Maybe a little mini-debate would work. Was it for the best? What's your opinion? Any facts you can present would be useful.

Maybe I'm behind the times, but didn't Germany unify in 1990?
EDIT: I didn't read the date you typed at the beginning of your post... I wasn't aware that you were referring to the uniting of 39 previously independent states.
As I know very little about Germany and it's history, I'm bowing out of this discussion.

No, there was a unification pre-WWI. I'm trying to figure out the pros and cons for a debate.
