the floor and changed back to his original color scheme.

“Ice Blaster!” Glacia fired more ice blasts and froze Shift’s feet to the floor.

“We’ve got you now!” Sarah grinned.

“You think so?” Ram smirked. Shift grabbed the gun off his back and shot his feet free. He quickly leapt back up and jumped into the air while firing at Glacia. But after ten shots, his gun started to click. He immediately drew his second gun and resumed firing as he reloaded his first weapon, which, by the time was completed, his second gun had run out of ammunition. He slid up along the wall and stopped to finish reloading before leaping off and shooting down at Glacia. Who created a shield of ice on her arm to block the shots. The two headed straight for each other and collided. The Navis fell to the floor, but they quickly got up and pointed their weapons at each other only to realize that they were within point-blank range of one another.

“Wanna call it a draw?” asked Shift.

“Sure,” Glacia agreed. The two of them put away their weapons and congratulated each other.

Regardless of whether he was using a blaster or a sword, Solo’s skills were near unmatched. He had had the upper hand throughout the entire NetBattle and all Vent could do was attempt to shoot him and evade all counterattacks.

“Link, I need some help here!” he called to his operator.

“Sorry Vent, but Solo’s managed to block and deflect every single chip I’ve used,” Link replied apologetically.

“Why about the Unison Styles?” Vent reminded.

“Oh yeah!” The Navi shook his head as his operator quickly opened his battle options menu, “Here we go, Vent! FZ Style!” A column of red light erupted around Vent and he soon emerged in red armor with a matching helmet that had two yellow horns and was armed with two enormous blasters.

“Have a taste of some raw firepower, Solo!” Vent opened up his blasters and unleashed a massive barrage. Solo blocked with his shield, but the impact pushed him back several times. He quickly abandoned his defensive position and dashed around the arena rapidly.

“Not so fast,” said Link, “HZ Style!” A green column of energy erupted up from under Vent and he emerged in green armor with two large wings and a pair of beam swords in his hands. He flew after Solo and swung his blades, but his opponent turned around and blocked. The two engaged in a fast-paced sword duel with no sign of either one giving in. When Link declared PZ Style, Vent changed into black armor with a mask covering his face, a red scarf around his neck, and two katar-like weapons on his arms. He leapt high into the air and swung his arms, conjuring up several kunai out of the energy from his katars and launching them at his opponent. Solo shot them down with his blaster and backed away.

“Program Advance!” declared Kyra, “WideBlade, LongBlade, ProtoManSP Battlechips in, download!”

“Double Hero!” ProtoMan appeared beside Solo and together they unleashed a powerful barrage of sword slashes and blaster shots on Vent until he was forced to log out. With all three battles over, the holograms around the operators vanished and the panels dimmed out.

“That was awesome!” shouted Patch.

“We have to do this again sometime!” exclaimed Caesar.

“Maybe next time,” Ram promised his friends.

After having some fun at Ram’s place, the twins quickly returned home. After two hours of doing their homework, their mother called them down to dinner. When the boys got downstairs, their father had just come in the door and they immediately pounced him.

“Welcome home, dad!” they greeted simultaneously.

“Hey! How are my two little champs doing? Did you stay out of trouble at school?”

“Sure did!” the boys said simultaneously.

“Except Patch locked me out of the boys’ locker room in my underwear,” Link added.

“Again?” Lan asked disbelievingly.

“I’ve already punished him with no TV for a week,” Maylu informed her husband as she came out of the kitchen and received a kiss from him, “How was your day, honey?”

“Tiring,” answered Lan.

“Don’t think that means you’ll get out of doing the dishes tonight.”

“Don’t worry about that, Maylu. A good hot meal should get my energy back.”

After dinner, the boys headed back to their room to finish their homework. Maylu came up a little bit later with some watermelon for their dessert. As usual, Link finished first and he grabbed his pyjamas before heading to the bathroom. As usual, Patch brought his work over to his brother’s desk and copied his twin’s homework and returned to his own desk before Link got back. Then when Link returned, Patch grabs a T-shirt and a pair of lounge pants before heading to the bathroom to shower. When they finished, they brought their plates and watermelon rinds downstairs to the kitchen and sat down in front of the living room TV together. From the wall panel, both Rock and Vent watched their operators.

“Despite their differences,” Rock began.

“Those two really love each other,” finished Vent.

At ten o’clock, Maylu came over to the boys and told them to get ready for bed. Patch and Link turned off the TV and walked back upstairs to their bathroom. After brushing their teeth, they returned to their room. Patch closed the blinds and untangled his sheets and covers before stripping off his clothes and leaving them on the floor before climbing into bed. On the other side of the room, Link closed the door and got into his neatly-made bed.

“You know, Patch, today was a really interesting day,” Link said thoughtfully.

“Yeah, you could say that,” Patch replied as he sat up, “Except for that test.”

“You know Patch, if you just put a little more effort into your schoolwork, you could do really well.”

“But school just really isn’t my thing. I’m more of a hands-on person.”

“Well then, find some hands-on ways to learn. You can do it.”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” Patch admitted, “And maybe I can teach you not to be such a dork.”

“Yeah,” said Link before realization suddenly hit him, “Hey!” Patch laughed and pulled his covers over himself as he laid back down.

“Good night, Link.”

“Good night, Patch.”

The boys turned off the lights and slowly drifted off to sleep, not knowing what tomorrow had in store for them.

