7/6/2004 :: This week's episode of Axess #39 was entitled, "Go To Hell By Train?!" Beware, spoilers below. Unfortnately no clip this week, for some reason the video file I have keeps making the audio way off synch with the video every time I try. >.< Plus, my servers need a rest. WoodSoul will go up sometime later.
The episode begins with trains that have gone out of control, thanks to an invasion of viruses. They're all headed towards Densan Station, where they could collide and cause a huge disaster! Thankfully however, the Net Agent Saloma is on hand, as well as Woodman, to calm down the situation and delete the intruders.
Ironically enough, Netto and Chisao are on their way to a Neko (Cat) themed amusement park by train! Complete with neko ear headbands, the two are ready for a day of fun. A lady passing them on the train comments on how cute they look, which makes them realize the cat ears on their heads and become embarrassed. ^_^; (Apparantly they did not know they were wearing them o_o).
On the exterior of the train, a spark ignites, and the rear train departs from all the others, which just happens to be the one Netto and Chisao are on. As the train cabin slows down, it attaches itself to another train that comes up from behind. The jolt of re-attachment lets on that something strange is going on to all the passangers.
At the Train Control System station, Saloma is notified that another train has gone out of control! (Netto's train) The engineer attempts to switch the train from auto to manual, but nothing is effective. As the operators curse their luck, a familiar Darkloid appears on their monitors: it's Sparkman!
Sparkman's decided to play a fun game with the humans by taking complete control and causing chaos. Netto also sees Sparkman's announcement, and decides to take matters into his own hands. As Netto prepares to try and stop the Darkloid, he advises Chisao to stay put.
One of the operators at the Station tells Saloma a point where Netto's train will cross, so she can have a chance to plug-in Woodman. True enough, she catches the train just on time, and transmits her navi as it flies by on the tracks.
Inside the train's computer Area #6, Woodman is faced with a hoard of viruses, as expected. Thankfully for him though, they're all electrical type (wood is very strong against electricity). All of the viruses jump him at once, which seemingly causes a lot of pain to the large navi. However after a moment, Woodman straightens up, stretches his shoulders, smirks, then deletes all of the viruses at once. XD (this is the first time I've seen Woodman act non-serious, it's hilarious!)
After giving a hearty laugh at his victory, a portal opens in front of Woodman, allowing him to enter Area #5. Meanwhile, Netto reaches the entrance to the #5 train in the real world. As the doors open, a rush of frightened passangers flood their way out. Sitting in Area #1, Sparkman is notified of Woodman's advancement.
Inside the train, vending machines are spitting out cans of drinks everywhere! In the net, Woodman destroys the viruses corrupting the machines in Train #4. Saloma is becoming more confident, since all the viruses they are facing are electricity based. Netto finally arrives inside Train #4, and finds it empty of people, and a whole bunch of sodas and junk food littering the floor.
Still inside Area #4, Woodman is greeted by many fire towers! Inside the actual train, Netto is also met by the burners going out of control in the dining car. Seeing as he can't get past the flames, Netto plug-in's Rockman into the net.
Woodman is barely dodging the flames himself, realizing that he is at a disadvantage, since fire is very strong against wood. Woodman tries to fight back, but all his earth based attacks are absorbed by the fire. Sparkman watches with glee as the viruses begin to gang up on Woodman.
Eyecatch! Wind Soul! Prretty...
Woodman backs away as the viruses begin to approach, just as a familiar voice calls out, "Aqua Sword!". Rockman jumps in barely in time to delete the viruses threatening Woodman. Sparkman sees that another annoyance has joined with Woodman. Rockman and Woodman are happy to join forces once again. Saloma urges Netto to quickly head to the main train car so they can regain control.
Meanwhile, everyone is evacuating at Densan Station, if the worst happens and Netto's train crashes into it. Woodman and Rockman walk into Area #3 together, where Rockman quickly takes care of the viruses with his Rock Buster. As he finishes, the doors to Area and Train #2 open, allowing the passangers in that car to be released to freedom.
Inside Area #2, Woodman takes his turn and deletes all of the viruses contained within. As Netto arrives in the last car, he finds the door blockaded shut by furniture! The people trapped inside pound on the door windows, pleading to be set free.
Inside the net, Rockman and Woodman arrive in Area #1. However as they step forward, they find that Sparkman is not there! Woodman remarks that this was definately the place where the Darkloid was. Suddenly, a gate opens in front of the two, and a man dressed in the train engineer's outfit walks forth!
