A remake of the Full Metal Alchemist anime will air in April within glorious Nipponland. It's supposedly going to follow the manga closely. Which means that CERTAIN main characters won't even exist in this version.
I'm sure it'll be coming overseas as well.

Nice. I really didn't care for the direction the anime took. _________________ Red Green's words of wisdom:

I plan on watching this as well. The trailers look pretty good so far, and I'm curious whether this Isaac character that's in the trailers has anything to do with the Isaac Squad that was mentioned to have vanished in the manga. I'm wondering whether the series will be longer than 50 episodes though, since it's being produced by a brand new sub-studio of BONES rather than the main studio itself.
Yep, the Spring anime season is looking good so far; Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Dragonball Kai, East of Eden, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Rei, and Shin Mazingar are on my lookout list. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

Well, the first episode has aired. For those curious, it's an introductory episode that takes place right before the brothers head for Lior, and it focuses on a rouge State Alchemist named Isaac McDougall who tries put Central in a deep freeze because of the things the government did in Ishval, using several concepts from the manga in the process. It operates on the assumption that everyone watching is already familiar with the characters, since it throws a bunch of them at you with little to no introduction as to how the Elric brothers know them. It's still a very fun episode, and the art style is much closer to the manga's than the first series was, and it looks a lot better.
The opening's pretty nice too. It shows the Xerxes transmutation array, Hohenheim, and so forth. Lust, Gluttony, and Envy are showcased as the main villains, though Greed briefly appears, and Bradley is shown in an ominous light. The ending is pretty cute and is rendered in the style of a child's chalk drawing.
It's funny; I recognized Plantman's seiyuu as Kimblee (he gets a cameo), and Burnerman's as Roy. And Hughes is, as in the first series, voiced by Meijin's seiyuu.
So yeah, if anyone's considering watching this, I'd recommend it. It looks pretty good so far. It look like the next episode will be about Ed and Al trying to bring back their mother, and after that the anime'll pick up from Lior and go on from there. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

.... Roy is now voiced by Shinichiro Miki? Oh God. XD He's one of my most favourite seiyuus by far.
I'm waiting for the official subbed version to become available on Friday through Animax Asia. Can't wait! _________________ "Cats are interesting. They're kind of like girls. When they come talk to you, it's great. When you go talk to them, it doesn't go so well." - Miyamoto

I've watched this as well. As a person who never watched the original, I've had many people urge me to watch the series. So far, it seems relatively impressive, and it doesn't seem to have that aura about it that other programs in its genre have. I am intrigued by the two characters, and it seems that the next episode will serve as the first major backstory arc, which is something that a new immigrant to this series will need.
It's on my watch list this spring, and I am eager to see how this will go. _________________ Today, these three players are after Big Bucks! Episode 3 made me laugh. Since Ed beating up an old man doesn't exactly make for a climatic finisher, they went the hilarious CORNELLO SMASH!!! route. I was also pretty proud of myself when I recognized Rose's new seiyuu by voice without having to look it up. Satsuki Yukino, in case you were wondering.
The pacing's been pretty speedy, since next week will be the stuff with Shou Tucker. I guess they want to get the material they already covered in the first series out of the way. I wonder what they intend to do about Yoki though, since they kinda just skipped him over.
I find it interesting how the art is trying to evoke Arakawa's paint illustrations with the crispness of its coloring.
And because it needs to be posted: CORNELLO SMASH!!! _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

Lot's of "remakes" these days...
FMA
Hellsing
DBZ Kai
I don't mind remakes, as long as they aren't a 50%+ copy of the previous series. |

Spoiler? :O Salem is Pride~~
I guess in exchange for certain main characters that won't show up anymore, we'll get new main characters that would! Like the spoiler above~
Great BONES quality. Animation is of a very high quality and detailed to make it so much more enjoyable to watch. 8D
Ed's hair isn't lined with black anymore. it's a nice dark gold colour. XD |

Mustang is way cooler in the manga, I hope they can recreate him in Brotherhood to be more violent than his anime counterpart. _________________

Well, Brotherhood just got to the manga material, though they're still blitzing through it, as the preview for next week already shows Ed fighting Greed. Kind of a shame. The original Greed left us too soon, but the animation for their fight, or at least the clip in the preview, looks superb. I think we should be in manga-exclusive territory by episode 15, as that's when the new OP starts. _________________ ' I don't care if the buzz isn't real- I can roleplay being drunk!'

Sorry for the bump, but I figured since there was already a thread...
I've recently gained an interest in watching brotherhood, and I know they're on Hulu, but I'd like to have... my own copies. >_>
But I can't seem to find a complete subbed set of the series. Anyone else have some juicy links? XD |
