(For the record, since Vent and Aile were never said to be siblings, I'm going to assume they're not. You'll see why I said this later, and no, that does not mean I'm doing a Vent x Aile fic. This is more of a comedy fic than anything, and I will be alternating chapters between this and Requiem. Hope you enjoy, and as with any of my fics reviews would be appreciated.)
"Thank you for calling the Giro Express transporters! We can take anything, anywhere!"
Girouette sat there in his chair. His left hand was using a spoon to stir what looked like coffee in his mug, as he laid back. His glasses were on the table, folded up, as he enjoyed the relaxing morning. His right hand held a small communications device that looked like a simple cell phone from ages ago.
"Um... hi, this is Vent..." A boy's voice sounded over the phone.
Girouette paused for a second, trying to recall the kid's name as he closed his eyes. They opened a moment later as he remembered. "Oh, right, the interview is today, huh?" He sat up forward, the chair rolling back a little as he took a quick sip of his coffee. "Alright then, meet me in front of the arcade at C-2 in about an hour, is that alright?"
"Yes, sir, thank you!" The voice responded.
"See you there." Giro replied as he put the cheap device away. Stretching, he got out of the chair, drinking a little bit more of his coffee as he walked outside, blonde hair swaying to and fro. The door hissed quickly as it opened, exposing the beautiful Area C before him. Deciding to leave his motorcycle alone and take a walk, he headed down the street.
-------------
"So... you're fourteen?" Giro said with a little bit of disbelief.
The kid laughed a little nervously, rubbing the back of his head... he had on a simple white shirt and a pair of blue cargo jeans on. The two of them were on a couple of facing benches, as civilians went on with their usual lives around here. Giro's mug was sitting right next to Giro, now empty. "Yeah." He blurted out.
Girouette sighed. "So... why do you want to work so early? I thought you had school."
"I'm taking a quick course session, so my school day usually ends by about noon." Vent replied. "It's not like this job will be taking up all of my time anyways."
Giro chortled for a moment, as he leaned forward, resting his arms on his legs. "Well, all I have to say is it won't be all that easy. You sure?"
"Of course!" Vent said enthusiastically. It was almost as if his green eyes lit up a little while he said that. "Like you said, we can take anything, anywhere!"
Giro nodded. "Good. You're hired, we'll start you off with 70 EC's per job. Meet me at D-1 at 5 PM... the dress code is blue shirt and shoes and khaki pants, so be dressed appropriately." He stood up, as the two shook hands.
"Thank you, sir." Vent said with a smile, as he left. Giro went his way too, but turned around for a moment, in time to see Vent jump for joy a little bit.
"He's pretty enthusiastic, huh?" A male voice said.
"Yeah, hopefully this'll go well, Z." Giro replied, as he looked around. "Any news from the commander?"
"Other than a hi, no." Model Z spoke up from Giro's pocket.
"Alright then, give her a hi back." Giro said, smiling. "Hold on." Pulling out the old phone again, he dialed a frequency.
A moment later, a girl picked up. "Hello?"
"Aile, it's me. We've got a new employee, so we're gonna head to D-1 at about 4:30 instead of 5, alright?"
"Cool! Alright, I'll see you then!" She exclaimed, as the two of them hung up. Looking at his empty coffee cup, Giro shrugged, heading home to drop it off as a peaceful wind blew.
Who knew that there would be so much chaos in the days to come. |

This is an interesting take on ZX, but I noticed something that made this seem AU.[spoil:b448c1f8bc]Giro took in both Vent and Aile as orphans, as well as other kids, so they would be more like apprentice students picked out of several kids. So they would know each other a little better than that. At least, that's what I captured from the text within the game.[/spoil:b448c1f8bc] Putting that aside, this was very good. You captured Giro and Vent's personalities well, and did a good job setting up the story. It was a little short, but it was good, Raeone. I look forward to reading more of this. _________________

Ah, alright then, if someone could edit my title to include AU that'd be great.
Things are a little tweaked in my story, Giro does wind up being an older brother/father to the two of them, but in this story he doesn't really live with them or anything... an unofficial adoptive parent, so to speak, which will explain why he and Aile are so informal. However, the two have their own homes in this.
You'll see, I'll explore more on this in the future parts of this chapter. |

