Looking on the News 12 New Jersey channel, I saw a report about a video posted on Youtube. This video had a stolen statue of liberty replica being beheaded with a handsaw and an electric saw with a message in the middle saying, "WE DON'T WANT YOUR FREEDOM", and the video ending with, "DEATH TO AMERICA". If any of you have seen such a video or have an opinion about what I had described, you can post your comments here. _________________ As a Deviant, I work alone on my projects.

How is it insulting? They attacked a powerful image to get their point across.
They have the right to do that, like it or not. This is not an issue. End of story. _________________ *placeholder* |

Ok...To me that was an absurd act since there are much more refined ways of protesting....but as Saito said...*no pokey* |

>_> You guys...
I see how it is insulting to many. For a symbol of America to be defiled like that would hit too close to home for the extremely patriotic, but like Tachyon said, they have every right to do that. Like burning the flag, it's a form of speech. Like with white supremisists, we don't have any right to stop them.
But of course, it's not like we're innocent of doing such things either. A lot of our media constantly condemns and defames other countries and their leaders. Look at South Park. _________________

Were everyone to be prosecuted for every act that may insult another country/race/creed/culture, be it intentional or otherwise, the whole of North America, and several other continents, would be a gigantic prison.
Furthermore, this is certainly not a new thing; many people disagree with the stance America takes on "Freedom", and because of the Freedom they so dislike, they are permitted to speak how they wish of it. It's understandable, really, as with all things regardless of how good, the bad will be pointed out, exaggerated, and made into an ordeal.
Best not to ever be insulted by anti-patriotic movements; they're merely spitting on the land upon which you dwell, not your face. |