Rockman and Woodman are very confused by the appearance of this stranger. (This scene was all very strange, and I can't quite pick up enough to know exactly what is going on. I believe Sparkman is trying to confuse the navis into thinking he is a human, so that they will not attack, but I am not quite sure. If someone who understands more would like to e-mail me and correct this, please feel free to do so.)
After a few silent and awkward moments, the human suddenly attacks Woodman, and reveals himself to be Sparkman in disguise! As he sheds his odd outfit, Sparkman releases a "Spark Ball!" at the two. Meanwhile inside the train, Netto is trying to push the debris out of the way, so he can get the doors open. However, they're refusing to budge!
Rockman fires his buster as Woodman fires an attack, pelting the Spark Ball. However, neither of them can damage it! Netto continues to try and find a way in, knowing that Rockman needs his aid with battle chips. In the net, Rockman and Woodman are starting to wear down from Sparkman's contineous attacks.
Sparkman then fires off a multitude of Spark Balls, surrounding both Rockman and Woodman with them. In the train, Netto has now climbed outside onto the exterior, carefully making his way to the front car. Back inside the net, Sparkman decides to finish things by releasing a "Thunder Bolt!", striking all of his Spark Balls, and setting them off like bombs.
Sparkman gazes on as his Spark Balls explode around Rockman and Woodman, stating that this is "the end". However, when the dust clears, he sees that Woodman had protected Rockman with his large body! Rockman becomes worried about his friend, but Woodman tells him not to worry, even though he is obviously damaged badly.
Of course, this caring between navis can only mean one thing: Soul Unison! Sporting a smifty new transformation sequence, Rockman evolves into the powerful and very cute Wood Soul. Recharged with a new power, Rockman once again confronts Sparkman. Still on top of the train, Netto spots Densan Station right ahead of them.
Starting their battle anew, Sparkman fires off a "Spark Wave!", just as Netto surprisingly slots in a battle chip to Rockman! This allows him to blow away Sparkman's attack with a gust of wind, and strikes the Darkloid himself! Rockman doesn't stop there, and activates the Bamboo Sword, striking Sparkman as he's caught up in midair from the wind.
The two navis land on the ground, one smoothly and the other not so smoothly. Rockman looks back at his opponent, and becomes astounded when he gets back up to his feet! However, Sparkman knows he's on his last legs, and decides that if he's going to die, everyone else might as well go with him!
Using the last bit of his energy, he strikes the main controls of the system, causing the train to speed up at an incredible rate. With his task completed, Sparkman disintegrates into millions of pixels as he's deleted.
Unfortunately when Sparkman shorted out the system, he also electricuted the train engineer in the process, knocking him out cold. Chisao begins to freak out as he watches the city buildings fly by at a rapid speed. Rockman can only watch and wait, not knowing exactly what to do. The train continues to speed towards Densan Station, which is still in the process of being evacuated.
All of a sudden, the brakes suddenly start up, and the train begins to slow down! Inside the net, Rockman becomes very surprised (who is still in Wood Soul ^_^; He looks so cute!). Saloma and Chisao also become shocked at the turn of events. Inside the train, we finally see Netto at the controls, who has activated the emergancy break in the main control room.
In a small tribute and reminder to way back in EXE Episode 2, the train stops a mere few inches from the train in front of it inside the station. ^_^; Chisao celebrates with a very cute "Yatta-cha!" along with the rest of the happy and relieved passangers. Meanwhile, a dissappointed Yuriko sits in her yellow sports car, stating "Tche....game over, ne?"
With the mission accomplished, Rockman thanks Woodman for saving him. At Densan Station, Netto receives the Wood Soul Unison Chip. Saloma and Netto reunite, thanking each other for their help. Just then, an announcement calls out over the speaker, Netto's train is leaving! The two boys rush off to finish the trip that they had started so long ago.
Saloma waves as their train departs, and we're treated to a few photos of the boys enjoying their ventures at the park....neko ears and all. The episode ends with a very pretty display of fireworks, along with a cute shot of Rockman also sporting his own pair of Neko ears. ^_^

Even though there wasn't much plot to this episode, I still enjoyed it quite muchly. This episode also had some of the best animation that we've seen in quite awhile. It was good to see Saloma and Woodman again, now if only Miyuki and Skullman would come back. ^_^; Next week, Netto visits Laika's very cold homeland, Sharo! (Which is simular to our Russia) And...we get to see Laika...SMILE. >:D Don't miss it!