THE END

Looks like you've got some things done while you're on vacation. I've got to say that you've managed to put things up right before the end of your long fic project. The way that you've put things in the future for the characters of the Rockman Exe series, anime and game. The characters that you've made for this preview is a good way to start up things. I mean, it's good that you've started thinking ahead of the series.

Now, for the review. What made me laugh is the fact that you've managed to put the twins of this fic like a future version of both Lan and Hub. Not to mention the way that you've managed to put up the way that their friends act and how they live life. Well, how are you doing with your life? How's the weather doing for you? Well, that's all that I've got to say for this story. I hope that you've put up that final part of the College Years.

Trust me, it got me to developing my own huge crossover fic. But like most of my projects, I have to continue working on it and test to see if it's ready to go. Right now, I've got to work on three fics that would follow it up. The real worry on my mind is whether or not people might like it. Well, later!

Noting here that I edited a spoiler warning to the title. This is small enough to not constitute a warning this time, but please watch out for that in the future. Remember, if you're unsure if it's a spoiler (which the end of EXE6 is) or not (everything before that), please add a spoiler warning to be safe. Thank you.

I think you've been watching to much Disney. Link and Patch, to me are exact copys of Zach and Cody from The Suite Life. In fact. The crack about the ten minutes almost confirms it. Patch's attitude towards women fully confirms it. Before I start, please, for the love of all things holy if you continue this, don't make Patch and Link Zach and Cody copycats.

About the characters Caesar. First off Caesar. Wow, I think you really messed up Dex's Genetics. Unless you reveal that Dex married a Jamaican, I think you would be better off sticking him with a Netopia heritage, because Dex isn't at all Jamaican in appearance, or personality.

Now about Ram. Okay, a Yaito for the group, that seems okay. My only grip is the name. Yaito and Shun, both don't have computer names, so naming there son Ram just seems odd. And plus, can't you think of something more...normal than Ram?

Now Patch. Oh god Patch. We saw him for only several lines, but oh god you mutilated him. You've turned him into some pathetic Zach ripoff, who is a pathetic prankster and trying to be a soul brother. Reading his lines, it made me want to stop reading, review only him, and tell you to stop, and not even try to make a second chapter of this. My only suggestion, rewrite his whole character. Make him a bit like Lan, but add some ORIGINAL characteristics, ones that are not ripped from Zach.

Now Link. I think you would have been better making a younger brother, that isn't a twin, but authors don't have to follow canon. I can't really comment...but he is WAY to much like Cody. He seems to be to much of a wuss, to be the kin of one of the Worlds biggest heros. My suggestion. Give him a personality like Mayl or Hub, combined with some ORIGINAL characteristics ones that, in turn, are not ripped from Cody.

About Patch's Net Navi. Come on, Rock? you would have been so much better like giving Patch Aile, seeing as how you gave Link Vent. Doing that could open up many jokes about how Lan gave Patch the female navi, to scold him for slacking off when Mayl isn't around. Also... In my opnion from a design stand point, Rock is....tacky, for lack of a better phrase.

This does hold some promise...but please, before you make another chapter, do not use Zach and Cody as a base for Patch and Link. It just doesn't work to well. Think for a while, and please make up some original characteristics for them.

Sorry, I meant to add the spoilers note to the title, but forgot.

Note to mods: Please add the contents of this post to the previous post.

And Elementalman, I won't deny that I used the Sprouse Twins for inspiration. But I can definitely do some personality tweaking.

And yes, Dex did marry an African-American woman.

All right, I'm going to say this as nicely as I possibly can.

It is blatantly obvious to ANYONE who has seen 'Suite Life of Zack and Cody' that you took Patch and Link's personalities, dialogue and habits straight from the protagonists of the show. Now, what I learned in high school is that if you plagurize (and yes, I think this counts as plagurizing) you fail the class and possibly get suspended from the school. Why? Because it's a big deal. Taking other people's work and ideas is a big deal.

Now, this wouldn't be half as bad if it wasn't obvious that you took ideas, dialogue, characters and what have you from other shows as well like, Futurama, Gash Bell and Naruto. Please, you write REALLY well. Your grasp of sentence structure and placement is really good but these ideas are not your own!

I would like to see you take this idea and make it your own. Bring in your OWN characters, your OWN personalities. Why do they have to be twins? Even, why do they have to be identical? Maybe they're faternal and don't look like each other or one's a boy and one's a girl. I don't know, there's hundreds of things you can do.

Please, use your own material. If you are smart enough to have such an amazing grip on grammar and sentence structure then you can sure as hell make up your own ideas. Plagurizing IS BAD. I know that because it's a fic it's hard to say 'well this came from here' because your ideas are taken from show but SO WHAT? That's just hiding behind a wall. I know you took that from Suite Life and YOU know you did so why try to hide it? In art it's bad to copy other pictures so why is it any better to take ideas? Hm?

I'd like to see some originality. I think you have potential, your College Years fic didn't start of bad. I remember reading that thing and loving it to pieces but now... it's like there's no you in it. I watch Suite Life, the jokes belong there. I want to read AMZ's stuff not whoever writes Naruto, Yu Gi Oh or whatever.

While I agree with the people before about plagiarizing, and the whole Suite Life thing, I do see promise in some of the characters you've created for this. The navis were really interesting, though I agree about using Aile over Rock (it just seems like she'd go with Vent naturally). Yaito and Dekao's kids turned out pretty cool, and I see potential in them. Keep up the work, but take into account what others before me have said- we all know you can do better. You're a great writer!
