As apart of one of the players of Final Fantasy XI, I can say I've done a bit of digging for info on this, as it may lead to the abandonment of my time on my current character. So far it has been stated that it is not a sequel to FFXI, it most likely will cost a monthly fee but I'm only speculating upon that. It looks like they are taking a whole lot out that was annoying in FFXI as in making rare monsters that spawn once ever 24 hours if not more.