Alright, sorry for the huge delay, but after a Grande Mocha from Starshmucks and a rough day at work yesterday I got the inspiration to write part 2 of chapter 1. So, here we go.
-------------------------
"...Aile."
Giro was standing in front of the warehouse around the border of C and D. In front of him was Aile, leaning on her motorcycle. Giro seemed to be getting mad.
"Yeah, totally... I heard they're playing at Lou's place tonight..." She said, unaware Giro was nearby. It was obvious she was on the phone, probably wired into her headset, since there was no one near her other than Giro.
"Aile!" Giro said loudly. His eyes narrowed as he looked at the girl in anger. A boy began approaching from a distance.
Unfortunately Aile was still paying absolutely no attention. "...oh, so the lead singer is sick? Sore throat? That sucks..."
"DAMN IT, AILE! GET OFF OF THE PHONE!!!" Giro finally yelled with his eyes closed.
The yelling definitely got Aile's attention. "WAAH!!!" She was startled into falling over backward, the bike not being able to support her thrown weight as it toppled over. There was a cardboard box on top of the back of the bike which was incidentally launched in the process, hitting the dog nearby as it yelped for a moment, then turned around and began barking loudly at the "evil box" that tried to "attack" it. Giro brought his hand up to his face, shaking his head in embarrassment.
"Uh..." Vent said as he walked forward in an identical outfit to Giro's, minus the blueness of the shirt. "Is she alright?"
"What do you thi-" Giro began until he turned around, noticing it was Vent.
Smooth. Model Z mumbled to him, sitting in his pocket like usual.
Shut the hell up. Giro replied mentally, smiling embarrassedly as he shook Vent's hand. "Sorry about that, hi Vent." He turned around, noticing Aile dusting herself off. "Vent, I'd like to introduce you to one of our top transporters, Aile."
Aile blinked, as she looked at Vent. She tilted her head for a second, confusing Vent, until her eyes seemingly brightened. She pointed a finger at him. "Ohmigosh, you're Vent! I know you from the orphanage!"
Suddenly the memory hit Vent like a brick too. "Aile! Hi!!" He said happily, waving.
Of course, this was ended cruelly by a right hook to the cheek.
As Vent stumbled back by the punch, Aile became irate seemingly out of nowhere. "Where the heck have you been?! You never return my calls, you never return my text messages, nothing! You had me worried sick, darn it, where the hell did you go?!"
Vent rubbed the back of his head, giving off an ashamed chuckle. "This is going to sound silly, but my comm link was broken for a while..."
Aile pouted. "So you never returned anything? At all?"
Vent blinked. "No, it was broken for like four months, I didn't have the money to go get it fixed."
Giro looked at the two. Frustration was becoming apparent. Okay, now this is just wasting time...
"Oh..." Aile looked at him... looks like she was the embarrassed one this time. "Sorry about that..." She said, looking down for a moment.
"Nah, it's alright... how've you been?" Vent replied.
"She's been good, okay, conversation's done." Giro said as he figuratively jumped in, walking over while giving a fake smile. "Guys, we gotta get a move on."
Aile turned to Giro for a moment, then brightened as a lightbulb went on in her head. "Oh, right..." She turned to Vent. "We've got some packages that need to be shipped to O-3, c'mon, I'll show you how easy this is."
Vent nodded. "If you say so... but how are we getting there?"
Giro dug into his left pocket, flinging out a pair of linked keys at Vent who caught them with ease. "You'll be using bike number three. It's in the garage."
Vent nodded. Whoa, a motorcycle?! AWESOME!! He thought happily as he took off for the garage. As soon as Vent had left, Giro let out a sigh to exhaustion, as he looked at Aile.
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" He asked her with a chuckle.
Aile merely shrugged as she looked at him for a second, then turned. Both of their faces went pale as Vent shot out of the garage like a madman, on his bike, probably darting off at somewhere around 85 MPH as he shot off down the road.
"HOLY CRAP GET ME OFF THIS THING!!!" Vent shouted as his voice trailed off into the distance, much like he did himself.
Giro and Aile's heads sunk for a moment, sweatdropping in perfect anime style. "Oh no..." Aile mumbled. |

Nice work, Rae! You used good imagery, and set up some funny moments nicely- the complexity of the "box-scene" was noticed, and you handled it well. I like the way you're portraying the characters (especially Aile), and thought Giro's inner monologue with Z was a nice touch.
Keep up the good work! _________________

You set up Aile and Vent's relationship nicely, and I liked the rapport between the three of them. Aile's emotion-filled behavior was set up well, and she made me laugh. I liked the "box scene" too! _________________ The stars are projectors, man. Projecting our lives down to this planet Earth.

Nice, nice. I like the way you portray the characters. Can't really say anything bad cause I don't have a DS or access to the game. |
