Help with an article for 1UP.com!

'Ey all! I know I haven't posted here in a while (or posted anywhere for that matter ), but I was hoping to solicit some help for an article I'm working on (I cleared this post with Ryo!).

I know quite a few of the posters here are young teenagers, which is pretty much the audience I'm looking for--and younger. The article is about perceptions of mascots, and how they've changed over the years.

But I'm looking more for the "Hows" than the "Whys" (though you're free to express those, too. Any dialogue goes).

Like, for example, Mario. When I was young, he was from Brooklyn / a silent hero. Nowadays, "It's a-me, Mario!" is more recognisable than "Jingle Bells."

So all you really have to do is talk about game mascots. The ones you like, the ones you don't like. What do you think of when you think of Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, etc? Use word association if you want. That's totally fun.

If older members want to give their opinions on how they think things've changed, that's cool too.

If you are younger, please be aware I'll need a first name for the article, and a vague location. Please clear this with your parents if you're not sure how they'd feel. Send me a PM if you're more comfortable with that instead of a straight reply.

hmm...well of course i like megaman, sonic, and mario. but with games like shadow the hedgehog, i think people look a little differently at sonic. like maybe he's getting boring? the original megaman mascot reminds people of old-school side-scrolling goodness. megaman x reminds people of the action and glorious boss battles. megaman zero reminds people of the difficulty! and also, if you managed to beat a game, you had to have some skill so it's like an achievement thing. megaman battle network reminds me of technology and it's advancements. what you said about mario holds true for me too. hem...my location is the capital of rhode island!
