Chapter 2

I don't know how many people really care but to hell with it I am posting chapter 2. Just so you don't have to read the entire thing to decide whether you want to read it I have set up chapter summaries before each chapter.

Summary

In this chapter Lan introduces the new character to Maylu. Lan then shows the character around the neighborhood. But when they meet Dex the character shows off his surpriseing netbattle ability. When the character joins the click Roll sees that the character is the boy to whom the PET belongs so Maylu cunsults Chaud.




Chapter 2


“So you’ve finally come to.” The boy said.
Maylu blushed and asked him.
“Who’re you?”
“I am Joseph Garabaldi, but you can call me Joe or Joey.” Joey told her.
“Joe and I were just getting to know each other, he is the new student in our class.” Lan told Maylu, “He is from Canada.”
“In Canada Advanced PETs are a new innovation, but you have had them for some time.” Joe observed.
“Ya they were made here.” Maylu told him, still blushing.
“Cool.” He said.
“So we’ll get going now, see you on Monday Maylu.” Lan told her and they both left the house.
“Where do you live?” Lan asked Joey.
“In that house over there.” He said and pointed at a house down the block.
“That means you’re my neighbor.” Lan said happily.
“You want to show me around the neighborhood?” Joey asked.
“Sure thing.” Lan replied.
They walked through the streets and scince the sun was setting, Lan decided to cut the tour short and go sraight to visit Dex.
“Hey Dex.” Lan said to him as they reached his house. Dex was gardening with Chisao and when he saw Lan and Joey he marvelled.
“Wow, has your dad made a cloning machine?” Dex asked Lan.
“Not quite Dex, this is Joe he is the new student in our class.” Lan told him.
“Pleased to meet you.” Joey said Politely and stuck out his hand for Dex to shake.
“Great fresh meat!” Dex said eyeing Joey’s green PET, “Wanna netbattle?”
“Do you greet everybody like this?” Joey asked him.
“Probably, why?” Dex asked with even no clue how obsessed he sounded.
“I accept,” Joey said ignoring Dex’s response. “Let us see how people in this country play the game.
They three of them walked into Dex’s room.
“Jack into the Gamecube.” Dex told him.
Joey agreed and did so, Dex also did and they began.
“Let us see how strong you are, Wind use the buster!” Joey told his net navi: Wind.
The navi was about the same stature of Megaman but had armored legs and a sight on the helmet; the navi was green except for the gray armlets he had on either arm.
Wind obeyed his operator, at once his armlets rose to his hands where they screwed into place and became busters.
“Rapid fire!” Wind yelled and began dousing Gutsman with hundreds of shots. Immediately he jacked out.
“Wow I thought it would be harder than that.” Joey told Dex.
“Don’t worry, Dex is a pushover if you want I can show you some first class battlers tomorrow.” Lan told him. As soon as Lan looked out the window he saw the sun was already set.
“We should get going, its dark out.” Lan told Joey.
“You are probably right.” Joey said and they both headed home.
The next day Joey got up and went to visit Lan.
“Hey Lan!” He said to Lan when he opened the door.
“Oh hi Joey.” Lan said, “we are all on the net, come join us.”
“Sure thing.” Joey said and Jacked onto Lan’s PC. Roll, Gutsman, Megaman, and Glyde were there. Wind entered the server they were on and introduced himself.
“Hello, to those of you that do not know me I am Wind; Joey’s personal net navi.”
The rest greeted him and began a conversation, but Roll saw Wind’s symbol. That was the symbol on the PET Maylu found. She jacked out and told Maylu who immediately went to find Chaud. He wasn’t at blazequest headquarters, or at Jomon. She checked everywhere nut he wasn’t anywhere to be found. She finally decided to head back when she passed Higsby’s chip shop. Chaud was inside checking with Higsby about the navi.
“Have you seen this navi before?” He asked holding up the holographic image. Maylu couldn’t see it but knew what it was.
“Yes, actually I saw that navi several years ago.” Higsby told him. “He was a big chip collector and was looking for some new ones from my store in Net City.”
“What did he buy?” Chaud asked.
“He put Super vulcan on chip order.” Higsby explained. “But never came back to claim it.”
Makes sense. Maylu thought. The advanced PETs were a new innovation in Canada so it makes sense that it would look new. But why? Maylu was perplexed, why did he drop the PET and why did he never pick up the really expensive battle chip.
“Thank you for your help.” Chaud said politely and turned around. The navi image was close to finished but the face was still missing. Maylu saw that and didn’t need the face to see that the navi wasn’t Wind. She was so in shock she almost forgot to talk to Chaud but she remembered.
“Chaud, I know who the operator is.” Maylu told him.
