Sometimes when life is boring and typical, you mayt want to find an escape where you get to experience something else. Although I admit I take things and people for granted, I often tell msyelf that there are people who have it worse than we do and that is the truth but if I had a hard life I don’t want people to have feel sorry for me when I am suffering. Of course, rarely anything in life is so clear cut and it may not always be that the people who live such situations such as a divorce, poverty or sickness may mecessarily be suffering in a spritual sense but soemtimes I often look at myself and feel as though that I shouldn’t be talking of my own sufferings when other people have proiblems worse than I have. What should I do about things like this? How can I deal with this?

Someone always has it worse than you.

That should never prevent you from voicing your own problems; nothing gets better unless it is made known.

You should talk to someone about the problems, even if it may be a bit embarassing because they may know the true way to cheer you up.
If that doesn't work, then maybe relax a little and then try something new to see if more variety will take your mind off whatever has been bothering you for a little while and then adress the issue.

Though you should always be concerned about others as well, you should by no means ignore what troubles you.

Find a friend or a parent, they will always be concerned with what ails you. If they aren't then get far far far away from them.

Are you try to sound profound? Because if you are, you're failing miserably at it.

Here are a few tips for your supposed problems:
1. Quit being emo and get used to your lot in life.
2. If you don't like your lot in life, then set some goals to achieve and don't be an idiot about it. (The problem you presented in your last whiny thread is a good example of "being an idiot about it.")
3. If you actually need guidance on something, a forum about a children's anime that was cancelled over a year ago is not the place to ask for it.

To put it more succinctly, stop playing adult - you're obviously not.

I read this and thought up something.

Follow the example of any other individualistic teenager (or in my case, a Neku wannabe): Ignore the opinions that others try to impose upon your views, create your own path and show no concern over others, numb yourself, and chastise people whose opinions annoy you.

Personally, I'm like this most of my time. I'm not sure about you.

I don't think you should be advising anyone to follow the example set by an "individualistic teenager", especially not if they're talking about actual life problems. "Become a pretend-numb douchebag" is not sound advice for any life situation, especially not when you're basing your decisions in life off of a character from a video game.

Also, if you're really a "Neku Wannabe", you'd not take so well to disregarding other people's advice or opinions, little man. Don't claim to emulate a character you do not apparently understand, regardless of how ankle-deep the character is.

I probably shouldn't be surprised by this at all, but I think you've missed the entire point of the character. Neku is "numb" and doesn't show concern for others/their opinions precisely so the character could learn the value of friendship and trust. This is simple character development. You're essentially trying to imitate a fairly shallow character archtype at its -lowest- point, before development sets in and they grow to the writer's ideal for the character. By being a "Neku wannabe" as you describe, you are trying to emulate a personality that exists solely to be changed.

I'm getting fairly redundant here, so to restate my point again, you are trying to be someone that the people that created the game want nobody to be, and are using a character that was created to show that such people can improve their lives to justify it. If you must draw inspiration for your own personality from a video game, I suggest that you play the game again. But this time, do it without the preconceived notion that you want to be an "individualist" jerk. Instead, try to apply the lessons taught throughout to improve your own life and relationships. I'm sure you'll realize not only that trying to be "cool" now will only be a detriment to your later life, but also that it was a silly mistake to have ever suggested that anyone else do the same.

Whoa, ooouuuchhh. You don't expect to hear brutal honesty on a forum about a children's anime that was canceled over a year ago.

Apparently, you understand. That I give my thanks to you. It's common that people don't understand me at first.

I see. I found it difficult to believe that someone who signs each and every post with

Quote:
I see this world so cruel...

I often wonder if I deserve being around men and women alike.

Though depressed and hurt inside, I still continue to live without a friend.

What a pitiful wreck I've become, ne? -SeijinKage

is being facetious in describing themselves as the exact person that would write such a thing to begin with, though I suppose it's my own fault for assuming people are what they project themselves to be.

...but to be honest, when you're making a backhanded suggestion to someone that is reaching out for guidance, it becomes rather clear that you're in need of it yourself.

Regardless, I apologize for misunderstanding you and your "joke"; at least now, instead of being worried about you, I can simply be disappointed in your awful sense of humor.

I saw this topic a lot eariler, but I put off doing anything about it until I could read every post in it.

I like some of the answers in this thread, barring some of Tachyon's points. Regardless of which forum it is in, you can always find some sort of guidance provided the members are fairly mature about it. Granted, I'm still of the opinion that airing something like personal problems is something that you shouldn't even consider in the first place.

That said, Cloud-kun nailed it. If you have a problem, talk to someone.

Anyway...another note. SeijinKage, for the love of everything, please change your signature. It's very hard to take you seriously whenever I read that every time you post.

This topic shall remain open unless I (or another admin) feel that it's getting out of hand. Play nice.

I also didn't get to this right away, and I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought Tachyon again was pushing it with his reply.

Regardless of our ages, nationalities, and other general differences, the fact is most people will go through hardships rather similar to our own. They might not strike at the same time in our lives, in the same feeling of over-abundance, or even have the same effect on each individual's mental well-being. But there will always be someone out there who will know exactly what you are going through.

Yes, you do have to be careful so that you don't come across as the "woe is me" type who appears to be asking for pure attention rather than help or guidance. But by no means should you just ignore your problems and continue to feel like you can't express them to others. Nor should you ignore people if you don't quite understand what they are going through. There will always be some type of common ground in life's problems.

It can kinda be an amazing thing, where by bringing up your issues to someone, you get them to open up about something they normally wouldn't. Sometimes you can form some type of connection or understanding that you didn't expect would ever happen. It doesn't always happen by any stretch of the imagination, but by being honest yourself, you might actually be helping somebody out who IS suffering more than you'd ever know. They aren't always visible, that's for sure.

Consider that done. The sig was made when I was depressed and looking at pictures of guro. Though, I must say, the quote I'm using is taken directly from a script for my soon-to-post series. If you also want to know, that character has just as twisted morbid humor like myself.

Unless your family is full of convicted serial killers holding a blade at your throat forcing you to act that way, it's not even a tenth of a viable excuse in any situation.

You are not your family, and do not blame them for your shortcomings.
