I've always wondered this... and my mind would never rest until it comprehends it...
Why did Puku Anime skip Stream? Didn't it make more sense to start in order? No point watching it in Raws then Beast in subs, the thing will be messed up. Perhaps you were counting on Faqcorner? |

It was most likely the timing... Stream had been out for a while and most people had resorted to watching the raws and trying to figure out the storyline with limited Japanese skills. It makes more sense to invest time in subbing one not so many have seen first than doing one that people already got the gist of.
That's my guess, at least. |

As far as I know, WPP is still subbing Axess. I don't know if they plan on subbing Stream, however.
I think Puku started on Beast mainly because it was the most recent season out at the time and the one that was more interesting to the fanbase. _________________

Perhaps so. But that still does not make sense to me. I think it would make more sense to watch Stream first then watch the end of this amazing series. Even if they saw Stream already, it would be better to sub it first to maintain order, IMO. |

Perhaps. However, I think around that time the general consensus was that Stream was really boring compared to Beast and everyone wanted to see the latest one subbed first. XD; _________________

I can sorta clarify the timeline of things as to why. I'm almost totally sure Beast had already finished when Ryouko decided to start up Puku. It was at least almost over if not the case, and she probably would have known when it was going to end with the official episode summary/title release post. I recall the first sub came out when Beast+ was like 6 episodes into the season, and that was before I signed up for the project.
Like Sol said, as it was the most recent, and we all knew it was a definitively shorter series than Stream (25 vs. 51 episodes), the logic was it would be subbed quicker and be done with way before Stream would have been. And especially since the Puku members were all basically a rag-tag bunch who had never done fansubbing before, working on something the size of Beast and then Beast+ on the surface, and still now, seems like it was the best idea. No offense to Stream, as much as I liked that series while others see glaring negatives towards it's direction. But sometimes there are other factors to consider than just maintaining proper order.
Plus there weren't too many issues where you absolutely needed Stream backstory to understand what was going on when reading the Beast subs. For the most part, the season took on a storyline of it's own, where you could treat it as a separate entity.
Also, BTW, Faqcorner's attempt at Stream did not exist until like late 2007/08...Ryuusei was on, but I forget if it was late Season 1 or Tribe era. In any case, the couple of people who attempted doing Stream subs for that "group" weren't even on the scene when Puku started. They only tried their hand at it because it had been an even longer period since Stream was off the air, we had slowed considerably, nobody had really "claimed" the show, and there was some demand in the community like there still is. But they weren't even in the picture to answer that part of your query.
I only know they did a couple episodes, but the feedback was so bad I didn't watch any after the first release. I have no clue how far they even got, to tell you the truth. _________________ Avatar art thanks to toberboobap, animated gif thanks to Dr. Wily II
