About the movie... **intro spoilers**

On certain versions of the movie (if it's all or few, I don't know), but in the beginning, there's a Star Wars spoof/tribute/WHATEVER... that happens to be occuring in the microscopic space of some old man's orange and black striped boxers. Said old man is picking his nose... right before he gets crushed by his garage door (?).

What on EARTH was that about?!

I think they're some kind of Shogakugan mascots or something. (Shogakugan being one of the companies that makes the EXE/Ryusei anime.) Just a little animation before the movie; nothing important.

Well, yeah... but I've seen the same old guy around. If you check the Ryuusei topic and look at the full image where Rockman no Ryuusei first appeared alongside the new Pokemon guy (named Kouki) that pissed a lot of people off (like you needed to know that), there's the same guy! I don't think that's solely Shogakukan.

He's Shogakukan, alright.
The Pokemon comics are also released by Shogakukan, I believe, so it isn't really surprising to see him in crossovers by the same publisher.
